Snapping back to reality, Shaun realized he had almost divulged Wyneth's secret. He waved it off awkwardly. "Nothing, just rambling."

Luke squinted suspiciously. "Your expression doesn't suggest idle babbling."

Shaun knew he could not fool the sharp-minded Luke, so he shrugged. "Eh, knowing too much isn't always beneficial. Ignorance can be bliss."

At Shaun's words, Luke furrowed his brows. 'What could it be?' He discerned a hint about Wyneth. 'She doesn't need to cling to me for popularity. She has connections with people more influential and famous than me, right? Is it possible?' Memories of their dinner at the restaurant stirred. 'She had a touch of melancholy when she mentioned she wouldn't date. Is the person Shaun alluded to the one who broke her heart?'

As Luke pondered, Shaun suddenly closed the gap between them, peering intensely into his eyes. Luke recoiled, frowning at the uncomfortable proximity.
