Andrei's POV

When I look into Brielle's eyes, I see forever. This crazy, beautiful blue that just makes me feel alive.

My heart's all aflutter, like a bird in a hurricane. I'm pretty sure I'm not dying or anything… although it feels like it. Must be love… or a heart attack.

I'm staring into her eyes, and I swear, there's something off. A tiny ripple in the calm waters. But before I can put my finger on it, she's turning around, and She's just… walking away.

No words, no nothing. Just her back, getting farther and farther away. Just what I needed to complete my evening: a healthy dose of rejection and a strong sense of self-doubt.

“You're just gonna ditch me like yesterday's trash?” I ask, trying to sound cool, but really, I'm just dying inside. “One minute we're fine, the next you're walking away. What am I supposed to do? Just stand here and watch you disappear?”

She hesitates, one foot on the threshold, as if unsure whether to flee or surrender. The pause is a vulnerable,

Brielle's POV I might be a fool for loving Andrei, but what can I say? I love him. love him like a starving man loves a feast, like a sailor loves the sea. And that scares me because I'm not sure I can love anyone else like that. And Every time he breaks my heart, it feels like a piece of me dies, like a tiny spark of hope is extinguished forever. Early hours of this morning, I'd opened the door to a special delivery of heartbreak. I expected a fun, quirky surprise. But oh no, fate's got a twisted sense of humor, and the contents are more stomach-churning than a rotten egg salad sandwich. Inside the mysterious package, I find a photo album, complete with snapshots of Andrei and his new sidepiece, mugging for the camera like they were the happiest couple alive. And by 'happiest couple alive,' I mean they were tongue-deep in each other's faces. The more I stare at these pictures, the angrier I get. It's like staring into the fiery pits of hell, and I'm ready to throw a tan

Brielle's POV “I-I don't think that's something I'd ever consider…" I admit. Hopefully, Ivy doesn't notice me turning into a human tomato, complete with the bright red face, or if she does, she'll never let me live it down, and I don't need her poking at this particular hornet's nest. “Bri, we all have our little fantasies, our little moments of weakness when our hearts start racing and our minds start wandering. It could be the sexy, sweaty mailman, delivering your packages. It could be the charming barista at your local coffee shop, serving up more than just lattes and cappuccinos. There's no shame in having a little crush, even if it's on someone you shouldn't be crushing on.” “You may as well be confessing to a crime with that sassy little act.” I tease. Ivy nibbles on her lip like, her face a maelstrom of emotions. It’s pretty clear she’s got something juicy cooking in her head, something that’s about to blow the roof off this little chat...“Lane? He’s like… catnip for my

Andrei's POV Boardroom meetings, presentations, pitching ideas to the suits—all that business crap feels like sand in my shoes these days. I built this company from nothing. Now, all I see is how empty it’s become. The Carter building stands like a cold, dead heart, pumping out emptiness and despair. And I'm not much better off. Time to blow this popsicle stand. I knock back the last dregs of coffee, feeling the caffeine jolt my system. Hit the stairs, step out of the building, into the bright, unforgiving light. The sounds of the city – car horns, chatter, wailing sirens – they're all fading into the distance as I fire up my car and hit the road, heading north. Maybe I’ve got a touch of psychosomatic something-or-other. You know, where your mind takes your fears and spits them out in the worst possible way. These dreams feel so real. I see Brielle slipping away from me. Not exactly the most alpha feeling. Trust me. And I’ll be damned if Odessa doesn’t give me some answers. Did

Andrei's POV. I glare at Odessa, expecting her to get with the program, but she looks at me like I'm crazy. Her eyes are blank, her expression unreadable. I'm starting to feel like I'm talking to a wall—a very attractive wall, but still, a wall. I curse under my breath, feeling like a world-class jackass. “Yes… I think we have to try. Expose Jeremy's truth, I mean. We'll… we'll do everything we can.” her gaze wavers, and I see the fear lurking beneath. It's a fleeting moment, but it's there. “Come on, Odessa, put some heart into it. I need to believe you, even if you don't.” She nods. “So, where do we start? You're the expert, right? I'm all ears. My fiancée thinks we're together, and that's like pulling the wrong block. Everything starts to unravel. I'm trying to find a way to put it all back together without making a mess. And then there's Jeremy's case, which is like… well, that's like someone pouring gasoline on the whole thing and lighting a match. Time to douse Jeremy’s f

Jeremy's POV Andrei's still got fight in him, I'll give him that. But it's a futile effort, really. It's like watching a toddler throw a tantrum – entertaining, ultimately pointless. I'd almost admire his tenacity if it wasn't so pathetic. Warning signs are flashing: he's regrouping, rearming, and preparing to unleash hell. He's summoned me to the Thunder dome of Corporate America: a high-octane meeting with the suits who called the shots. Board members with bottom-line mentalities, shareholders with a demanding expectation of returns, investors with itchy trigger fingers, and lawyers with razor-sharp instincts — all gathered to scrutinize me. “Gentlemen, ladies,” I address the audience, meeting the skeptical eyes of the gathered dignitaries. “You know me as a man of integrity, of honor. I’ve never done a shady deal in my life. And I certainly don’t have the time or inclination to stoop to Andrei Carter’s level of scumbaggery. I’ve got more than words to back me up. I’ve got proo

Jeremy's POV I storm into my lair, bellowing at the top of my lungs. “Odessa! Where’s that woman when you need her? ODESSA!” The echo of my voice ricochets around the cavernous space, bouncing off the ornate columns and marble floors, before finally fading into silence. Odessa's screw-up is going to get me killed. I hired her to cast a spell on my brother, not to let him stay lucid enough to keep haunting me. What's the point of having a witch on the payroll if she can't even get the job done? She better bring her A-game, or she's out. I don't tolerate dead weight. Andrei's on a warpath, and I need pros who can keep up. Like a blind man suddenly gifted sight, my gaze lands on the gleaming glass orbs of the CCTV cameras, their little black bodies poking out from every corner like curious meerkats. One's above the door, another's near the water cooler, and a third's hiding behind a potted plant. Well, this is a fine mess. I'm not a patient man, and I don't like surprises. That's

Brielle's POV French Polynesia was a slice of paradise straight out of a travel brochure, with the kind of crystal-clear waters that'll make you want to chuck your phone into the ocean and never look back. Like all good things, our little island escape had to come to an end, leaving me with a serious case of wanderlust. I'm still wrapped in the warmth of tropical sunsets, the sweetness of frangipani, and the gentle lap of crystal-clear waters. We're back to our typical lives as the Monroes “Brielle, darling, breakfast's on! And by 'on,' I mean it's a masterpiece that'll make your taste buds sing!” I swear, Mom's like a big kid sometimes. I love her for it, though. Post-vacation life is all about prioritizing. And, right now, my priorities are twofold: Taming this mane, which has morphed into a wild, wavy beast during our travels, and Satisfying my rumbling tummy with a hearty breakfast. The suitcase, filled with the remnants of our adventure, will just have to wait patie

Brielle's POV “Brielle, we've got a story to tell, and it's a wild one. We were kidnapped in Hawaii. It was scary, but we're safe, and that's what counts.” I'm in a state of shock. All I can muster is a faint, disbelieving “What?” “Unfortunately, yes… We were held hostage.” Mom affirms. Basic human decency. It's not that hard. If your life is in danger, tell your children. “Why didn't you report it to the authorities?” I ask, unable to fathom why my parents would have kept this ordeal to themselves. “You were held captive, potentially in danger—that's not something you simply move past.” Mom's eyes fog with uncertainty, and she hesitates before speaking, “We couldn’t say anything, Brielle. Not if we wanted to remain safe. Andrei, however, guaranteed our protection. He vowed to take care of everything, and we believed him. After treating us to that incredible getaway in French Polynesia, I thought he was just being generous. Perhaps it was his way of making sure we had a gr

Brielle's POV Final chapter. “Fine,” Jeremy voice cracks with restraint, the single word drawn out in a reluctant admission. I'm low-key freaking out, my heart racing with anticipation. He's just about confessing. “I'm the one who orchestrated the whole thing. I snatched Brielle's parents right from under their noses, ripping them from their picture-perfect lives. i'd kidnapped her, held her captive against her will, and drained your bank accounts. But here's the kicker, Andrei… you're too little, too late. The police are already en route, and they're coming for you, not me.” I take a deep breath, my eyes burning with determination. “No way, Jeremy. I won't let you pin Jamie's murder on Andrei. He's innocent." He narrows his gaze at me, “You know, for a hostage, you're awfully opinionated.” I sneak a peek at Andrei, and his 'I've got this' expression makes me feel like everything's gonna be okay. I mean, Jeremy's still being his usual, awful self, but with Andrei's ca

Brielle's POV “Just trying to appreciate the finer things in life, Andrei. Like that fine-ass butt.” I admit feeling my face heat up. He chuckles, clearly enjoying my unabashed admiration, “that's… Probably the most creative compliment I ever heard and the way yours fills out that robe is criminal, Brielle.” I suppress the urge to turn around. This mutual butt appreciation is getting ridiculous – or ridiculously entertaining. He scans the room, gathering his belongings. Meanwhile, I stand there, a robe-clad without any to change into or not to talk of clothings to put in a box and yesterday's clothes that are so last season — literally. Just when the silence is about to get deafening, Andrei breaks it with a casual suggestion, “you should shower first.” My mind whirs. I’m thinking, Geez, how do I break this news to him without making it super awkward?” The last thing I want is to be standing there, naked, with no clothes to put on, while he just stares at me like I’ve gon

Brielle's POV I'm deliciously spent, my senses sated. Andrei executes a brief, yet vital, wardrobe adjustment, then turns around, patting his back invitingly, “Okay, up you go.” They say “there’s a first time for everything”, and today I’m getting my inaugural piggyback ride—. Courtesy of Andrei. With the grace of a seal gliding onto an iceberg, I slide my bare rear off the table, leaving behind only a warm imprint of my departure. I wrap my arms around his neck and hold on tight as he firmly grasps my thighs, lifting me up. With his support, I hop onto his back. “Comfortable?” He asks. “Mhm, perfect.” Our journey begins with a trio of solid thuds, Andrei’s feet hitting the floorboards of the pavilion as he descends. The night air is refreshingly still and quiet… except for the sound of my nervous laughter and Andrei's steady breathing as he navigates the stairs. His usually steady gait falters, his foot catching on some unseen obstacle, and my weight threatens to send him

Brielle's POV He leans in again, His mouth hovering over my breast, “How many white lies have you told?” “One.” He pulls back, “Think again.” I knit my brow trying to focus, to pull my scattered thoughts into some semblance of order. It's a futile effort. I'm still drowning in waves of pure ecstasy. Andrei's lips close around my nipple, and I moan at the sudden sensation. He releases all too soon, again. “Two lies, baby” he purrs. “The first, when you said you never fucked yourself.” His words ignite a thrill that courses through my body, culminating in a sweet ache between my legs. “And the second when you denied ever having fantasies. Now, are you ready to confess them to me… and be rewarded?” His grip on my hand slackens, freeing my fingers to roam. He’s upon me, his mouth latching onto my nipple. Sensation overwhelm my ability to think as His tongue swirls and dances, only to pull back again, letting my nipple pop out of his mouth with a wet plop. I writhe be

Brielle's POV “I'd taken his crap before, no problem. He'd kick my ass, I'd take it. But watch him hurt a three-year-old?” That chuckle, that creepy-ass chuckle, is making my hair stand on end. Andrei's got a lot to say, needs to stop drowning in that drink and talk it out with me. Perhaps if we can get to the root of whatever’s got him so twisted, we can cut it out, get him right again. I screw up my courage, trying to keep my voice from cracking as I ask, “What happened next?” “I lost it. Charged at him and slammed him to the ground. I had him in a tight chokehold, crushing the air out of him. His face turned purple, eyes popping… Killing Archibald wasn't the plan. Just wanted to put the fear of God into him… In a wild twist, he managed to grab a blade and… Carved himself a nasty gash.” Andrei scrapes his thumb along the side of his neck, “This is where he sliced himself. Fucker cried assault. Tried to put me away for attempted murder.” “And Helen?” “Was locked up a

Brielle's POV He gives my earlobe a sneaky little nibble. Damn, if that doesn't stir up something inside me, “Why rush when the journey is half the fun, hmm? We've got lines to run, not lips to lock.” So glad Andrei's here to suck the fun out of… everything. What would I do without him? I'm two seconds away from giving him a good shove, just to knock him off his game. “What?” he asks, that infuriatingly smug smirk still slapped across his face. I purse my lips, cross my arms, “You're really asking 'what'? Like you don't know exactly what you're doing?” Andrei whips out a sheaf of papers from his back pocket, "Shall we begin?” I narrow my eyes, “You expect me to jump right into this after all your little games?” He chuckles, shrugging one shoulder in a charmingly nonchalant gesture. “It's all part of the rehearsal.” “Part of the rehearsal, huh?” I retort, “So that little earlobe nibbling number was in the script? I must have missed that memo.” He laughs," I figure

Brielle's POV My heart stutters, “What?” I try to speak. The words wouldn't come out. Not one single word is showing up to the party. Wearing a sidelong smirk, Andrei jerks his head towards the elevator, “she's been tapping her foot impatiently. Shall we give the poor thing some attention?” Nodding, I swallow my regret. Why didn't I just say something? “I'm intrigued, Brielle. This demure side of you is… unexpected.” He plunders the guest room closet, digging through piles of high-quality linens, designer clothes, and expensive accessories. it's basically a carbon copy of his own — super luxurious. I stand back, curious about what Andrei's searching for. My nerves are still on edge, which is… ridiculous. “Guess, I'll coax them out of you. Every last one.” My curiosity spikes, “How?” “All in good time. Shall we get you into something a bit more… refined?” The robe he hands me is a stunner — bold red, V-neck, and flowing long sleeves, all accented perfectly with

Brielle's POV. Drying soap bubbles speckle Andrei's hands as he meets my eyes, “What's so fascinating?” “It's your charm, Mr. Carter, that's got me in a stare.” His mouth curves into a sly, upward tilt, “You're not so bad yourself. Maybe we can stare at each other for a while and see who cracks first.” Deep down, I'm thinking, 'Seriously, Mr. Carter? Are you not seeing this ensemble?' Perhaps he's just trying to be kind? Yeah, that must be it. After completing the dishes, Andrei takes a moment to dry his hands before wandering over to where I'm sitting, his pace leisurely. I stare at his bare feet, my brain momentarily fixated on the sight. “Why no shoes, Mr. Carter?” “Walking barefoot is like a yoga practice. Builds up the balance, strengthens the soles, and gets you in touch with Mother Earth.” I raise an eyebrow, skeptical. How much of that is actually true, I wonder? He reaches out and takes my hand, pulling me gently into his orbit. And suddenly, my focus shifts from An

Brielle's POV. Andrei’s sweatpants could have fit two of me—and the kitchen sink. He’s a big guy, but these pants were made for a grizzly bear on a beer bender. If I didn’t cinch the drawstrings tight enough, I’d be wading in a sea of fabric, wearing a tent masquerading as sweatpants. I’m halfway through adjusting my shirt when I catch a glimpse of my him in the kitchen. Oh, dear lord. The man might as well be wearing oven mitts for hands. I reach for a bottle of water, partly because I’m parched, and partly to cover up the fit of giggles that’s about to erupt from my lungs “You okay, chef?” I ask, trying to keep a straight face as I watch him fumble with the spatula. “Yeah, sure Brielle.” He scratches his forehead, and I can practically see the sweat beading up. Poor baby's never looked so stressed. “Sure you've totally got this, Andrei?” I survey the chaos, raising an eyebrow at the egg-astrophe. The shells are scattered everywhere and there's a bowl of what appears to be e
