~ELIZABETH~It was almost mid night, Beauty had for sure gone to sleep already. Since David walked out on me few hours ago, I hadn't heard from him. He still needed to calm down, so I was giving him the grace of tonight and tomorrow. I had picked up a pillow and blanket to spread on the couch so as to spend the night. I had no idea what room to sleep in, Beauty obviously didn't want me in her room and David has slammed the door shut. Not like I would want to sleep in his room in the first place. There were two rooms left, one for Kelvin and the other for their mother. I had no access or permission to go in there. Plus the couch was not so bad. If things got cold in the night, I had a blanket to help me. "What're you doing?"I was so used to David speaking out of the blues that I did not jerk or act surprised at his arrival. "Trying to sleep, what does it look like I'm doing?" I raised a brow. "We have rooms upstairs, plus I already prepared the bed for us," he frowned and my jaw d
~DAVID~"David!" I jerked up at the sound of my name. "What the–" I stuttered with wide eyes as I scanned the room for the intruder. No one was even in there with me. "Wake up! Elizabeth says breakfast is ready," Beauty said. Then I realized she was the one that yelled my name before I woke up. Hissing, I got out of bed. The thought of actually taking a bath or brushing my teeth before leaving my room crossed my mind but I shrugged it off. But then I remembered that Elizabeth was just downstairs and she definitely was not ready to see the careless and dirty side of me. So I concluded on brushing my teeth. It was better than nothing. ....Sluggishly, I walked out of the room to find my sister and scold her for yelling too loud. My head hurt from her scream and I could have sworn that I hit it on the bed frame. My scheme and plan for my sister's dismay vanished when the aroma of something cooking met with my nose. It felt like heaven and I was going to exaggerate however I wanted.
"Elizabeth, can I come in?" David was right outside and I was going through his stuffs without permission. Hurriedly I shoved everything right back into the drawer and scurried around the room looking for a more suitable position for him not to suspect. I jumped on the bed and brought out my phone, pretending to be going through my gallery."Yes, come in," I answered him breathlessly. The door clicked open and he walked in, looking at me with narrowed eyes. "You alright?" David asked, still standing at the door. "Y-yeah, why wouldn't I be?" I stammered, juggling my phone on my hand. "Just curious. You said you wanted to have a bath, I just came in to hurry you. We have a long day ahead of us," he smiled and it was my turn to narrow my eyes. "What is happening today?" I asked him and he shrugged. "We're going shopping," he responded. "And that would take the entire day?" I frowned as he nodded, leaving me alone in the room. I looked at the bed I had just jumped on to find a t-
~DAVID~Her voice was nonchalant and quiet as she spoke, she held no emotions in her eyes and I knew instantly that she was mad in her own world at me. I managed to shove Becca away from me and grabbed the cup of coffee that finally reached me. "Elizabeth I–""She's the girl everyone in town is talking about," Becca interrupted me and I hissed, face palming myself. "Good afternoon," Elizabeth smiled plainly at Becca. "Good afternoon, you're more stunning than they say you are," she moved towards Elizabeth and I hated my life immediately."Thank you," she replied. "You two have to come to the club meeting," she told Elizabeth. I wanted to say no but I was willing to let her take the decision. As long it got me to take her out. "What club meeting?" Elizabeth asked with furrowed brows. She was mad yet she found it easy to compose herself, it was stunning. "It's for us old friends to meet up and possibly make new ones. Who knows maybe we could be friends," Becca explained. "Yeah m
~Elizabeth~ He was just downstairs, patiently waiting for me to get ready. I was ready—not really. My dress and make up was perfect and on point but mentally, I was no where near ready for the date. It was not only impromptu, but was also my very first date with anybody. Then he decided to tell me out of the blues!"Elizabeth, it's been four hours and counting. Come out!" David yelled, making me jerk. Picking up my purse, I took one last glance at the mirror and headed out of the room without thinking any further. When I reached the living room, I found David seated on the couch looking bored as hell. As usual, he wore a tuxedo and it fitted him well."I'm ready," I called for his attention. He looked up at me, his eyes immediately giving me a once over. My face heated up but I enjoyed that a man was checking me out. "I told you the dress was perfect for you. You look beautiful," he complimented and I but my button lip so he didn't notice how shy I became. If I was a few shades l
~Elizabeth~"David get up. We are already late," I pouted trying harder to pull him up from the couch. "Is there no way I can change your mind?" He insisted to be settled on the chair, pretending to be interested in the series playing on the television. "We promised to go," I argued with him. "I know. But I've been to the party before and it never ends well," he looked at me for a moment but then turned back to the television. "Fine then, I'll drive myself there," I finalized. "You don't know the place," he gave me a smirk that did nothing to sooth me. "I'll use GPS. Or call Becca," I retorted with a hurl. "You don't have her number and I will not allow you get lost under my care," David rolled his eyes, making me narrow mine. "You are the most annoying person ever," I gave up, falling carelessly on the chair and slouching lower on it. I crossed my arms around my chest with a pouting face. David warned me, but as usual I almost never listened. The party sucked. Every other party I had been to was organized and mostly with less noise. This place was someone's house crowded by more humans than the place could contain and the music was so loud I felt my ears drums were going to pop out. Nothing they did here was moral, they drank and were mostly drunk, danced like whores and some of them made out at almost ever corner. It was like a typical teenage party only this time adults all over town attended it and behaved irrationally. Worst part is, I got separated from David since I came here. We had been here for almost an hour and he was nowhere to be found. It bothered me and I did try to look for him but I decided to stay put when some guys–men began to ask me to join them on the dance floor. I was in the living room, seated on the smallest part of the couch as other people sat beside me, shamelessly making out. I couldn't complain, he warned me not to go but I insisted a
~Elizabeth~Finally, my peace and quiet. Just void.No thoughts to think, no needs to worry about, no shame to be so afraid of. I rid myself of the world. They are bound to miss me but after a while they all would move on. It was best this way. "I need you not to die," A distant voice said. That's funny, I am already dead. It was all I ever wanted—not to be dead but to have peace. I had peace within myself and I enjoyed it. "I am not myself, I don't know what to do if you're not here to remind me," There it is again. That voice. I did not know who it was but it felt oddly familiar. They wanted me back. There was no way I could return, I made things worse for everyone. "Elizabeth please...."The voice again faded to thin air. That was it......Immediately, I was on a path with two ends. One led to where the faded voice was, and the other was more of my peace and quiet. What I had always longed for. I knew I didn't have much time to think thoroughly about it and what was b
~DAVID~ "Are you sure you're okay?" I asked her again. "You've asked me that like a million times. I swear I'm fine. I should be asking you." She smiled softly. "Just a bruised cheek. I'll be alright." I told her. "I'll need you two to report a..." An officer began to speak but Kelvin interrupted him. "No, if you need anything meet me. Don't spoil their love time." He pulled the officer away from us. "Love time." I said more to myself than anyone else. She made it clear she didn't want anything to do with me in that aspect. So I promised not to push it. "Are you coming back to work?" I changed the topic entirely. "Yeah, about that," she started and I groaned out. "I'm sorry, but I can't come back. I mean I'd love to but..." she trailed off. "But?" I asked her. "But I want to try
~SEGUN~"What Sandra?" I said to her. I really wasn't in the mood for her type of talks."It wasn't part of the deal." She said."What wasn't part of the deal?" I dipped my hands into my pocket."Killing him or molesting her." She replied and I rolled my eyes."When you put it that way," I started, taking my time to do a small laugh. "It's changes nothing. You shouldn't be dumb enough not to know that if we let any of them go alive they'll rat us out." I told her."But...""But what Sandra?!" I shouted."But David can't die." Tears clouded her eyes."Don't be a baby Sandra. Other guys are out there. Hotter and more wealthy than he is. You can just go for his brother or something." I told her but it didn't help her stop crying.I could care less about what she felt or thought. She was usele
~DAVID~He was the one behind all this. Of course he was. I just never expected it to be him. We barely met, even when we did, just a formal conversation. So what exactly did he hold against me?"Segun what do you want?" A sigh left my mouth. I wasn't too shocked at his presence. He was a pathetic human being. Everyone knew that. All I didn't understand was why he brought Elizabeth into it."Well, you don't seem surprised, especially for someone who has been kidnapped." He smirked and I rolled my eyes."You hate me. I get it, a lot of people do. Why bring her into it? She has nothing to do with you." I spitted out."She's just beautiful." He replied, sending a disturbing smile to Elizabeth."Can we be serious here?" I glared at him."Oh, if I'm serious then you're going to end up dead."~Elizabeth~
~Elizabeth~"What is going on?" I asked quietly but no one gave an answer. David and Beauty were so interested in whatever they were doing–looked like they were packing up. "Guys..." I trailed off, moving closer to them. It had just been two days since I arrived from the hospital, they both made sure I stayed in the room to rest and according to David, his lawyer was handling Becca. Apparently, the proof I had with me was a very big deal to help them finish the case with ease. "We have great news!" Beauty shrieked with a huge smile on her face but she never stopped what she was doing. "What is it?" I pressed on, hoping to be a part of the joy ride they were having. Finally she stopped packing the clothes on the couch and turned to look at me. "Your boyfriend here is leaving for Nigeria in few hours. Come help me chase him away," she replied, going back to packing the clothes that were obviously his."This doesn't give you a reason to bring your so called boyfriend into this hous
