The sun hit Aramide's skin as she walked out of the airport with her traveling bag in her left hand. The Afro-haired woman sighed as she breathed the air of London. Nostalgia hit her in waves, She took a few minutes to access her environment, Everything seemed fine. She breathed again.
Aramide just needed to take things one step at a time. This was for Aracely, not for anything or anyone else, She was going to face her past so her daughter could live.
She headed towards the car that had been waiting to take her to the hotel she would stay in while she tried to find Cole, it was almost funny though, So many years she had put so much effort into trying to hide from Cole, and today, she was looking for him.
She was the one —who now had to look for Cole. It was simply pathetic, All those years she had hidden her daughter from Cole, just so this disease would force her to his doorstep to tell him th

“You are here,” Aramide said as she pulled out of the hug Daniel had trapped her in. The man smiled as he looked her down, Aramide hadn't changed much, she looked the same as she did five years ago when they had met again. He had just left rehab and Aramide had just started up her new business in Las Vegas then. He remembered how difficult it was — Trying to locate Aramide amongst the seven billion people in the vast world, but he had found her — that was all that mattered. “Yeah, what are you doing in London?” Daniel asked as Aramide moved away from the door and invited him in, He seemed relaxed and reserved as plopped down on the hotel bed, before his gaze met hers and she figured it was time to speak. “How did you find me?” “I have connections, people owe me favors, ” He replied gingerly, Aramide rolled her eyes. He snickered before Explaining a bit “I got in
Angel wiped away his tears furiously as sobs racked through his body. He was currently walking down the street. In the heat of the argument between his parents, they had failed to notice he had left the house. He could barely see through his tear-filled eyes, The ten-year-old was confused and in dire need of comfort. But he didn't want to go back to his home. It was too loud. He wondered why his mommy didn't like him, he didn't like her too though, she was mean and was friends with Rick, Rick was a meanie, Rick was bad. And if his mommy was okay with it—then his mommy was bad too, right? Besides his mommy was never around, She was always with anyone else but him and his daddy? He barely saw him. His daddy was nice though, He never got angry easily or sent him to his room even when he was hungry. But his mommy doesn't allow his daddy to visit frequently. His mommy was a meanie! Angel was so lost
Aramide was dead silent. Her heart raced a mile a minute as she bit her lips, The night wasn't getting younger and her mind wasn't racing slower, even in the dark, Daniel could make out the shock written on her features, the way her long eyelashes were raised as confusion laced them before her gaze met his and their eyes locked. Aramide looked between Daniel and the little boy again. The little boy that was currently staring at her with fear in his eyes, why was he scared? What did she do? She tried to reach for him but he pulled away from her and ran right into Daniel's arms. In reality, of all the things Aramide thought would hit her in the face —Meeting Cole's son was the last thing she thought would Occur, but now, they had crossed paths, And this boy, who looked frightened, full of fear and probably ran from home was Cole's son? She had never pictured Cole as the best father in the world, yes. but this... this was disturbing.
“Aramide—” “Please don't say no” Aramide begged as their eyes locked. She looked at him through her wet eyelashes as she bit her lip, at this point, she was sure she was going to bleed. “I'm begging you, Cole,” She tried “If our past and our love, meant anything to you, then please, Please help our daughter” She begged. Aramide hoped to everything she believed in that Cole would accept, Yes, she had to admit, she kept his daughter from him, she hid the truth from him for eight long years, but she didn't have a choice, if she had told Cole, the custody battle would have ensued and their daughter would have to stay in foster homes because the process always took a long time, her daughter was too fragile and precious for that. She knew she was asking for too much. Yes she was the one who completely shattered their relationship a few years ago, but she had chosen herself back then, it had been best for everyone.
”We're here" Aramide informed the taxi driver. The car pulled to a halt and she got out. The moment her eyes met the hotel though she froze in her spot. Aramide couldn't tell whether it was the tears that currently blurred her vision or the hurricane of emotions in her that was the cause of her seeing thing now, she squinted even more to get a good view of things, her heart rate quickened, He was here, Cole was here. The question that remained floating in her mind though was — How in the world did Cole get her location? “What are you doing here?” Aramide spat through her venom-laced tone, “What? Wasn't it enough? you came here to finish what you started?” She challenged. Aramide wasn't exactly as intimidating as she would have wanted. The bags under her eyes and the way she slowly drew deep breathes were more than enough tell tales that the woman was completely exhausted. Aramide glare harden
Aramide didn't know whether it was all her emotions building up or it was just the sight of her daughter tied to those tubes, probably it was the heart machine and its annoying beeps. It was the only sign that her daughter was still on planet Earth. But the woman found herself breaking down all over again, Her Aracely — wasn't getting any better. Aramide was clothed in the familiar hospital dress and scrubs, She held her daughter's hand and softly caressed the eight-year old's, nothing was worse than seeing your loved ones in a coma — Neither alive nor dead. InAracely's case, the only thing keeping her alive was the oxygen mask currently draped over her tiny nose and lips. The white walls never gave as much comfort as Aramide would prefer and the scent of antiseptics always hovered around her sensitive nostrils. The woman forced a smile as she pulled out a chair she hadn't noticed before and sat beside her daughter, H
Aramide dragged her feet on the ground as she took small steps towards the room that her daughter was in, the doctor had just informed her that Aracely was awake and she had raced to the spot, Her hands hovered over the door handle as she sucked in a deep breath, Cautiously, Aramide opened the door, and she had barely finished hearing the door creak when a small voice croaked out “M-momma” The voice sounded unreal, so unfamiliar and Aramide felt a warm feeling run through her skin. She still could not accept that at one point she imagined that she would never hear this — Her daughter's voice. Tears involuntarily fell down Aramide's eyes, In that moment she felt complete, She had yearned to hear that voice for what seemed like forever, She stayed frozen in her spot as a smile crept onto her lips, carefully tugging on them. Aramide placed her hands over her mouth, As tears
Blaire felt a lump grow in her throat as she looked over the files in her hands over and over again, she had no clue what to feel at this point, was this true? Were the contents of the paper in front of her legit? Had she just been kidnapped by her daughter, by her Tania? Her little girl? The one whom she thought had been dead for twenty long years, the one she had searched for under every rock and bottom in this world, The one whine everyone considered dead, was she "Do you believe me now?" Tania said as she locked eyes with Blaire, "It's me momma," she tried when she still saw the disbelief in the woman's eyes, her lips curled into a frown as she got up from the bed the woman was currently sat on, it had been days since she had kept Blaire her, Last night she had decided to tell her everything, she wanted her mother to know she was alive and breathing, that she didn't die like everyone thought, once she had her mother on her side, no one would be
“I never imagined things would end like this mom,” Aracely’s hands traced the table as she stared at the mirror. She was in her mother’s dressing room getting ready and the brown-haired girl was almost sure that she was going to fall into the nearest bed and doze off. Aracely had no one else to blame but herself though. The nineteen-year-old knew that it was a horrible idea to go out partying all night yesterday which was Christmas, knowing fully well her parents’ wedding was today. “You still took stunning” Aramide commented as she finished up on her makeup. Aracely bit her lip and smiled. The brown-haired girl pulled her mother’s chair back and knelt in front of the woman. “I’ve never told you this but…” she paused. Her breath hitched and her eyes watered with fresh tears. “Thank you” Aracely breathed. Aramide’s eyes glistened with emotion but before she could speak, Aracely took the woman’s hands into hers, “Thank you so much for being my mother for –“ “Aracely, what’s g
“I didn’t believe it when I heard it.” Aracely said when she caught the reflection of a brown haired boy with green eyes at the familiar lake. Her fingers tugged on her white gown as she struggled to breath through her tears and the warm feeling in her chest. She took a step forward and ignored the pain that shot up in her foot when she hit a small rock. She could remember the night she had found this place.Or better still that she had fallen off.She had just left her home for fresh air after her small argument with Latifa- Latifa. Aracely still struggled to accept that she was gone. They had spent their best years together, struggling through the twisted maze they called life. Aracely knew Latifa didn’t deserve to die, no one did. But she was dead. She got she got straight to the head no freaking questioned asked and why? Because she was related to Aracely. Aracely grew up understanding the meaning of l
“You did it,” Bola whispered as she stumbled back, a bit of blood escaped her lips as her hands went to her stomach which had blood rushing out of it. At this point, everyone had frozen and Aramide let the gun fall out of her hands as tears filled her eyes “ I knew you had it in you.” Bola said as she fell. Aramide’s hands covered her lips as her feet remained glued to the ground. She felt someone hold her from behind and it was then she realized from the strong scent of lavender that it was Cole. Tears filled Aramide’s eyes and she couldn’t tell if it was tears of relief or sorrow, she finally regained control of her limbs and walked over to Bola. She knelt in front of her and said “I’ll never understand how and why you did this? I’ll never be able to accept that you have always been like this…” “A monster?” Bola replied hoarsely as a tear rolled down her cheeks, she was laid on the ground her
The first thing Aramide noticed as she walked down the aisle was Aracely’s wide smile, her daughter looked so pretty. She was wearing a short pink gown and had a white bow on her brown hair, it was tied in a ponytail, the wedding was to take place in the garden and Aramide had to admit that Mercedes had done a great job with the decorations, the aisle had been designed with roses, not too far ahead. Efrain stood by one of the two pillars that held up the small space where the couple was to stand under. The chairs that were set in the garden were white, the scent of thick lavender filled the air, it was Aracely’s favorite scent and Aramide could vaguely remember that the scent lingered on Cole too. Aramide mirrored the smile on her daughter’s face, she was holding hands with someone – Cole. Aramide wasn’t sure she remembered when they had gotten together, but over the past two months, they had gotten closer. Ar
Aramide sighed as she stared into the mirror, she was dressed in a white gown and had a beautiful tiara on her newly styled hair. Her hands traced the jewelry on her neck and rested on the space between the jewelry and her off-shoulder dress – where the amulet rested. The one that bound her to her daughter for so many years. It had been a few months since Daniel died. Since he was buried and since Aracely had broken down in pain. The first few months had been horrible, Aracely barely ate or moved around, she was confined to the four walls of her room. Mercedes was devastated. She refused to look or even speak to Aramide. She blamed the brown-skinned woman for her brother’s death and she wasn’t wrong, to be honest. She was right. Aramide could still visualize the compounded images or Mercedes’ eyes with dark circles and her lips pursed into a line. Cole’s deep stares and sighs. The way his hands slowly ran through his
Bola groaned as she slowly opened her eyes, well, one eye. The thick smell of smoke filled her nostrils and she scrunched it up. She bit her lip as she glanced around, she knew something was wrong, yet she hadn’t been able to pinpoint what it was. She could recall going over the hospital that Aramide had been in to get Cole back. That man knew too many of her secrets and now, Aramide knew then too, she could also recall that Aramide had refused to let her take Cole. An argument ensued and things got a bit bloody from there, but how did this happen though? Had she been caught? Was she in prison? She desperately needed answers now. The blonde woman looked around from her place on the bed, she was slowly becoming aware of everything around her, the small night lamp beside the bed, the fact that the w
Aramide let out a shuddered breath as she walked towards the coffin in front of her. The coffin that had Daniel inside. She traced her hands over it and her eyes filled with tears all over again. it had been a few days already. They had all stalled the burial because Aracely insisted that she wanted to be there and deep down everyone was scared and reluctant to say goodbye. Nevertheless, they were all here now. The loss had always been a pain in the neck. Death? death never knocked — It never warned you — It never gave notice and it didn't even barge in. It came like a thief and it stole. it stole someone's life— someone's peace of mind — someone's source of happiness, someone's brother, sister, mother, father, daughter, son. Today Aramide had to say goodbye to someone who always wanted her to stay. She bit her lip. You only really know what you had till you lose it. till a
Bola grunted in pain as she continued down the sidewalk, stumbling into things as she struggled to see with only one eye open. She dragged herself across the ground as she tried not to fall unconscious. One of her hands was over her eyes with a cloth — trying to control the bleeding. Bola was sure that if she survived this—she would make Aramide pay for all the pain she was going through and the fact that she may lose her eye. After everything Aramide had taken from her, now, she wanted to steal her eyesight too? the woman was despicable in Bola's opinion. Bola knew that the probability of her surviving this was very slim. Yes, she had managed to escape before the cops arrived, but that didn't mean that there wasn't this lingering fear of what would happen if she got caught. The last thing she needed was to end up in a maximum prison cell for Daniel. That man wasn't w
“What's going on? Why is no one speaking up?” Aracely asked with worry etched on her features. She had just woken up, her hands clawed on the sheets as she tried to stabilize herself. It was obvious she was still weak and probably disoriented as well with the way her eyes navigated around the room, curiously breaking through her face like wrinkles. “It's not—" Mercedes tried but Aramide cut her off. “You need to be strong Aracely.” Aramide said as she walked over to her and held her hand, a smile spread across the girl's face. ”You are here,” She sighed in relief as her eyes filled with tears, they weren't of sorrow — yet. Aracely reached out for her mother and squeezed the woman's hands tight “What about Daniel? Where is he?" Aracely asked she tried to find him in the occupied room but Aramide was blocking her view. “He didn't come with? Did he go get something? Is he talking to s
