Dalia’s POV
“Wake the hell up Dalia! You are famous!” Emily screamed from the other side of the bed.No, no, no.. I need to sleep. But her excited screams wouldn’t let me. I buried my head further into the pillow. I don’t care if I am famous. I just need three more minutes of sleep. Her hands found the television remote, raising up the volume. It nearly deafens me. “You are on the entertainment news! Alongside West Inc. In cooperation with MELT’s new product. They call it Manhattan’s Peak!” She said dreamily and I was forced to peek out of the layers of blanket. “It says we can place an order to get it. I’ll be the first!” She continued mumbling to herself and I heard shuffling in the background.“What is Manhattan's peak? What headline?” I managed to see her desperately digging into her handbag. Then I glared at the television with all my might. It was the cause of this. No matter what, I won’t be able to get back to sleep. At the sight of myself and Manhattan’s PeaWe were about to check out of the suite when my phone beeped. I ignored it because at the same time, Emily’s personal assistants came in and were already carrying her suitcases out. They were four in number. Her work here was done. She was supposed to follow me home so that we could calm Dad down. Unfortunately for me, Emily received a call from Chris, telling her that her presence was needed in New York. Her flight papers were ready. I was disheartened to see her go.“It’s just for a night,” She chuckled at my sad expression. “I am sorry, I just couldn’t say no now that my acting career is down the drain. I have to keep my house and pay Chris.”That was a funny way to say that she has to survive and I smiled before giving her a hug. “I will tell you everything,” I was talking about the visit to the West mansion. She wasn’t tagging along anyway. “Call me,”She nodded, pulling away to glare at my attire. “I will. Don’t forget what I said. Keep away from reporters and
Dalia’s POVHe just embarrassed me. Although they won’t know who I was seeing as Emily covered me from head to toe.Dimitri gives me a curt nod. “I am sorry, ma’am.”I roll my eyes. What’s with his professional reply and where has he been? “What’s with that attitude and where have you been?”“You are no longer Ms. Dalia Thompson. You are Boss’ wife. I am not allowed to speak casually to you.” Answered Dimitri, like a robot.I scoff in disbelief. “When do you ever speak casually to me?! You know what? You can keep that attitude. I love it,” I sneered sarcastically. Emily will marvel at my sudden change in character.I don’t care.He didn’t say anything and the car was quiet until he suddenly stopped. I look out the window to see where we are. To my surprise, we were at the front entrance of West Inc.“Why am I here?” I ask in panic. I didn’t plan for all this! I didn’t get a reply but Dimitri wasted no time in opening the door. He was practically askin
She nodded happily. I think she has to be the only person I’d connect to here. And Isaiah.. “With three kids. Those parasites,” she says with a loving gaze in her eyes and I join her to smile dreamily. One day, I would talk about my boy like that.“We are here,” She interrupts my musing and the door opens to reveal a huge hallway. It was like walking into an exhibit hall as pictures about West Wing hung side by side.It was beautiful. We eventually got to Eros’ office door and I saw Sara knocking a bit before she opened it. Halfway across, I could see Isaiah behind his laptop. He must be so busy that he couldn’t even look up.They all were.Through the see-through glass, I found Eros on his phone with his back facing the door. I didn’t hear anything. The thought of seeing him alone gave me chills every time but seeing him standing so close made me really anxious and safe at the same time. I didn’t know what to feel. As if on cue, he turned towards us. The
“The contract,” He suddenly said and my heart sank. He no longer had that mischievous look on his face. He.. he is serious.“It’s at home.” I finally said without looking at him. Looks like we will have to go through all of this again. If he wants to ruin the little connection we have over some contract then...“I have a copy here,” he brings out the document probably from the same place he took out his golden pen. “The contract remains. We have a few rules to go over again.” Then he paused. “I am doing this to help the both of us. I am very particular about... certain things. So here.” He handed me a copy and I scrutinised it. I haven’t seen this contract since the burglary incident. It must be lying in the dust somewhere in my old apartment.I should visit there soon. “What rules?” I ask irritably. He goes into a business mood and I couldn’t help but miss his casual attitude earlier. I thought we were going somewhere.. Why the sudden change? Or maybe he didn’t chan
Hmm... I can count the times Eros has humiliated me. Anyway, I don’t think it would be wise to discuss personal issues with his personal assistant. Eros wouldn’t want such a relationship.“He is. I just want to know how you maintained your stance. I am sure there were others before you.”“I simply earned his respect. Our relationship is always hanging on a thin thread. But he can’t find another person like me.” He shrugged proudly.“Are you in a relationship, Mr. Isaiah?” I ask sceptically. He seemed young to me yet full of wisdom. It must be why he is the personal assistant to Eros. He knew when to stop prying and didn't act nosy.He nodded enthusiastically. “Yes. We have been together for six months now.”My eyes widened at the revelation. “That’s great! What’s her name? What does she do?” not that I need these pieces of information but I should at least know something about someone I am about to get information from.“Tracey Sharpe. She is the personal ass
The attendant glanced uncertainty at the clothes on the rack. They were the most expensive clothes she could find. And she doubted I had the money to purchase them.Well, she is in for a surprise. “All?” I dismissed her confused look. She nodded affirmatively with her hands folded in submission. “All.”I kissed the roof of my tongue while glaring at the labels and price tag on them. They were insanely expensive. I have a black card and I was going to use it.There was no way I’d have come here with a regular card. The label tags read West Inc.Just great.“West? As in West Incorporated?” I spelt it out for her, sighing when she nodded vehemently. She didn’t have to make it so obvious. Then a small smile found its way to her lips. “I have seen you on television.”I was wrong. She wasn’t wondering if I could pay for these clothes. She was wondering why I am here. What am I doing here? I just came out of West Inc. I turned to the clothes from Eros and sh
Perspiration poured from her forehead even when the AC was on. That’s right, work your ass out, young lady without control!“You didn’t take that,” I shot at the manager who was just standing around, ordering them. She followed my gaze.“What?” She asked, puzzled at the direction of my eyes. It was a rack filled with different handbags. I must be crazy doing all these. But the truth is I was bound to go shopping one of these days.Unfortunately, Emily isn’t with me to guide me. Today of all days...The woman refused to show a hint of surprise. She must be used to all these. “Right away ma’am,”At the end of it all, there were about fifty bags filled with clothes, twenty filled with handbags from different designers and thirty five boxes of hand made shoes. It was estimated to be over ten thousand dollars. It didn’t sound small to me and for a moment I wondered if Eros would be pleased or furious.Would he even notice such a small amount missing from his a
“Mr. Spencer,” Eros smirked at the older man in front of me. He looked like a butler... Of course he is! I mentally palmed my head at my conclusion. And here I was thinking Eros hated people generally. The old man was in his full butler attire. Like the stereotypes you’d see on television. Sprinkles of grey hair, boyish face, thin shoulders and long legs poised in elegance. His hands were covered in gloves.Eros picked us at exactly six. But not before dumping a load of surprises on my Dad. Then to pacify him, I gave him the suit. I didn’t tell him it was from Eros and there were only two in the world. He may keep it in his closet and never wear it. I couldn’t have that. I would love to do that to this gown but I found myself being persuaded by Emily’s calm voiceShe really knew how to use that to her advantage all the time. When I mentioned Hera West, she would hear none of it. Although I could hear the pain in her voice as she told me to wear it.She really
Dalia's POVThe days went by pretty fast. One afternoon, I was in the hospital, and the next, we were on our way to the West mansion. Eros didn't have to send a message like he usually did."You didn't leave the baby in the house, did you?" I asked Eros who looked better than he did a month ago. He barked out a laugh. "What? I already tucked her in."I sighed in relief. It happened sometimes because we were too preoccupied with each other. If Emily learns of this, she will take the baby from us permanently. I smiled at the thought. We were still in the first paragraph of the chapter. It was beautiful, just like I had always wanted. One time, I heard the maids discussing Betty. What she did when I wasn't around was nasty. Why would she seduce Eros? It was there that I learned that Eros had slept with her one drunken night. My heart sank at the discovery, but it was a long time ago. A long time, yet Eros hasn't said anything about it. Hold on a minute. I don't go about telling him abou
He had received the divorce papers, but they weren't signed. Good.Eros jumped at the vibration of his phone. He hoped it was good news. Then he frowned when he saw Emily plastered across the screen. He picked it up immediately. She hasn't spoken to him in a long time. He knew the reason."Dalia got into an accident. I will send you the address." She hung up and Eros panicked. He tried the number again, but it went straight to voicemail. Then the message came in. She was in Spain! He didn't mind. He would meet her anywhere. All he wanted was for her and the baby to be fine. The maids watched with hands folded as he turned the house upside down while preparing for the journey. They no longer saw Bethany Woods because they overheard Eros rejecting her during a heated moment. He said he loved Dalia and she was his wife. Betty had left with anger. Now, she has lost Eros as a friend too.***********It was a drunken mistake. Nick had swerved right into an upcoming truck. She had been lucky
It was a month until Thanksgiving. It's been two months since Dalia left the house. She didn't even take her belongings except for her phone. She had left his black card on the bed.Eros was a mess. He had gotten thinner. His eyes sank in. He was a shadow of himself. He didn't think she would take his words seriously and disappear for two months. There were no pictures, no news, nothing! His phone vibrated. It was the officer who caught the burglar months ago. Adkins. "Have you found her?""No." came his disappointing reply. It has been like that. Every call was disappointing. When Eros arrived at the office, he didn't know that all eyes were on him, watching his every mood. His staff avoided him like the plague. Not because he was angry, but because of how tired he sounded and looked."Jeez." Sara muttered under her breath. She was consoling Tracy. Her boss won't be coming to the office forever! Or so she thought. "I don't know what to do." She was thinking of calling Jeffrey, but it

The letters! Dalia mentally facepalmed. She should have kept it well. Away from Betty's hideous eyes. She thought she had them hidden.Eros' face was ashen in color and when he didn't say anything in reply, it occurred to Dalia that he already knew about it. Her heart sank deeper. She didn't think about telling him because it was nothing. Maybe when they went to the office the next-day, she would have told him about Nick. Only if he asked!A loud knock on the door pulled Dalia out of her thoughts. Eros sighed, making his way upstairs. "They are here again. Increasing by the minute all because of my foolish wife."'he called me his wife' Dalia realized with sadness. It was at that moment she knew that she fucked up. Now she has Eros in a tight spot. He may not look like it but Eros was enraged. It's just that he just apologized to her yesterday so it seemed like he was tired instead."I am sorry!" Dalia cried out. She didn't know what to say that would soothe him.Eros paused on the se
Dalia paced the room up and down. She was restless and could not place her butt somewhere. "Pick up, Emily!" She gritted out. How did it happen? Nick only grabbed her because she was about to leave! They were not doing anything like whosoever that took the picture was suggesting!Emily picked up at the third ring. "What the hell? Dalia!""Emily! What should I do? I know everyone has seen the picture. I don't think Eros should see it.""Eros should never see it. Go and see for yourself and make sure he doesn't have his phone around him."Dalia nodded, opening her door. She was down the stairs in a flash. "What should I do if he has already seen the picture?""I don't know. You love him, I don't." Emily's downcast voice dampened Dalia's spirit.Dalia could imagine her friend shrugging in helplessness. "I swear, it was a mistake!" She was still explaining to her dearest friend when she saw Eros with his phone. He wasn't looking at it but beyond it. He was looking at her. He knew about th
Dalia's POv.The next morning…I arrived just in time to see Tracy drop another letter on my desk. What is it this time around?! The letters were getting frequent! I am not in the mood for his pranks and silly antiques.I dismissed her quickly, snatching up the letter.I tore it open expecting to find cheesy lines, but I didn't see any."Come to the park by 7:00 p.m.; I have a surprise for you." Why would Eros ask me to come to the pack when he snubbed me on his way to work this morning. What surprise does he have for me? I folded the piece of paper in anger, dumping it into the trash bin.Tracy walked in with a cup of coffee. Just what I needed for my already puffy eyes. "Not in the mood? I have got just the right thing for you." She subtly eyed the dark shades sitting on my nose.I have nothing to say to her.I left work early because, I mean, who can stop me from leaving whenever I want to? Not even Eros, because I am pissed at him.The park was almost empty. It was evening, and
Dalia's POVShe was always right. My dear Emily. Why is she friends with someone as daft as me? She told me to confront Eros about Betty because she was biting more than she could chew. I have decided to take the bull by the horn today.I need to hear from his mouth whether he loves her or not. If he says he loves her, I will move out of the way, give birth to my baby, and divorce him. The baby won't have to live his life thinking he was born out of wedlock. When it comes to custody of the child, I won't allow him to get away with his misdeeds. The drive home was quiet as usual as I mused over the things Emily told me that afternoon. She expressed her anger for Betty and wished she met the bitch one more time. Her words, not mine.I entered the house to see Eros in aprons. He greeted me with a small smile, which made me confused. He has never smiled like this at me. The last time I saw him smile, only in a bigger version, was with Betty! My mood was already sour and damp."Your food m
Dalia's pOV. I found Emily later that afternoon slurping down her lunch. She had consumed two bowls already. It was noodles and boiled egg. Rosalind's Diner was an old Korean diner that specializes in homemade noodles. I almost snorted when she raised her messy face. A noodle got stuck at the side of her chin. Today she was putting on a blue belly blouse that revealed her smooth arms and palazzo jeans. From where I stood, I could see her belly button and her shaved armpit when she drank from the plate. "Eating lunch without me." Emily paused only to look at me before going back to her meal. "That's why I suggested this place." She said with mouth full. She looked wicked whenever she did that. "And I foolishly agreed with you." I turned to the woman sitting behind the counter. "A bowl of noodles and fried egg. Add extra spring onions, and chili." At the look of her confused face, I pointed at my baby bump. A look of realization clouded the form
