I snort and roll my eyes, “Resist you?” I intone sardonically. “I slept with you the very first night we met. You’ve had me.” Cole looks down at my lips for a drawn-out moment.

“I can’t forget the way you taste.” He leans in and whispers in my ear. “The way you sound when you come.”

And he says I derail him.

I press my hand to his chest and push him back a little so that I can look up at him. “We’re sexually frustrated. That’s it.” I tell him firmly, “If we give in to temptation and sleep together again, things will get messy, and I don’t like messy. I don’t want to complicate my life more than it already is. We live and work together, Cole. We can never cross over that line. However badly we may want to.” I explain, and Cole closes his eyes and nods.

With a groan, he pushes off the wall and rubs his jaw, his eyes on me. I could see the frustration in his gaze, and I had the urge to go against my own words and kiss him. He opens his mouth to say something
