He remembered her just as she was, despite the years they hadn't seen each other, the years they avoided seeing each other because Robert represented something she despised, a reason for Mr. Graham to divorce her and marry Robert's mother.

Alice felt Robert tense up, and only then did she realize why Noelia had such a wide smile. She was winning this silent battle.
