DANIEL
I tapped impatiently on my desk as I waited for a any news about my mate's whereabouts. It was a weird feeling waiting for her news as I am not used to waiting for anything. It was quite annoying. It was also puzzling that she would steal from me before leaving. Was she a fugitive? Her family didn't seem quite fond of her too which might be a result of her appearance. Something I would have to address that later. A knock on the door brought my attention to it and I looked up to find Andrew there with a frown on his face. "Have you found her?" "You can afford to think of other things except your mate, Alpha," he replied. "I am working on it and already commissioned her family to do the same." "Yeah," I nodded. "I just can't find this sense of urgency." "Well, there's not much we can do," he shrugged. "The person in question doesn't want to be found and she must have blended perfectly into the human society by now. After almost six years, even her scent would be perfectly masked. "Are you saying I can't find her?" I frowned. "No," he sighed. "I am saying you'll have to be a lot more patient than you're being now." "I've been patient for almost six years," I gritted my teeth. "And you'll have to give us a little more time," he retorted. "Getting agitated now isn't going to help anyone." I glared at him for a few minutes, eager to blame him for the delay but I changed my mind as I let out a sigh. He was right. What I needed at the moment was a grip on my emotions and a clear plan on the path forward. "So?" I asked him as I adjusted my expression so I wasn't glaring anymore. "Why are you here?" He strolled over to a desk and sat down with a heavy sigh and a slump of his shoulders. It felt almost like he melted onto the seat. "Trouble at the borders, rising concern of the citizens and basically, dumb fucks trying to spark a sort of coup." I stared at him calmly as he rubbed his temple. He seemed quite exhausted, like the affairs have taken a more mental than physical toll on him." "So, I assume you have everything under control?" He looked up to glare at me but quickly corrected his expression and sighed. "I can do my best with it but I'm not the Alpha. We need you to be more active. Leave the search for Allison Hawthorne to her pack and myself. Focus on leading the pack like you've always done. That would go a long way for all of us." "What do you want me to do then?" I asked. "If you came here then you must have a reason for coming other than talking." "About the coup, we caught some of their members and they've been quite tight-lipped," he explained. "We've even had to stop their bastard leader from committing suicide at least twice or thrice." "I see," I nodded. "And?" "I need you to come threaten him into submission. These guys are extremely careful. Most of the guys we caught are just grunts. With the leader's eagerness to seal his own mouth, we're assuming he is a lot more than a grunt. He's been stopped from doing everything that could remotely impair him, even closing his mouth as we fear he would bite his tongue off. The presence of the most powerful Alpha would at least force some fear into him." I mulled it over for a little bit and shrugged as I made to stand up. "Take me there now." He nodded and lazily dragged himself off the chair as he led me out of the office. We walked down the twisting hallways of the mansion. The hallways were built as both a training for the Alpha and Beta and a defense mechanism for the pack to preserve at least the Alpha's bloodline in the case of an attack. The confusing hallways have been quite a chore for the workers and only a select few have been allowed to memorise the path leading to my office. These few have been brainwashed and are under an oath to never reveal the path to anyone as all who should know already know. They have been made to instead choose their death before they reveal that information. For the Beta, he is under a strong binding oath with me his Alpha that would kill him should he try to leak the path in anyway. As we walked down the branching hallways, navigating it quite easily as we headed for the dungeons, I couldn't help but think of how fruitless it was to go through all of this just to protect the most powerful figure. It would take a lot to hurt or kill me and those are resources these guys are unwilling to commit. I can protect myself quite well. We reached the dungeons soon after and I frowned at the noise as the prisoners either groaned and sobbed from their pain and desperation or jeered and insulted the guards in their arrogance. I made my presence known once I was in their midst and the dungeon fell silent as no one was willing to intentionally annoy the Alpha. A fate worse than death awaited them and they knew it. I was led to an isolated smell where I could already feel the malice from the imprisoned rebel before I saw him. I walked in to see a man seated and chained to the floor, with a ball gag in his mouth to keep him from moving. He was chained so tightly that he could move any part of his body except his neck as his torso was also chained to his seat. I stared at him for a little while and gestured for someone to remove the ball gag. Once it was off, he was about to talk but I held up a hand to stop him. "Don't be in a hurry now," I smiled. "I haven't asked you a question yet."MERLINI was stunned when Greta collapsed into my arms. Her body felt feverish hot and her heartbeat was so fast that I feared she was suffering a heart attack. "Greta?" I called and she gave no response. "Greta!"I immediately carries her into the lobby and was quickly shown to a seat long enough to lay her on. I took out my phone and immediately called 911, fear gripping my heart at the thought that something might be happening to her or the baby. Once the call was made, I hurried over to her side and held her hand as a few onlookers stared at us and hotel staff rushed over with a first aid kit, asking me about whatever led to her fainting. I was just as clueless as they were so all we could all do was try whatever might help and hope against all hope that she would be okay. After what felt like an hour, paramedics eventually arrived and immediately got to work once they saw Greta. They checked her pulse and moved her to the ambulance where they performed a few treatment proced
GEORGE As I lounged in my porch, listening to the sound of the fresh breeze blowing past my ear, I couldn't help but think of her. Eleanor. The woman of my dreams.......and the stuff of my nightmare.*Flashback*Wincing as I got up from the hospital bed, I noticed that my wounds had become a little more bearable than it was just yesterday. It still hurt like hell but the pain seemed to have lost a bit of its intensity. 'What do you know? The doctor may have been right.' I thought to myself as I slowly and quietly placed my legs down from the bed, hoping to not to wake the sleeping beauty beside me up.I have decided to make it my morning routine to force myself to the bathroom every day without help. While it is extremely tedious, slow and painful, it gives me at least a little connection to myself before the accident. I was never the kind of man to sit on his ass and wait to be attended to or catered for. I have always be proactive and extremely physical. A specimen of physical
GEORGE I got out of the car and rushed into the mansion immediately as a surge of unpleasant memories filled my thoughts and challenged my sanity. My chest was tight as I staggered across the living room. My heartbeat hiked up and I was incredibly winded up even though I hadn't done anything strenuous. Memories that my mind seemed to have saved me the trauma of remembering has been triggered by the revelations of Zubiar and even worse by the absolute betrayal of my mom. It hurt me to my core to be living with people who have proven to be potential enemies and being completely defenseless against them, without my memories to protect me from them. I felt so alone. It hurts to not know, but it hurts even more to remember. Especially with my dad. I remember the time he had starved me for days for an offence I never committed. I had begged for a while and even swore on my life that I never did the offence I was accused of but he wouldn't listen. He would isolate lock me in my room,
GEORGE I ignore Eleanor's glare at the sound of my words. She looked like she could almost not believe her ears. She stood motionless for a while and then nodded subtly before walking out of the room.Once I hear the door close behind me, I let out a tired sigh as I laid back down on my bed. What did she expect me to do?Stand up the second I hear that Gerald's in trouble and act like a father I am not? Why did she look at me like I was the bad guy here when I'm the fucking victim?!I loved that kid like he was mine. I thought he was mine. Even when she suspected foul play and warned me many times that Gerald was not my son, I ignored all of it because I wanted them to be lies. I wanted to believe that the offspring I had raised from infancy was actually mine. He was the only reason why I took all the bullshit I did from Zhara. He was the reason I let Zhara invadey life for as long as she has. He was all the reason I needed to tolerate that demonic woman for as long as I did. Yet
GEORGE I stared at the wall for so long that I had even lost count of the minutes I had been staring. It might have even been hours. My world is crumbling and there isn't a single pillar in sight to hold it up. I tugged at the handcuffs holding my hand in place on the bed and couldn't help but laugh. A bitter sound that I would never love to hear again, but I couldn't stop it. I just couldn't help but laugh at my predicament.Who would have thought? George. The billionaire with much more money and influence than he knew what to do with. A man who is envied by both the young and old alike. A man who got anything he wanted with the flick of a finger. A symbol of wealth and opulence. Who would have thought he would be confined to his hospital room in handcuffs, under the suspicion of having killed his parents in a brutally deranged manner?Who would have thought I would be subjected to such humiliation in my lifetime?Definitely not me.Unfortunately, nothing I did could stop my make
GEORGEI could barely stop myself from pacing about in my room from all the worry and tension building up inside me. My body felt hot from it all and my mind felt numb.I soon felt Eleanor's reassuring hand on my back as her soothing voice asked me. "What's wrong?""I just can't believe it," I said as I finally calmed down just a little bit. "Of all the people I thought I'd be facing in court, I didn't expect it to be Jesse. I mean, I knew he might not like me, but I didn't think he would go as far as eagerly trying to send me to jail.""Well," she shrugged. "I don't think that should be your focus right now. What is done is done. You need to focus on winning your court case."I stared at her for a few minutes in silence but she wasn't even paying attention to me. Her eyes were looking at the floor and there was no surprise in her features that Jesse was the frontrunner of the court case against me. As if she had expected it already."You don't seem too surprised by it," I stated cau
GEORGE After letting Eleanor pour her heart out to me, we remained in each other's arms for a while longer than what we originally had in mind. I kissed her and she returned my kiss as we enjoyed each other's company for a while, reluctant to disengage from the hug.Regretfully though, we eventually had to.The time for my court case is drawing closer and I needed to be there as early as possible. I needed to discuss with my lawyer before the case starts and since I'm the defendant, it's common courtesy to not be tardy. With that in mind, we both hurriedly freshened up and got dressed, ready to go begin my first court case and the beginning of the process that decides my fate and the possibility of watching my children be born into this world. Once we reached the car and got in, an awkward silence settled between us. Eleanor's mind seemed to have wandered as she stared out the window absentmindedly. I on the other hand, had a lot on my mind as well. Staring at her pregnant figure
GEORGE I freshened and dressed up quickly as Eleanor slept, fatigued from all the activities she had done the day before. I stared at her with a smile and hoped this moment was frozen in time. The peaceful expression on her face as she slept was nothing short of beautiful. I could imagine her smiling and I couldn't help it as my heart melted at the thought of it. I immediately took out my phone and took a picture of that expression before she woke. I regretted that decision almost immediately.I had forgotten that I have the flash on and with the flash of the bright light on her face and the shutter sound as well, she stirred.I had forgotten how light she sleeps. Her beautiful eyelids fluttered open and she stared into my dumbfounded as I froze in place. She blinked a few times before her eyes focused on me."What are you doing?" she asked in a sleepy yet melodious voice."Getting prepared for the hospital," I replied as I stood back up. "I need to go do a check-up. It's been a wh
