Chapter 1: Boss
Aaliyah slammed the door to her apartment, making her best friend who was in the living room jump, almost knocking over the glass of water she had in a cup.
"What's wrong with you?" Her friend, Tia asked. Aaliyah sighed taking a seat beside her, her eyes scanning the books Tia had out, as she was studying for an upcoming test, she was in med school.
"What's a nice way to tell my boss I want to smack her over the head with a chair?" Aaliyah asked, her boss, Samantha had been moodier than usual, Samantha had told her, that her husband was going to take over the company since Samantha was going abroad for a year, he owned the company anyway, Aaliyah was one of the few people who knew they were married.
"Power through, just two more years left," Tia told her as she wrote down some notes into her book. Aaliyah and Tia were planning on going to England, but they needed to get enough money to afford a house and two tickets.
"You're right, just a few more years, plus I don't think I'll have to deal with her bullshit, her husband will be taking over, or so I've heard, I'll know by the end of the week."
"See there's a bright side to all of this," Tia told her, deep into her notes.
Aaliyah sighed getting up, deciding to take a shower.
-
After her shower, she changed into something comfortable, before going into the kitchen, looking through the fridge, she sighed, disappointed as all she saw was ingredients.
"Don't worry I'll cook," Tia said.
"You sure?" Aaliyah asked as she didn't want to disturb her studying.
"Yes, I don't want you to burn down the kitchen."
"That was one time!" Tia rolled her eyes, smiling as she took out the ingredients she needed. "I'm making a salad." Aaliyah phone buzzed, she looked down it was a text from her boss, Samantha.
Work
Be here tomorrow by 5:00 am
She groaned, this woman knew how to ruin Aaliyah's mood even from home.
"What?" Tia asked as she cuts the vegetables, one by one, making sure not to cut her finger off in the process.
"I'm going to bed, I need to wake up at 5 tomorrow, leave the salad in the fridge." Tia nods, telling her goodnight.
Aaliyah went to her room, as soon as she touched the bed, sleep welcomed her with opened arms.
-
A few hours later
The sound of a phone woke, Aaliyah up as she answered it.
"Hello?" Her voice was deep.
"Where are you?" Aaliyah heard Helena, one of her coworker, realization hit her like a car, she looked at the time it was 4:30 am.
"Shit, I'll be there soon." She hung up, quickly taking a shower, before changing into her work clothes. Aaliyah rushed outside hailing a taxi.
It took a while but she finally got one.
"Where too?"
"Parker's Corporation." She gave him the money. He started the car, driving off.
Aaliyah looked at the time it was 4:50, "Could you drive faster?" She asked the man.
"N--" He started she gave him a few extra dollars. He sped up, reaching her building in 7 minutes, thanking him she rushed inside, using the elevator, it took her to the top floor.
She looked at her watch it was 4:59, as soon as the elevator door opened, she stepped out, almost everyone from the top floor was in the middle of the office.
"It's now 5:00 am anyone who hasn't arrived as yet will be fired." She heard a male's voice, Aaliyah eyebrows furrowed, who the hell does he think he is.
"Who is he?" Aaliyah asked one of her colleagues.
"Our new boss, Samantha's friend, or lover we don't know yet, Antonio Parker ." Aaliyah wasn't surprised their attitudes were the same, they were married for 2 years after all, but she still hoped he was just a little stressed because of the fact his wife would be flying away for a year, as she would be his assistant and she didn't want a nightmare like Samantha.
"Sir, some of them live across the city and this was unexpected." Someone told him.
"Since it was so unexpected do you want to take a place of the many persons I fired?" He asked.
"No sir."
"That's what I thought, does anyone else have anything to say?" No one spoke. Aaliyah moved up more to see his face, she made sure she was close but not too close, his hair was black, curly, it was very tall but not too tall, he had brown skin and dark brown eyes that were light brown in the sun, his suit matched his black hair, the shirt inside was white and his tie plain. His face was a void of emotions.
"Good, I want everyone to come at work at this time, no slacking off, who was Samantha's assistant?" Everyone turned to Aaliyah, she forced a smile.
"That would be me." His eyes took in her 5'11 frame.
"Great, everyone goes back to work, you follow me." Everyone sent her pity gazes as she followed him to Samantha's office.
"Fill me in on everything, I need to know."
"Well I'm Aaliyah Davis, I worked with Samantha for 6 years--" He cuts her off.
"Work-related Ms Davis." She nods, telling him everything she believed he needed to know.
"And that's all, I have some files I think you should read over, so you can be up to date with the meetings you will be having today or should I reschedule them?" He shook his head.
"Don't reschedule them, send a copy of the meetings to my email." He gave a piece of paper, that held his email.
"Sure, is there anything else I can do for you?"
"Some coffee would be nice, black, no sugar." She nods leaving his office.
"You survived," Helena said making Aaliyah chuckle.
"He's actually not bad."
"Whatever you say, I have to go before he sees me slacking off." Helena walked off. Aaliyah couldn't call Helena her friend, they were just friendly with each other.
Aaliyah went to the cafeteria, making a cup of black coffee.
When she went back to his office, knocking on the door.
"Come in." When she entered the office, she saw Samantha sitting in the opposite chair.
"Sir, your coffee." Aaliyah placed it on the table. "Is that all sir?" He nods, just as she was about to leave, Samantha spoke up.
"The paparazzi could have caught you with her."
"Who I sleep with is none of your business." He told her, no emotion, Aaliyah expected some type of sympathy, he cheated after all.
She opened the door leaving them, taking her thoughts with her.

End of Chapter 1: Boss
-Chapter 99: Fruits & Mother In Law-About four hours had passed since Antonio had left, and honestly, I was feeling extremely lonely, but I knew I had to power through until this whole scandal had blown over."How are you feeling?" Tia asked me the second I answered her call, and I unconsciously caressed my stomach."Good besides constantly throwing up my food," I confessed with a bittersweet tone."Is Antonio taking good care of you?" She inquired, and her words only reminded me of his absence and my longing to see him."He's at work, but Maria's here with me." "I'm guessing he'd doing damage control?""Yeah," I confirmed while sitting up on my bed the sound I felt the urge to vomit rising from the depths of my throat."Do you think this can be resolved?" She questioned me as I brought the bucket that was located on my table to my mouth as I moved off the bed."Hopefully, I-" I began, but was interrupted by the rejection of my food that found its way out of my stomach and through
- Chapter 98: Sadness & Grapes - Hearing those words should have brought me nothing but joy, unfortunately, the only I was feeling was fear. It was the same fear I had when I heard Brittany say that the chances of me surviving childbirth were extremely low. "Aaliyah, are you still there?" I heard Tia which pulled me from my thoughts. "Yeah, I have to go Tia. I'll talk to you later." I immediately hung up before she had the chance to respond. "Is everything alright?" Antonio asked the second I placed my phone on the counter. "Sort of." He raised a brow moving toward me. "What do you mean?" "A few days I asked Tia to do a blood test on me..." This didn't seem to make his concern lessen as his brows were now pulled together showing both his worry and confusion. "What were the results? Are you sick?" I shook my head.
- Chapter 97: Call & Tia - Aaliyah’s P.O.V I wasn’t too shocked by his announcement because I saw the pictures of her baby bump earlier, but now that he admitted it I realized he didn’t just lose Lillian, he lost his baby. “How long ago was this?” My father asked, “About 3 years.” Antonio responded softly, looking very tired from all the questions and I wasn’t surprised as I would be too if I was being hounded like this. “Y—” My sister Isabella started but I spoke, cutting her off. “No more questions for tonight.” No one made a move to object. “Alright, we’ll go home.” My mother said as she stood from the chair she sat.
- Chapter 96: Video & Pregnant - Aaliyah's P.O.V I stayed silent as the video played as I was curious about the big secret this person had about Antonio’s family. ‘The Parker family have been known for their multi million businesses, they seem normal at first until you gaze into their background and family members. Raymond Parker’s niece, Ilaria De Luca is the leader of one of the biggest American Italian mafia in the states. He and his son Antonio Parker have been seen doing deals for her with different mafia families, including The Andersons and Petrovs.’ Many pictures were shown of Antonio talking to a tall, muscular man who had dark brown eyes and black hair who stood beside a woman with brunette
- Chapter 95: Date & Truth - Aaliyah’s P.O.V I stared at Samantha waiting for her to speak up and answer my question. Tia seemed wary of her presence after the things I had told her about Samantha, she unconsciously took a step in front of me as if to protect me if anything happened. I doubted Samantha had the guts to hurt me, but I also knew her obsession with Antonio would probably drive her that length. “Answer me, what are you doing here?” I asked once again this time there was much more venom in my voice. “I’m here for charity.” She answered with a creepy smile that had the hairs on my arms standing. “I don’t believe that for a second. You weren’t invited.” Samantha nodded walking towards the sink, resting her purse
- Chapter 94: Permission & Without - Aaliyah's P.O.V “Aaliyah, don’t worry everything will be fine.” Tia reassured me, “Yes, with the little time we’ve known each other, I know you’re a fighter and you’ll get through this.” Marcus added, making me grin expressing my amusement. “You both are acting like I’m already on my deathbed.” Antonio slipped his hand in mine. “You won’t be until you’re 80.” I raised a brow at this. “I don’t think I wanna live that long, it seems tiring.” He smiled, placing a kiss on my forehead. “I can’t wait until you two have children,” Brittany stated, with a big smile that made her husband roll his eyes as he took a sip of his wine. “In other words,
