Zyrielle's POV. My heart skipped a bit immediately when I heard Mel's voice. I didn't know where to go. I decided to hide behind the door, "Where is Lucas?" She called and I heard a thud on the floor. Was she here with someone? Cheryl, perhaps?"What exactly is wrong with your son that he has refused to put a ring on my finger and is making me feel lesser than I should?" I heard a foreign female voice and I almost stumbled in surprise.Who could this person be for them to demand that Lucas marry them? "I have told you that my son does not need any pressure. He already has a fiancee, whom you also know so why the problem?" She replied. This wasn't making any sense. Was Lucas getting involved with someone else besides Cheryl? This was one of the wildest things that I had come across in a long while. This didn't make sense. Lucas was just one bastard that needed to be brought to book. "You have been telling me this same thing for the past how many months? He has refused to take re
Zyrielle's POV.Of all the things that could be sent about Lucas, this was the last thing that I would have expected from him. I knew that he would probably be involved in some shady deals but not to this extent. This was problematic, and I thought about it; I probably dodged a bullet. If he was involved in some trafficking like this lady claimed, that meant that my life would not have been safe with him and this was the best option. At that moment, I was thankful that Rain had saved me. Lucas always presented himself like someone who couldn't hurt a fly and that was one of the reasons I fell for him. How did he grow from having nothing to getting control over my mother's business and still being greedy enough to get into another phase? "You don't talk about my son that way. If you have a problem with him, you should deal with it instead of trying to pour your frustration on someone who just wanted to have a child. I was the one who pushed for it; now that he is backing out, why don
Author's POV. The sound of his phone ringing cut his attention from the Zoom meeting he was having. He glanced at his second phone and realized that it was my mother calling. Every time she put the call to him it was always a problem or the other, and quite frankly, he did not have the time no energy to discuss any problematic situation. "Are you with all Mr Lucas?" His Indian partner, Mr Roshan inquired. Swiping a finger across the screen, ending the call, and focusing his attention on the people before me. They were going to produce more results than his nagging mother would."I was only a bit distracted for a moment," he replied to them before looking at the charts that were drawn across the screen. He was yet to answer because he felt like it was not necessary. He just wanted a partnership with them, but they were looking at the long time that he had truly not seen between them. If they had access, why did they not go ahead to find other partners? This was a win-win situation
Rain's POV. I sauntered into Zyrielle's former house just right in time to see my step-sister pointing at her angrily, and I grew mad. She had no right to speak to her in any derogatory manner. If it wasn't for the fact that I knew that Zyrielle was only trying to focus on the positives and not deal with the negatives right away, I knew the things that I would have done to them. Despite her resistance, I was still very active in bringing Lucas down. His businesses were collapsing and I was buying out all his shares. He had to feel the heat even without me talking. "Nice to see you come into my house uninvited." Melissa began sarcastically but I had nothing to say to her besides the fact that she didn't deserve any form of attention beyond that which she had received. "It's amazing to see you again sister," I said sarcastically. Melissa's gaze took a wild gleam as she realized that she couldn't intimidate me into doing whatever she wanted, "Have you no shame? Snooping around? What
Zyrielle's POV. "And that's my cue to leave," Zyrielle spoke, seizing that opportunity to leave the house, with a small smirk on her face. Cheryl's face crumpled in shock as soon as they left, she had never imagined in her wildest dreams that she would be facing such. "You got a woman pregnant or what was Zyrielle saying?" She demanded from Lucas whose lips drew together in anger. He never expected her to understand what happened and also did not expect Zyrielle to come into his house unnoticed. "Maxwell!" He yelled, before walking to the door and flinging it open. "Maxwell!" He yelled again. This time Maxwell heard and began to run towards the house, his heart racing with every step he took. This was going to be a problem. He could already see his sack letter placed right in front of him as they let him go. He didn't know how to begin his explanations so that he did not get into trouble. "Tell me why an intruder was in my house yet you didn't deem it fit to tell me," Lucas deman
Zyrielle's POV. My heart was still racing the minute I settled into the car. I thought of the various ways that things could go awry and how I might probably have not been able to bring myself out of such a situation. It wasn't going to be easy but I had made a conscious effort to find my way and not limit myself to what Lucas wanted me to be. He probably wanted me to be depressed and sad just because I could not have everything I wanted, but that wasn't going to work for me. If I wanted some level of success and revenge, I needed to be focused on my work. "Penny for your thoughts?" Rain's voice cut through my thoughts and I looked up."I want to start making some artwork," I told him and he blinked in surprise. "Tell me that's a lie. I never knew you were gifted in such an area. Is this true?" Rain inquired all at once and I found myself chuckling, forgetting the fact that I was a bit sad."Of course, I had always had a penchant for lovely designs but didn't think it was going to
Rain's POV.This was my queue to invest in more research so that I could find a solution to her health problems. I would not be able to do anything if she was giving up so soon. There was absolutely nothing that was going to work for her anymore. This would make me relax my resolve and contact Dr Sanchez because he was the only doctor she trusted. Even if it was against my will, I would have no choice but to do it. "Are you angry at me because of what I said?" Zyrielle's soothing voice broke into my thoughts and I looked up. My mind was in disarray as I thought of the possibility of her not being here anymore just before her time. "No, we've concluded that it's not going to come up again right?" I inquired from her. The last thing I wanted was for her to talk about death like it was something trivial. I was triggered when it came to stuff like this and didn't want her to continue making light of the situation I was going to find a way to get her back on her feet. This was one of
Zyrielle's POV. My visit to the doctor there's no longer so annoying because I now had a sense of belonging. Even if I wasn't going to scale through the process, I knew that they would be a proper guardian for my kids and that alone was able to give me some sense of relaxation. I didn't want a situation where I would have to stress myself so much just to be able to get a point across. "You look very well. I could almost not recognize you." Dr Sanchez joked the minute I stepped into his office, eliciting a smile out of my lips. It was true that the fastest way for recovery was happiness. Rain had made everything easy for me and right now I felt so relieved knowing him. It definitely wasn't easy but I still had lots of peace in my soul. Sometimes whenever I had delusional or suicidal thoughts, I simply remembered that he was not going to take it lightly if he knew what I was thinking about and that helped to solve a lot of problems than usual. He might not know what he was doing fo
