Alex stepped out of her apartment with a red scarf around her neck.
The breeze blew past her face and she stood for a while before moving. It was Christmas and the winter air was at its peak. It's not a new thing. Winter on Christmas can freeze you to death. The street was so Christmastic, every corner was decorated with Christmas lights. And children singing voices were heard. Typical Christmas in Greywave, it's always like this every year. GreyWave and her people don't joke with Christmas because they believe so much that the Savior of the world was born during that period which is absolutely the truth to the Christian Brethren. It's a season of love and homing coming for many and it's only a few that does not partake in the celebration because of whatever they believe in. A lot of weddings happen and so many others, it's in this period that the noble gets to display their nobility. Those who have cash spend them and the billionaire gangs cruise the community. Alex figured out that wailing and hoping for a love that is long gone was not her ideal way of spending Christmas Eve. She was supposed to be somewhere in town having dinner with Luke. If love fails here definitely she would find something which will make her Christmas Eve. She spoke well to those she encountered on her walk and smiled at whatever caught her fancy. The walk was refreshing and she was gradually forgetting the event of her break when but not so fast, the scene that played in her front brought back old memories. This guy was on his knees with people cheering him on as he proposed to his fiancee who happily accepted him. This could have been her accepting Luke's proposal one day. She has hoped that their relationship would lead somewhere. There was no sense that the relationship could end soon It's still a shock to her, what a world! She felt betrayed and cheated, why did Jake take it this long to say goodbye to her when he knew that he was going to say goodbye eventually? She felt her cheeks hurt and realized she had been crying. "Ma'am, are you okay"She jotted back to reality. She saw two pairs of eyes staring at her and those eyes belonged to a teenage boy who was in a red t-shirt and green trousers. It's obvious he is coming from Christmas functions. Alex wiped her tears and sniffed back the ones that are yet to come out. "My dear, it's nothing. Was admiring that couple over there. The way the guy proposed to the girl got me all tearing up. It's pure love" The teenager stared at her and nodded his head. He knows there is more to the tears but decided not to pry into her personal life. "Alright ma'am, it's just that you have been standing at a place for some time now, and since you are okay. Let me go back to my family. By the way, I am called Leon"He stretched his hand and Alex took it. "I am Alex, thanks for checking on me, and nice meeting you" Alex found herself saying it with ease unlike a few minutes ago. "The pleasure is all mine. Let me run along now but before I go, you need to know that wishes come true and miracles happen. Don't stop believing in having the best out of your life"He said, bowed slightly, and left after he waved goodbye to Alex Alex stood and stared at him. Do miracles happen? Can her wish come true, she doubts that. She shook her head and started walking again. *********** "Hey man, you just arrived?"Luke's best man to be, asked him as he just drove into the avenue for his bachelor party. Lucas had been here for over twenty minutes waiting for this dude but he has taken more time than required. He had told them he was going to end it with his ex-girlfriend. Imagine calling someone who is not your ex, ex before she becomes the ex. To Lucas, Luke was heartless. He has known this Alex girl for a while now and she has got no problem. There is nothing not to love about the girl. It is just that humans would not understand the value of what they have until they lose it. But what can he do, he is just his friend and nothing more, Luke would never hear a word of advice from anyone. So he can't kill himself. "Yeah man, I finally ended it with her but I am disappointed at her attitude"Luke said and stepped down from his Range Rover. He wore this proud look of a man who had achieved something great. Lucas shook his head and stared at him."Congrats then. Your old man called and claimed that he has been calling you but you failed to pick up"Lucas relies the message that has kept him waiting at the door of the bar. Why in the world would they host a bachelor party in a bar when Luke has got a large apartment plus his family has space for all kinds of parties? If foolishness was a person it's definitely Luke. "Yeah I did not want to go through his trouble so I did not pick up beside I was driving." Luke replied nonchalantly and made it to walk past him but Lucas held him back. You should have picked up the call, he sounded urgent. He said you should call him back when you are done with your nonsense." Lucas said and walked into the bar. Luke stared at Lucas as he made his way into the bar and he wondered why his grandfather had to call and needed him to call back. Hope this is not one of his troubles because he is not going to have it with him, he definitely hopes so. He dipped his hands into his pocket to bring out his phone but realized the phone was not there. He might have forgotten it in his car so he turned back and headed towards his car.Josh Bleak had been sitting in his car for heaven knows when and he does not even have a clue when he will be leaving there. The evening was becoming chilly and he had whined up his car window. His phone rang and it was his old man. He sighed and picked up the call."Hello grandpa""Young Man, where the hell are you? I asked you to come home to stay at home not to go stay outside. You know you are my eldest, every grandchild of mine misbehaving, learns from you because they emulate you. If you don't want me to have it hot with you, get yourself down here in immediately"His grandfather said and hung up the call, it was just a few seconds call. When will his grandfather understand that he is not a boy anymore? Josh Bleak is almost thirty and should not be ordered around. He pulled the phone from his ear and smiled with one side of his mouth pulled up. "Sorry grandfather but I have to disappoint you this time around. You asked me to come down to GreyWave and here I am, what you ar
"Hey mister, are you nuts upstairs, is something wrong with you? Let me go this moment!" Alex screamed still struggling with him, she was not having any of it. If she knew someone was in the car she would not have done what she did. She just wanted to see how puffy her eyes were and to try and clean her eyes. That's all she did but this monster of a man who has no human sympathy made matters worse for her and on it, he still kidnapped her. "Keep your hands off the steering, if not, you are going to get us both killed, young lady!" Josh yelled, he was having some much fun and the reaction on her face was making his evening. Damnit, this is going to be the best Christmas Eve. He knows he is crazy however why he is forcefully taking her with him is what he does not know, does it show the extent of his craziness? He just can't let her go even if he wants to. Alex stopped struggling with him when she realized that it was effortless. She needs to think of something to do. She can't be
Luke settled in the car and called his grandfather to know why he so wanted him to call urgently. "Grandfather"He said grumpily when the call got connected. The old man scoffed at his end. He can't believe that this grandson of his is just calling him now after he had ignored his calls severally. "Luke, get your damn ass home, the wedding is canceled" Senior Bleak said and the line went dead. Luke blinked twice and hissed, he is not sure he had his grandfather correctly. How can they just call off the wedding without his consent? Who did his grandfather take him for? After he broke up with his girlfriend for life because of the damned wedding, now it's off. This must be one of his grandfather's pranks but his old man does not joke about things like this. He is too old for jokes like this. There is only one way to find out and that's to head back to the mansion. He did a quick reverse and in no time he was on the highway driving above his speed limit. He was just praying and
Luke drove into the mansion and rushed out heading towards the main entrance where he met his grandfather waiting for him impatiently. It looked like he had been waiting for a long time."What took you so long to arrive here, young man, don't you know how to drive again?"Senior bleak questioned his youngergrandson. He can't believe how clumsy they are becoming."Sorry grandpa, I am here now. So why doyou need me home so urgently." Luke asked, hoping that he would say something else other than what he told him on the phone."Like I said, the wedding has been canceled. The Sahery has called to say that their daughter has gone missing therefore no wedding but the information I got said that she has secretly married her long-term lover and there is nothing I can do about that. After all, I never supported your relationship with her. So take heart, son and have a nice Christmas Eve, I will be in my room." Senior Bleak said and left with his bodyguard, he did not give Luke a second
Josh creased a brow at him. How can he say girlfriend when his fiancee is somewhere in London? Has Luke gone nut, is he mistaking Alex for Miss Sahery?"Sometimes you make jokes that make me what's to reset your brain. This is not Miss Sahery, alright." He smirked and caressed Alex's cheeks which aggregated Alex more. Alex sent him a daggered glare and looked away immediately. She has yet to process everything."Miss Sahery?" Alex thought and what she heard next made her heart stop beating. "This lady here has been cheating on me while I was away, now that I am back, I have decided to bring her home as my prisoner until she agrees to marry me. Freely or not, she is getting married to me." Josh said and made to drag her when Luke slapped him hard across the face. The time stopped ticking for a moment. Josh rubbed his cheeks and stared hard at his brother. The first time his younger brother is daring him without a reason, he would just let it slide. He had enough already from t
Alex managed a smile, she can't believe the old man still recognized her. It was just twice she made an appearance here yet he remembered her. That's heartwarming."Josh here claims Alex is his girlfriend"Luke said with a look of tiny hope in his eyes. His grandfather knows Alex so maybe he would help him stop Josh from his madness. "So Josh, I did not know you two were dating Miss Coker, what a world, and I was not aware" He said glaring at them both. He scanned Alex and realized that it might be a misunderstanding. It looks like Josh is up to one of his jokes again. If not, why would he handcuff and drag her like that? "Alex darling, I am sure you have got something to say about this. Kindly tell me why you are handcuffed by this rascal grandson of mine" Senior Bleak urged her to speak up. Alex grinned to herself. If Luke could betray her it's best she pays him back here and now. She saw the opportunity and decided to grab it. If Josh said she is his girlfriend, she can't wai
After a while, it dawned on Alex that she had made the greatest mistake of her life. She looked around and saw she was alone with two securities. She sighed and began to walk out of the sit out, now that he has freed her, she needs to find her way home and go clear her head. She refused to accept that she is getting married tomorrow, Christmas day. What is she to be called, a Christmas bride or what? She had gone halfway when she was stopped by one of the security personnel."Madam you are not meant to leave the premises, order from Mr. Josh" He said and Alex looked at him as if he had gone nuts. He does not want her yet he doesn't want her to leave. Is he so confused that he can't see that she is not ready to do this with him? "Sir I don't want to disrespect you but I need to go home, it's late already. Don't you think so?" The man shook his head and gestured for her to follow him but she adamantly stood where she was, not moving an inch. Let him do his worst but she is leavin
Luke could not tolerate how he was feeling and decided to confront his big bro. He had heard that Alex was taken to Josh's room and he can't have any of it. He barged into Josh's room expecting to see Alex in a compromising situation with Josh but he met the room empty. He sighed and wondered where she could be. Josh looked at him and continued going through his phone. It seems to him that Luke has lost his senses. "What can I do for you, kid brother?"Josh questioned him, Luke clenched his fist and felt like smashing his brother's head against the wall. "Bro, you can't do this. Go tell grandpa the truth. She is my girlfriend and you can't have her"Josh chuckled and kept his phone by the side. "Did you say your girlfriend, correct yourself, Luke. She is your ex-girlfriend because if I am not mistaken, you broke up with her this evening and you heard her, she still loves me and we are getting married tomorrow. Case close, do well to jam the door close if you make yo
31 December…. It was seven in the morning and Luke stood in the middle of his room staring at the fake will his lawyer had passed across to him not long ago. He had signed the document and told William of the latest development. William had told him to meet him right away. He pulled his jacket up and walked out of the room with the files in his hand. He walked past his grandfather without saying anything and continued walking down the stairs. Senior Bleak did not even mind and continued his way up the stairs. Luke walked to the box of keys and picked up Josh's car. He was not boarding any cab today. His car and that of Christy will arrive today unfailingly. He strolled outside and walked towards Josh's car, got in, and drove away. In less than twenty minutes, he was at William's hideout. He parked and walked in through the secret entrance. Getting inside, William was waiting for him. "That was so fast, you did what your father could not do in just a day. I am proud of you,"
Stacy Jackson stood shocked as her father handed her traveling documents and a permanent resident card for her sudden trip to Australia. He did not even allow her to come inside the house. "Dad, what is all this?" She asked in a high-pitched voice. "Young lady, don't raise your voice at me. You leaving GreyWave, it's what it is," he responded without any emotion in his voice. He had vowed in his heart that no daughter of his would be a nuisance and since Stacy couldn't stop being one in Greywave, it was better he sends her off to Australia to go live there. From now onwards she ceased to be a resident of GreyWave. Let him see how she will be running after Josh Bleak. "Dad, I don't understand what you are trying to do. I haven't done anything wrong. Why are you sending me to Australia to go and live?" She cried out. "You've done enough harm, Stacy. You're relocating to Australia and that is where you will live from now onwards. I don't want to see anything close to you her
Christy managed and stripped off her dress and went into the bathroom to freshen up. She did not take time, she came out as soon as she entered. One would actually think that she did not shower at all but the water drops on her body will change your mind. She put on a simple gown and went out of her room. Bobby and Gab with Mrs. Matilda sat at the dining table with Erica absent. Christy took a seat opposite her mother while Gab kept staring at her with a smirk on. She ignored him totally and forced her mind to focus on how to break the news to the family. Erica appeared a moment later and sat beside Christy and gave her a sweet smile. "You can as well put a smile on your face please," Erica whispered and Christy nodded. "Shall we eat now?" Bobby said, putting his phone inside his pocket. "Of Course, we should," Mrs. Matilda responded and asked Maria to dish out the food for them. Lunch was off Black Pudding; a meal made from blood sausage of animals, cerea
James drove into the National park and parked and then looked at Alex. She had gone back to being gloomy and he was not quite happy about it. "We are here, do you need any special thing you want me to do for you?" Alex smiled at him and got her purse."Not really, I will help myself through," she said and got down and started walking towards the park restaurant. A man with a black hood on stood in the opposite direction and pretended to be getting a ticket when Alex walked past him. Alex felt some chill down her spine when she passed the guy but continued walking into the restaurants regardless. The national park was filled with brims because of the holiday Families were soon having fun together. The national park was built in a way that it had everything starting from the Kiddies' arena to the adult arena, lodge, and eatery too.Alex got into the restaurant and ordered wine and chips. She wasn't there to eat but to have some time to herself but on second thought, she
Josh walked into Senior Bleak's study and found his grandfather bent on something. "Grandfather, you send for me," he said and Senior Bleak looked up at him. "Yes, I did. Get your father for me," Senior said and waved him off. Josh turned and left. Getting to his father's room, he saw him pacing around with his mom under the duvet. The atmosphere was a bit tense. "Father, Grandfather wants to see you," he said to his father and made to leave but his father's words stopped. "I heard you both are getting a divorce?""Yes, we are," Josh responded and waited to hear his father lash at him but JB did the opposite, he shrugged his shoulders. "Do what you think is the best," JB said and Josh was shocked by his father's reaction. This was unlike him. Things were going at a fast pace and he was just realizing it. Ever since the truth was out, relationships began to break. Susan glared at her husband and threw her face away. Instead of asking Josh why, he was telling Josh
Josh was beyond reasoning. He could not hold himself anymore. The man standing in his front used to ask questions before dishing out blames but since he found his grandkids, he changed, it just has to be about them. Josh felt he was no longer his grandfather who nurtured and loved him. "I see where this is coming from. Alex was right. When you are done with your nonsense, meet me in the study, and as for the divorce, I will make sure it happens because I am the reason you both got married in the first place," Senior Bleak said and walked out of his grandson's room "The young man's sense of reasoning had been clouded with jealousy. A man that is jealous of his wife is not fit to remain married to her," Senior Bleak concluded.Josh kicked the bed and raced down everything on Alex's dressing table. This was more than he could take. It had always been him and no one else, he should better go back to the old Josh. The one who didn't care about love. His holidays were over fo
Alex stood outside the door and let her tears flow. She stared at her wedding finger, her ring was not gone. She had returned it to the man who gave it to her. The man who had openly loved her for five days, the man who had suddenly lost interest in her because he figured that she belonged to the top and was threatened by it and that maybe, she would be chosen over him. Someone who claims to love you would not stop loving you because a table has been turned around in your life. That's what with the rich dudes, they want a trophy wife and once they realize that you wouldn't be or there was every tendency you will be richer than them, they will oppress you to the extent that your sanity will be forever gone from you. For a moment, Alex thought things would be fine but finding who she was had taken more happiness than it had given but no matter how hard it was for her to forget what had just happened, she would forget eventually. She thought of taking a vacation but decide
The Devon family members sat round the dining table as they had lunch. It was not lunch time but Mr. Devon insisted because of Ander. Ander had seen more than he expected. The whole family was hell-bent on making him happy and as well making him feel at home. Devon was definitely planning something big for Alex and Ander but he was the only one aware of it. He wanted to take his family by surprise. The lunch was over and they left the dining room one after the other to the living room. "So Ander, I was thinking if you should live here but if you choose to live at the other place, it's your choice," Henry said and looked at his father. Ander hasn't really thought about coming in to live at the Devon's Mansion. He had gotten used to his maternal home. "It does not necessarily mean I have to stay here permanently. I could live where I want," Ander said, looking from one person to another. "You are right. You have options to choose from. I am just trying to tell you th
"Can I ask you for a favor?" She asked, looking so humble, she just had to be that way so that he could grant her the request. "What favor?""Can I take a selfie with you?" Adeana asked."Sure, you can."Josh gave her permission and she took a couple of selfies. After that, she pecked him on the cheek and stepped down. "Thanks for today," she waved at Josh, Josh nodded and drove away. Josh left and the smile on her face got replaced with a smirk. "Men like you are easy to trick, you have trusted me so much that you told me your little secret. I don't mean bad, just that I am beginning to like you," she murmured and walked towards her apartment. Josh could not stop thinking about what Adeana said. He just realized that he couldn't vouch for his wife because he didn't know her that much. "What if Adeana was right?" He kept asking. Something at the back of his mind told him that she might be right. If Alex could not deny it then there was definitely something and th
