The tension was so awkward in the car. Roni was not helping by giggling and making comments under her breath after my father asked that awkward question.

“Alessandro, why was the door closed?” he asked again

He did not even bother asking me because he knew I would find a way to change the story and make my father look like the bad person.

“I guess the door just closed.” Russo finally shrugged.

My father laughed, and Roni giggled in the backseat as if that was very amusing to her, while I was the only one sweating. I mean, I had not done anything fishy with Russo, but it just felt weird for my father to be pressing, my sister to be giggling, and Russo to be panicking.

At least we reached the destination, and the second Russo opened the door, I hopped out. I needed air. Roni and my father walked ahead with everyone else as if we were the royal family or something while I was still at the car with Russo.

“Are you okay?” he asked in a low voice.

“I think you should go ahead, or I sho

I continued to kiss him until everything rushed back to my head and hit me like a tonne of bricks. What was I doing? I immediately separated from him and just blinked at him. He looked as confused as me. I suddenly realised what I was doing. And I knew it was all wrong. “I am so sorry. I- I- I did not- not realise what- I was- what I had done.” I stammered as I tried to step away from him“No- no,” Russo said as he tried to grab me back.I quickly stepped back and tried to head to the rest of the cars to hide myself. But he followed me. It scared me even more that he followed me. “Russo, I am sorry. It should not have happened. I am taking advantage of you. I am not in the right state of mind right now, and what I did to you was wrong.” I said as I began to tear up“No, you did not take advantage of me. Relax,” he said.He was trying to assure me, but clearly, it was not working because all I could feel was guilt. “Russo, my father was already very upset that you were in my bedro

“Do you think she will tell your father?” Russo asked in a low voice, hoping that Roni was gone by then“I don’t know. We better hope she does not.” I shrugged I was about to walk away when he grabbed my hand again. “Russo… I can’t. Roni just caught us, and I have to go look for my father and find out why he needs me.” I sighed “Well, you need to fix your makeup. Anyone who sees you there will know for sure what you were doing,” he informed me. “But now I don’t have a mirror. How am I supposed to fix it?” I asked as I panicked, wondering how did I look “Here, you can use my phone,” he said as he took his phone out of his pocket. It just hit me that I could have used my own, but I remembered Roni had my bag because it had the makeup, meaning she also had my phone. I opened the camera and saw how my face looked. It was not too bad, but for sure, anyone who saw it would know that I was probably kissing someone. I pushed my hair back, wiped my face a bit, and then handed him the pho

Roni did not give any more information after saying something like that. Instead, she walked away as if she did not leave me confused and wanting to know more. I had just to tag along until we were close enough to my father and the other random people he kept taking us around to meet. But once all of that was done, I pulled her aside, desperate to know more. “What do you mean by you have been there before?” I asked in a hushed tone“Tori, that’s all I am telling you, and that’s it. You will have to find out the rest on your own. Now, we have to go back home and prepare for the prayers.” she replied. ***The drive home was the most awkward thing. I was still in between Russo and my sister in the backseat, wondering why Roni could not sit in the middle or why my father could not sit in the backseat instead. I wondered why Russo was even driving around with us like he was my father’s brother or even my mother’s brother when my own blood relatives were seated at the back and entering t

I remained outside for a while, completely and absolutely shocked, while different people continued to gather at our house. Eventually, I found the courage to put one foot in front of the other and walk towards the house where everyone was in the living room and dining room, talking, sipping on tea and juice and others pretending to be crying as they stared at the family photos. But there was no Russo in sight. I knew he did not go home because I was outside all that time, and I had not seen him pass by. I headed straight for Roni’s room, I gently knocked on the door and then twisted the handle and opened the door. She was seated on the bed, flipping through a photo album as she gently brushed and touched my mother’s face as if she could feel her. “Where is your husband?” I asked the second I sat on her bed, right next to her.“He is somewhere there in the living room. I told him I needed to get away from all those people for some time. I just feel- I don’t know… I just feel like a

“What are you doing in here?!” I asked loudly “SHH!” he attempted to shush me, but I was more than shocked. “What are you doing in here!” I asked again, but a little softer“Close the damn door and come inside!” he replied. I slowly pushed my bedroom door shut, locked it and then stood and folded my arms. “What the heck are you doing in here? This is my bedroom.” I asked one more time“I wanted to come and talk to you.” he replied “I did not want to make it look suspicious with you walking right behind me, so I went ahead, and you only came in minutes later, but then you did not come to your bedroom, so I wondered if they had caught you and were grilling you,” he responded, still in a hushed tone.“Yeah, I went to Roni’s bedroom. I went to go and check on her.” “Yeah, I eventually heard you guys talking and laughing,” he said.Did he really hear what we were talking about? “You heard us?” I asked worriedly“Yes, but no. Well, yea, I heard you guys, but no, I didn’t,” he answered

“I am confused. Is your phone on?!” my father asked“Uhmm… yes,” I answered quickly, still lying “Well, please turn it off. It keeps ringing every time I try to call Alessandro,” he said “Okay,” I responded.I turned to look at Alessandro and hoped he would turn off his phone, but instead, he was in more panic about my father standing on the other side of the door. So, my father tried to call Alessandro again and his phone rang loudly once again. “Tori!” my father called out angrily. I wondered how my father had not figured out that Alessandro’s phone was inside the room. He automatically assumed it was mine. “I told you to switch off your phone.” my father said “I am sorry. I am turning off my phone now.” I replied slowly while looking at Alessandro, hoping he would get the hint. He eventually did and slowly pulled out his phone and turned off the volume, and then pushed it back into his pocket. I heard my father on the other end pressing a few buttons, and then the phone rang

“Anyway, ladies, I will check in on you two later.” my father said as he stood up. “Let’s go and shoo these people out of the house.” My father left the room with Alessandro, leaving me in Roni’s room with her. “So, he is a quick man,” Roni said “What do you mean?” I questioned back“He comes up with lies quickly,” she replied “I don’t know what you’re talking about.” “Tori, we all know he was not in the bathroom. I heard you guys talking as soon as you left my room. I knew you guys were definitely in your room. There was no way you were just standing in the corridor. And then, when Dad came to your room looking for you, he tried to call Alessandro, and we all heard his ringtone coming from your room. Dad probably heard it but is just praying and crossing his fingers that Alessandro was not in your room.” she answered. There was really no point in lying to Roni. She had managed to really catch us before. So, everything else she saw was just a confirmation of all that we had done

Oh, just how I knew we were definitely going to be seen by my father, and he was definitely going to leave the other dry conversation to attend to us. I was still in Alessandro’s arms. I could not break away because he gripped me tight, but then my father approached us long ago. I decided to let out a few tears and then start screaming like a kid. Alessandro caught that quick enough and slowly started rubbing my back to comfort me. “What’s wrong with Tori?” my father questioned again“I don’t know. I guess she is just feeling sad or something.” Alessandro responded. I continued to let out a few more fake tears, feeling also content that he got on the plan so quickly and was able to help me reply. “Tori, Tori… are you okay?” My father asked as he rubbed my back. I shook my head quickly. “What do you want? What do you need? Come on, talk to us.” my father asked, sounding really worried, which caused actual tears to roll out of my eyes because I had not seen him become that soft, e

“Hello, Dad,” I answered, trying to steady my voice.“Tori, is everything alright? Do you need me to come get you?” His voice was laced with concern.“No, no, everything’s fine,” I reassured him quickly. He sighed. “Then why send a message instead of calling me?”I stayed silent, my mind scrambling for an excuse—but unlike all the other times, I didn’t have a lie ready.“I’m sorry, Dad,” I sighed.“It’s fine, but you’d better be back tomorrow—midday at the latest. You can’t overstay at someone’s place. What will they think of us?” he started rambling.“Okay, Dad. I’ll be back in the morning,” I assured him.“Goodnight,” he said before hanging up, not even giving me a chance to respond.I put my phone back and walked back to Bash. But by then, Bash was out of the kissing mood. “What’s wrong?” I asked, feeling a pang of worry.“Nothing, nothing,” he replied with a casual shrug, but I wasn’t convinced. He began gathering the dishes, carrying them off to the kitchen, leaving me standing

"I thought I was only visiting," I answered."Oh?" he sighed, his disappointment barely hidden.I could see the hurt in his eyes, but there wasn’t much I could do about it. Staying over wasn’t an option—I’d be in serious trouble with my father."Wait, but I thought yesterday you didn’t want me," I finally asked."Hm?" he replied, his brows slightly furrowing."What did you say?" he asked again, sitting down and looking at me intently."Oh no, it's okay," I replied quickly, hoping to brush it off.I felt his leg gently brush against mine under the table, sending a jolt through me. I jumped slightly, my breath hitching.“What’s wrong?” he asked as he poured himself some more wine“Oh, nothing, nothing.” I answered quickly. I knew I was probably ruining the dinner at that point. The tension in the air felt thick, and I hated that I was overthinking everything, second-guessing each little moment."So, I’m not pouring you some wine?" he asked, still holding the bottle of white wine, a pla

  • Accidentally His   61- The Uber

Minutes dragged on, each one stretching endlessly as I stood there, phone in hand, refreshing the app over and over. Not a single Uber was available. It was as if the universe had conspired against me, leaving me stranded with no way out. I was trapped in my room, my fingers relentlessly refreshing the app every second, praying for a miracle—a driver, any driver. But nothing. Just an empty screen mocking my desperation. Bash had called me multiple times, his name flashing across my phone, but I rejected every single one. I couldn’t deal with him right now—not when I was already spiraling over being stranded with no way out.I wandered back into the living room. Roni had dozed off, her head resting peacefully on Dad’s shoulder, while he remained glued to the screen, still engrossed in whatever movie was playing."Dad, there are no Ubers, and I don’t want to keep my friend waiting," I sighed, frustration lacing my voice."Then let me take you," he offered again, his tone calm yet firm.

“I will be back. Let me sort out something.” I said before I quickly left the living room and hurried to my bedroom. I tried to press on his profile but I still could not see anything because it was a private account. You’re probably messing with me.I typed back as I pinched my screen to zoom into the profile picture to get a better look at him. Now, why would I lie to you?I did not know he was searching for me. I thought he decided that I was his ex’s younger sister and therefore, knew that I was off limits. I tapped back on the profile and this time I could finally see content. He had accepted my follow request and followed me back. I pressed on his most recent posts and there he was, the same face I saw from the dinner that night. I found myself practically drooling all over the screen and thinking about how gorgeous his face was. I see I have got a stalker. Another message from him popped up. I wondered what he meant by that until I looked down and saw that I may have lik

He stood at the door for what felt like an eternity, while my heart hammered in my chest. My eyes were wide open, unable to look away, trapped in the awkwardness of the moment as everything around me seemed to hold its breath."I was thinking we could watch a movie or something?" he suggested, his eyes darting between Roni and me, clearly trying to defuse the awkwardness.I let out a huge sigh of relief. “Sure, at the movie theater or here?” Roni asked, her voice light, though I could sense the underlying curiosity.“Here is fine. Let’s just plug in the drives and check for something we could watch, or we could stream something,” he suggested casually as if nothing out of the ordinary had just happened.“Okay, we’ll be right there,” Roni replied, her tone bright and eager.I, on the other hand, stayed silent, my mind racing. I could feel the weight of the moment—already skating on thin ice with my father, I wasn’t sure if I could handle any more tension tonight. He nodded and closed

Roni slid off the bed and casually made her way toward the door. I watched her with raised brows, half-expecting her to ignore my question entirely. But instead of leaving or responding, she cracked the door open just slightly, peering through the small gap like some kind of spy. She lingered for a few seconds, then shut the door just as quickly and turned back toward me.“And then?” I prompted, confused by her odd behaviour.“I just needed to make sure Dad or Russo wasn’t lurking around. If they catch us talking about this, we’ll be in trouble,” she explained before walking back to the bed and flopping down beside me. This time, she scooted closer, lowering her voice as if what she was about to say was top secret.“Maya is his… complicated person,” she whispered dramatically.I frowned. “What do you mean by that?”She sighed heavily as if she were annoyed that I wasn’t instantly catching on.“Okay, so you know how Bash is my complicated person?” she asked, tilting her head slightly.

I was eager to uncover the truth about what had transpired between my sister and Russo, but before I could even voice my question, he suddenly appeared. His expression shifted the moment he laid eyes on my father—stunned, almost disbelieving. My father, seemingly caught off guard, parted his lips as if to say something but hesitated. “Oh—” was all that escaped him.An uneasy silence settled between us, thick with unspoken words and unanswered questions.“Anyway,” Russo finally spoke, his tone flat but firm. “I came to let you know that I’m heading back home. Maya called—there’s something I need to take care of over there.”My father, who had been sitting in contemplation, immediately rose to his feet and took a step closer to Russo. His expression was softer now, almost apologetic.“Look, I’m really sorry about earlier,” he said, his voice lowered, though not enough to keep me from catching bits and pieces of his words. “There’s just a lot going on, and I’m only trying to protect her.

"Uhmm..." I stammered, struggling to come up with a lie quickly.I could tell she had already caught me red-handed, reading through her journal.I slowly turned around and saw Roni’s expression—more than disappointed, it was a mix of frustration and disbelief. “Were you reading my journal? My personal journal?” she asked, her voice laced with disappointment.“Uhm…” I stammered, struggling to come up with a lie fast enough. “Tori…” she sighed.“Look, I’m sorry,” I stammered, trying to come up with something that sounded believable. “I was just passing by and saw it open. I wanted to close it so I wouldn’t accidentally read it, and then you came in when I was about to do that.” It wasn’t the whole truth, but I had to say something. She gave me a look, one that said she knew I wasn’t being completely honest. Her gaze was sharp like she could see right through the half-truths I’d just told her. “But it seemed like you were reading through it,” she pointed out, her tone laced with skept

"Victoria, what are you doing here?" My father asked, his voice laced with anger.I remained frozen, shocked into silence. I was too afraid to respond, not knowing if he'd just ask a rhetorical question or if he truly wanted an answer.“Victoria?” he repeated, his voice now calmer, though there was still a sharp edge to it. Oh, so he actually wanted an answer this time?He realized that being angry with everyone wouldn't help him get the answers he needed."I was drinking a cup of tea when I overheard you having a personal conversation with Alessandro - Mr. Russo. I thought it would be rude to walk by in the middle of it," I explained, though some of it was not entirely true.He sighed, dismissing me with a wave, before turning and walking back to the living room.I waited, hoping he would return and pick up where we left off last night, but he didn’t. Just as I started to think I might be in the clear, I heard his footsteps coming back toward the kitchen.“Finish your tea, go shower
