NOELLE
I paced around the room, unsure of what to do next. The maids all stared at me as they waited for me to come up with something, to them I would be their savior. I couldn't help but wonder how Emery had left with all her things the night before the wedding. Or did she leave with them this morning? How come no one saw her? Wasn't she in love with Malcolm? They both agreed to get married, so why did she leave? The more I thought about it, the more confused I got. The door slammed open and I turned around immediately, Kira walked in. “What is wrong? Why isn't Emery ready yet? Your mother is blowing my ears with complaints downstairs.” For her to come over here, all the way from the hall meant things were about to get seriously fucked. From the urgency in her tone, I knew that the guests were already getting impatient. I immediately ran to her, holding her hands in mine. If there was going to be anyone that held a solution, it was going to be her. “Kira, Emery is missing,” Her lips turned into a frown as she looked around, confusion written on her face. “What do you mean that Emery is missing?” “All her clothes are gone. She took it all and left. Now we don't know what to do and everyone is panicking,” I said in one breath. Realizing the dilemma that we had found ourselves in, her face was filled with fear, and her eyes widened. “We can't go out there and tell them we don't have a bride,” Kira whispered, shaking her head. “What? What are we going to do then? Emery isn't going to magically come back!” I cried out. We were running out of time and there weren't many options left. “You,” she turned to me, holding my arm. I stared at her confused, my head shaking slowly. I hope she wasn't thinking about what I thought she was. “You're going to have to take her place. To save your family from humiliation. And isn't that what you've always wanted? To get married to Malcolm?” I glanced around to make sure nobody heard that. That would be more humiliating than not having a bride. “No! No way would happen,” I tried to fight against it but she seemed to have already made up her mind. “Okay then, if you have a better option other than going out there to spare Malcolm the humiliation, I want to hear it.” My tongue was tied as I stared at her. I didn't have any other option, this was our best bet. She asked the maids to dress me up in bridal attire, making sure that my face was properly covered with a veil. Wouldn't Malcolm know that I'm not his bride? I wondered as my grip on the gown tightened. With each step forward I took, the fact that I was betraying Malcolm weighed down on me greatly. What would he think when he finds out about this? “Remember, don't speak or do anything to give yourself away until the wedding is complete,” Kira whispered to me, holding my arm lightly. I swallowed thickly, nodding my head. This wasn't how I wanted to get Malcolm, goddess forgive me. My grip on the flower tightened as I walked down the aisle, keeping my eyes on Malcolm who was watching me with a bright smile. Standing before him, I ignored my wild beating heart when he held my hands, raising my eyes to meet his. “Now that the bride is here, let us begin,” The priest said and I zoned out of what he was saying. My thoughts were spiraling out of control as I thought of what would happen to me if I was caught. Would Malcolm hate me for doing this? Or would he understand why I did it? “-Until death do us part,” Malcolm squeezed my hand a little and I snapped back to the present. “Are you alright?” He whispered to me and I nodded my head. “You have to say your vows now,” Malcolm whispered once more and I realized why everyone was staring at us. My cheeks tinged red as I struggled to think of a vow. If I speak, wouldn't he recognize my voice? I just have to make my voice a bit hoarse and imitate Emery voice as well as I can. “I, Emery Maverick, take you, Malcolm Ashwood, to be my wedded husband, to have and to hold from this day forward, for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish, till death, us do part, according to the holy law. In the presence of the goddess, I make this vow. I promise to be your strength when you feel weak, I promise to be the reason you laugh and never for why you laugh. I promise to always hold your hand and never leave it no matter the circumstances we find ourselves in,” I had tears streaming down my face as I said this vow, this wasn't how I wanted my wedding to be. Not under pretense. I didn't want to deceive anyone. The guilt was too much to take in. “Are you alright? You sound different and-” I could hear the worry in his voice and it broke my heart that I was going to disappoint him after this. Shaking my head, I tried to convince him that I was alright. “I bless this ring and I bless your union,” I brought my left hand out for Malcolm to fix the ring in, and he immediately did the same. My hands shook as I tried to put his ring on, my hands sweaty. “Emery?” Malcolm asked and I finally slipped the ring. I turned to see Kira staring at me with a stern gaze. I had to keep it together or we were going to get caught. “I now pronounce you, man and wife. You may now kiss the bride,” I closed my eyes as Malcolm reached for my veil, tears streaming down my face. A loud gasp was heard in the crowd as my veil was pulled up and I opened my eyes. Malcolm stared at me with hurt and betrayal. “Noelle?” He called. I couldn't utter a word. “I don't understand… how…” “Where is Emery?” He asked, shaking in anger. “Malcolm-” I started reaching for him. My heart broke when he took a step back, stepping out of my reach. “Malcolm I can explain,” I started but as expected he refused to listen to me. “Where is Emery? Why are you here? Is this a joke? Do you think I would ever acknowledge you as my wife?” He thundered. His words pierced through my heart like a dagger. At this moment, there was nothing but hatred for me in his eyes, the usual love and adoration nowhere to be found. He hated me. Malcolm hated me!Chapter 4 NOELLE He blamed me. He hated me for ruining his wedding. The anger was still in his eyes and I wished I could turn back the hands of time. But even then, I was sure the situation would have been worse. He would fall into a deep depression that no one could bring him out of. I didn't expect him to proceed with the wedding. With all the whispers from the crowd and the apparent hatred he harbored for me, he did. People had come from far and near to witness a wedding. He was going to give them that to save face. After the wedding, I knew it was my only opportunity to talk to him. I could hope he would listen to me. “Mal..” I called, just as he walked into the house. He turned to me in a fit of rage. At the ceremony, he was confused and hurt. Now he was just angry. Furious. “Where is Emery?” He demanded. I swallowed thickly, stalking backward in case he launched at me in anger. “I don't know. This morning we couldn't find her and…” “You know what
Chapter 5 NOELLE I always imagined what it would be like living with Malcolm. Now, he was going to take me to his home, I wanted to be anywhere but there. I wanted to stay back here, where my parents could protect me from his cruelty. But they didn't see any reason for me to be anxious. Especially since Malcolm wasn't raging anymore. But I saw right through the act. It was just a front to keep my parents from realizing his true intentions. He respected them so much since they practically raised him. He didn't want them to feel disappointed that he wasn't going to treat their daughter right. My stomach twisted in a pit of dread as we arrived at his mansion. I could only imagine what awaited me behind those walls. Once we got in, he didn't even bother to talk to me and headed upstairs. I remained downstairs, waiting for him to return and possibly show me to my room if I had one. I didn't think he would want me sleeping in his room. The mansion was incredib
NOELLE“Mommy, please save me.” My little self cried, curling up in a corner. I cried and cried for my parents but I was greeted with the total darkness that threatened to consume me.Then she came, the woman that always haunted my dreams.“No!!” I yelled, snapping out of the dream as I sat up from the bed.“It's only a nightmare, Noelle. Just a nightmare.” I muttered repeatedly, sitting up from the bed. Luckily the lights were on and I was a little more relaxed.I had always been scared of the demons in the darkness, afraid that it would consume me.It all started right after I was kidnapped when I was younger. Twice, I was kidnapped twice.Taking in a deep breath, I got out of bed. Yawning loudly as I walked out of my room. I needed to drink water, after Malcolm drove me out of his kitchen earlier, I've not had water or food to eat.I had been to this house, right after he purchased it. I remember him smiling and asking if Emery would love it.A sad chuckle escaped my lips as I re
Malcolm When Noelle said she was going to be staying away from me, she meant business. I hadn't seen her for a very long time, and I actually didn't keep count of how long.I had been so preoccupied with finding Emery, trying to come up with any logic on why she would just disappear, though I came up with none.It was fucking frustrating, though I was sure something was definitely not right somewhere. Emery loved me, I loved her. She wouldn't think of leaving me, not on our wedding day. That particular day, after I got home that night. My brows furrowed, and the thought of Noelle not coming out of her room sent chills down my spine. The kitchen was just as I left it and I knew that she was not leaving the house. The guards stationed outside would have let me know.As I walked to my room, I found myself stopping by her room door.“Noelle?” I called in an unsure voice, knocking on the door, slowly.I paused, waiting for a response, but there was none.“Noelle??” I called this time, my
Noelle After the day that Malcolm reportedly cooked for me and made me eat. He ghosted me. It had been three days and I hardly saw Malcolm, when he was returning back, he returned late and sometimes drunk. I knew he was drunk due to how he moved and reeked of alcohol. He hired a cook like he said and she made my meals. She did not live in the same building with us and so was not a witness to whatever was going on. This particular day, I became so bored of sitting around the empty house. All I did was read books and watch movies. 24/7. I decided to go out and breathe some fresh air. I brought out my phone as I texted Kira, we've been talking for a while since I got married. ‘Hey girl’ ‘ Noelle, what's up?’ She replied two seconds later. If a person was in trouble, Kira was the right person to call. She was always on her phone. Kira was obsessed with it as she made sure to follow up on the latest news, fashion, and everything. ‘what are you doing? Busy?’ ‘Hell no! Wanna meet?
Noelle It was already dark when I got home. I didn't mean to stay so long but Kira had a lot of fun things in mind to do, and I simply tagged along I packed my car and stepped out of it. Taking a look at the time, I doubted if Malcolm was already home, but then my eyes caught his car that was parked. I still wasn't sure that he was home, maybe he took a different car along. I let out a long and tired sigh and made my way into the house. “Where the hell are you coming from?” His cold voice rang in my ears, sounding so displeased. I paused in my tracks and my eyes darted to where Malcolm was standing. Looking dreamy as ever, he was wearing his usual black clothes, his hands in his pocket and his hair falling on his forehead. Gosh, why was he so handsome? I tried to hate him, but each time I did that, I was welcomed with his handsome face. I couldn't help but crush on him all over again. “I went to see Kira,” I replied, keeping a straight face. “And who did you tell
Noelle I stood in front of the mirror, staring at the huge mark on the side of my neck. It was the same spot where Malcolm had bitten and sucked.Letting out a long and tired sigh, I made my way out of my room, to go watch some TV downstairs.Malcolm had long left the house and I was the only one in.I was about to take my seat when the doorbell rang. My brows furrowed in surprise, knowing fully well that it was not Mal.One reason was that he wouldn't be back so early and two, he would just barge into the house, he never used the doorbell. So, I guessed that it was Bertha, the cook that Malcolm had assigned to me. But I had strictly told her earlier that I was not going to have breakfast.“Coming.” I dropped my bag of chips on a nearby table, before heading towards the door.“Bertha I told you–” My voice trailed off, the moment I saw the person standing by the door.It was not Bertha, but Millie. Malcolm's sister.“Millie–” I stammered in a flabbergasted tone. I certainly wasn't exp
Malcolm I had a tired look on my face as I walked into my house. The day had been very hectic for me, and it was about finding Emery as usual.Everything felt blank, my wolf Mav, no longer felt the connection or spark. It felt like something bad had happened to her and I chose not to believe that, and have hope that she was alive somewhere.I just needed to find her and find out why she left the wedding.“Millie?” My brows furrowed at the sight of my sister setting the table. What was she doing in my house?“Malcolm you're back.” Her face widened with a smile as she stretched out her hands to hug me.“Why are you here?” I asked instead, pushing her away slightly.“I came to see my brother. Why?” She smiled and she resumed setting the table.“I'm married. Newly wedded. You can't just come in here because you want to see me.” I frowned and Millie paused.“Are you asking me out of your house?” She pouted.“No, no.” I shook my head, waving her off. “I'm not saying that,” I said. Millie
