Chapter 58

Esther walks downstairs from her room and into the hall. She notices Adeline and Tyrus sitting side-by-side on the couch. On the table in front of them, there is a game of monopoly, and Tyrus is teaching Adeline how to play.

“I didn’t think you would be such a savage businesswoman,” Tyrus says to her.

Adeline laughs, hits him lightly on his arm, and then casually keeps one of her hands on his shoulder as she bends forward, closer to the board.

Esther smiles looking at them. Tyrus is such a sweetheart, she thinks. He and Adeline had gelled together pretty well. Then, she remembers her rapport with Tyrus for the first few weeks in this house. She wonders if something of a similar nature is going on between Adeline and him now. The thought amuses her. She didn’t mind. Tyrus was a nice guy, and after everything Adeline has gone through, she deserves to have some fun.

“Hey,” she hears Brent from behind her.
