An Overwhelming Protective Feeling

I woke up today with a certain restlessness that I couldn't quite figure out the cause. I felt my wolf pacing up and down as well. We are both unsettled but can't precisely pinpoint the reason.I sigh. I try again to ask Luca my wolf if he has any idea, but he tells me he is equally as clueless as I am. Exasperated, I start pacing up and down my office.
Suddenly I am engulfed by this strong desire to go and see Summer my niece. The feeling is indescribable. It is like an overwhelming need to protect her.
I am baffled. What is going on? Even for my twins, I have not felt this overprotective."Just get up and go see her already!"
Luca snarls at me. To say I am baffled is not even appropriate. I am literally paralysed in shock. He has never once used that kind of tone with me. Just as I was about to go out, Hannah the omega who is mute brings me coffee.
"Do not drink it Luke!!"
Again my wolf startles me by that statement. What is it again??
"Just know that everything is not always what it seems to be."
I wanted to throw my own smart come back but something tells me that there is a stirring in the spirit. So I grab my jacket and leave the coffee untouched. As I reach the door , Manny, my son bumps into me.
"What the heck Manny.? Aren't you supposed to be in school?"
" Oh yes daddy, but I turned back because I just saw aunty Tina dashing into the hospital holding Summer. She was looking unresponsive. At least from the distance that's what I saw. So I...."
I didn't even wait to hear more. The pack hospital is not far but on foot it can take up to twelve minutes. I just used my superhuman speed and I was there in just under a minute. As an alpha, I don't need to phase into my wolf form to be super fast.
I reach the hospital and find a distraught Tina sobbing in the waiting area. She rushes to me and literally threw herself on me. I pat her back and ask what happened.
She takes time to calm down then opens up.
"Oh I'm sorry alpha Luke for being this emotional."
Huh?? Tina calling me alpha is both shocking and suspicious. Is it because she is distressed that she's being this modest. Truly if we were not at the hospital, I would have laughed my heart out. This is a first.
"I was moping the stairs and she came out running. Then she- she slipped and fell down. So I think the impact made her lose consciousness. Dr Boyce said she suffered a concussion but it is nothing a werewolf can't handle."
She pauses a bit then looks at me with a deep sad expression.
" I don't know why I had to mop before they left for school. Am such a bad mother!"
She mutters mostly to herself but I heard it anyway.
" There , there Tina, don't fret. She's in good hands. Let's wait and here what the doctor will say. Let's get in."
I try to soothe her but Luca just snorts and grumbles.
"I don't know why you're still wasting time with her. Let's go in already and see Summer!"
Buddy I too have this strong feeling to be watching over her. Relax. We are in this together and we'll get to the bottom of this.
I walk into the room. The moment I lay my eyes on Summer, I get an overwhelming emotional outburst. I want to engulf her in a big hug but I settle for holding her hands since she's lying there unconscious.
As I stroke my beloved niece's hand, Something unusual happens to me. I gasp in shock as I just can't believe what's happening.....
Tina POV
I enter the hospital and I see Luke holding Summer's hand. Fine that's normal. But what peeks my interest is the fact that I can't sense his presence.I go near the bed and it's as if there is an electric barrier. I literally get zapped. What!!! I try again but it's like time has stopped for them and I just can't penetrate. I try to use my power to break the barrier but still I feel like we are in different time frame. I shiver in both fear and excitement. Fear that I might be discovered soon and excitement that I am going to have a worthy opponent at last.
If this mutt is the reincarnation of who I think it is then I'm gonna have so much fun breaking her. I have to do it fast before she realizes her full potential. I grin like a maniac and rub my hands in anticipation whilst licking my lip.
"Oh you so have no idea how long I've waited for you."
The Dark lord has to hear this. But I gotta wait and make sure she is whom I think. I can't mention her name for it is taboo. If she is the one then my allies will see the sign. This is getting exciting!!
