Maybe she’d thought my telling her that I loved her was putting our fight behind. It wasn’t. Yeah, I loved her, but that didn’t change that I was still pissed off, sick and tired of having to keep so much to myself, good and bad, so she could keep having things her way, no matter how I felt or what I was going through.

“Dinner’s ready.”

I looked up at her at the doorway, all sullen and built-up, and looked back down at my phone, sprawled on the bed.

“I already ate,” I replied, every bit as curtly as her.

“You could’ve told me.”

“You could’ve asked.”

She snorted and slammed the door shut. I rolled my eyes, knowing she’d be back in three, two, one...

“We need to talk.”
