Xander’s POV

I checked out her ex-boyfriend and I could tell her was nothing special. Not in comparison to me anyway.

Then I traveled back to Fort Worth to see Julia. I saw her go into a local bookstore, so I followed her and invited her out for lunch. Lunch went really well, I thought. “I’ll try, mother. I’ll talk to you later.” I hung up before she had a chance to say anything else.

I got home to find Angel laying in my bed instead of hers.

Julia’s POV

Everywhere I went, it seemed Xander was there with his big smile. I have to admit he was starting to wear on me. If I didn’t know better, I’d say he was stalking me.

After countless asks, I finally gave him my phone number and agreed to come to his house for dinner. I was getting ready in a red dress with red heels. Maybe it was a little fancy, but I hadn’t dressed up since that night I met him at the bar. When I was finished with my makeup, I left my house in a hurry and got in the car. I drove to the address he texted me and indeed found it was right by the park where we bumped into each other.

When I got to his front door I rang the doorbell. I could hear barking from inside.
