She shook her head and smiled. “I’ll die if we have another one, Alex.”
I laughed at her, pulling her to me and wanting to prove to her she won’t die if we had another one, but my cellphone made a loud noise, startling Leigh and me. I reached out for my phone, smiling as I answered George.
“I told them you’re still on leave, boss, so don’t worry about it! I had it covered,” George said before I could greet her. My eyes widened as I glanced at the time on my wristwatch.
