“You’re my honey bunch, sugar plum, pumpy-umpy-umpkin, you’re my sweetie pie. You’re my cuppycake gumdrop soogums boogums, you’re the apple of my eye and I love you so and I want to know that I’ll always be right here, and I love to sing sweet songs for you because you are so dear.” Aimee sang with a wide happy grin as she drew Hello Kitty’s face on the cupcakes, humming as she squeezed her piping bag.
For the final touch, she grabbed the bottle of pink sprinkles and showered it above the cupcakes. She stepped back, arms on both sides of her waist as she stared at the pretty pink cupcakes. Her grin grew wider, eyes squinting like a kid.
She craned her neck, eyes wandered around the small kitchen. Flour was everywhere as if it was snow, some bowls were left untidied on the sink, but the girl only smiled; lips sealed together while she rubbed her neck. A kid in a kitchen played with tools and mixed ingredients. That’s how it may look like but beneath the surface, the kid knows what she is doing.
“You’re my honey bunch, sugar plum, pumpy-umpy-umpkin, you’re my sweetie pie,” she chanted once again. The oven timer rang and she marched her way towards it, wore her oven mitts, and took out the freshly baked cake. Her eyes closed as she sniffed, and the warm, sweet, cheesy aroma almost watered her mouth.
Who would’ve thought that this kid runs a cake shop she rents every month of October?
And the cake shop is always the talk of the town for its sweet, appetizing pastries. She's a bit messy inside the kitchen but it is undeniable that her cakes are both attractive and delicious... Due to the demand, she now has resellers and conducts deliveries. But the Ameira in AMEIRA’S SUGAR PLUM SWEET CAKES remained anonymous where only the real owner knows.
After doing the strawberry cheesecake’s toppings and decorations, she immediately boxed the cupcakes she made earlier. Fifty cupcakes in ten pink boxes, everything Hello Kitty as what the client has requested. After closing the lids, she placed the popular unicorn logo of the shop on the box’s top surface. The strawberry cheesecake then made its way inside a box, packed and now ready to deliver.
Aimee leaned against another baking table behind her. She smiled and then yawned, causing her eyes to water. She wiped her cheeks and the corner of her eyes using the back of her hand. She heaved a sigh of relief after glancing at her unicorn calendar on the wall.
Her cupcakes and cakes are now for delivery. Might as well take a long nap after cleaning the mess and baking a few more cupcakes for display.
She began picking up the used bowls and utensils, washed them thoroughly, wiped them dry, and placed them back in its resting places. She wiped the countertops, removed the flour, wiped her sweat with a clean towel of hers, and went on cleaning the rest of the baker’s tables all while singing the same sugar plum song with her sweet, youthful voice.
Meanwhile, Aleja’s forehead wrinkled as he tilted his head up to read the giant pink storefront sign.
AMEIRA’S SUGAR PLUM SWEET CAKES.
He couldn’t help but stretch his lips into a smirk. His eyes squinted as the sunlight hit his face. When he looked straight, he saw his faint reflection on the glass walls only to reminisce memories.
Fifteen years after being imprisoned for a crime he did not do, he finally exited the walls of the city jail. Aleja is extremely determined to be free because he knew, without a doubt, that the real murderer is still out here, fostering evil. Sure, he wasn’t the first of his kind that was accused and jailed without doing anything wrong, but he will not keep silent about it and make them pay.
Money and power are ruling the world in a bad way.
He needs to get out of prison without the person who threw him in, knowing. Hence, he knew he needed to take risks. He became a hitman working for politicians, killing high-ranking government officials. Through this, he was able to enter and exit the city jail. Instead of cash, he asked for them to help him be released earlier from prison which they gladly agreed.
Aleja’s jaw clenched as he stared at himself.
Now that he’s free, he can finally put into action the plan he had thought of for years behind bars.
Justice will be served by his own hands. The evil must pay for its sins and suffer more than what the innocent had. 'In a world where justice is a marionette of money,' he thought, 'sometimes it must be you who must handcuff the devils to death, yourself.'
Knowing he’s not entirely free because of the case filed against him, he must not be involved with even the simplest trouble. While executing his revenge, he knew he must also find evidence to finally clear his name and prove himself innocent. Being out here still is uncertain freedom since his politician acquaintances only managed to alleviate the verdict that instead of forty years, he was out fifteen years earlier. He will then take this opportunity to seek vengeance against those who jailed him and find the real culprit of that incident fifteen years ago.
After fifteen years, it's his first time stepping into the streets of Manila and breathing the outside world’s air. The long time he spent inside the city jail slapped him with another truth; he’s not getting any younger. And today, other than his release date, also happens to be the day of his birth. The same day that drastically turned his life upside-down. He despises this day so much, he never had plans on celebrating it,' but plans change,' he thought.
“Where are you? Where’s the cake? Have you bought one already? The kid wants you to hurry, it’s also his birthday, dude!”
He sighed, holding his phone near his ear.
“I’m about to. Calm your rumbling stomach, Kendrick,” Aleja speaks and drops the call even before Kendrick could reply.
He never thought that a cake shop would be the first place he would visit on the day of his release. He wasn’t even able to visit his dad’s grave.
After having another sigh, he finally entered the shop and was greeted with everything pink and unicorn prints and stickers.
“I look like a dad, buying a cake for a daughter’s birthday,” he whispered, slowly shaking his head. It was only then he realized, he was alone.
“Hello? Is anyone here?” he said, his deep voice echoing across the room. No one has answered yet. He took the chance to grab the free cookies placed by the counter. “Not bad. Not so sweet, not too plain. It actually tastes good,” he said to himself and grabbed more, hiding it in his pants’ pocket.
He slouched slightly and wandered his eyes on the cakes displayed in the pastry display cases. Every delicacy looked appetizing. A small smile formed on his lips when he saw that round, rocky road cake.
“Kendrick left me a thousand, I just hope it’s enough,” he murmured.
When he stood upright, he saw a glimpse of the kitchen where a girl in a messy bun and a bandana headband walked around. He noticed white spots on her neck, cheeks, and even on the hair, which is obviously flour.
'Tasty cookies but does she bathe with the flour?' He thought.
And then he heard her hum and sing a familiar nursery rhyme.
“You’re my honey bunch, sugar plum, pumpy-umpy-umpkin, you’re my sweetie pie. You’re my cuppycake gumdrop soogums boogums you’re the apple of my eye and I love you so and I want to know that I’ll always be right here, and I love to sing sweet songs for you because you are so dear.”
Unconsciously, his lip curved into a smile and then he leaned forward, resting his elbows on the countertop, and watched the girl bake and sing. Aleja took several bites of the cookie from the free cookie basket as he seized the opportunity to witness a slight behind-the-scenes of how the cake shop creates its delicacies.
His smile reached his ears when the girl began to dance while humming. Sure, he enjoys this peaceful scene, he did not even notice he was slowly banging his head to the beat as the girl sang. His heart softened at the sight. He felt like he was apart from the world when he was behind bars, he lost his freedom, he felt caged; witnessing someone do what she loves and dance like no one’s watching, he felt he can be free too. He wants to be free from all the burdens of the world. This girl made him feel happiness like no other, her calming voice took him to a paradise of smiles.
At that moment, his soul knew meeting this girl was not an accident.
“Done!” Aimee heartily smiled as she finished drizzling sprinkles on the icing of the cupcakes. One-by-one, she placed them on a decorative tray to display on the counter.
Holding the tray’s handles with both hands, she turned around only to freeze on the spot. Someone was staring and smiling at her. Before she could even move, her eyes were immediately captivated by his manly smile. 'The most beautiful smile she had ever seen in her entire life,' she thought. He looked stunning with his pepper stubble and deep brown eyes.
She smiled as sweet as sugar. She left the tray on the table and wiped her hands on the apron before taking it off.
Aleja blinked as he saw the girl up close. Fascinated by how she acts and speaks like a little kid. She did not even bother to remove the flour on her face and fix her hair, but to his eyes, she still looks stunning.
“Hi! How may I help you?” Aimee said upon arriving by the counter.
Aleja stood upright and tried to bring back his straight face.
“Uh, this rocky road cake, please,” he said, stopping himself to grin widely. “How much is it, miss?”
“It’s 850 pesos, sir! Anything else?” Aimee always had this smile on her face every time she talks to customers, her mom always reminded her to do so. She knows smiling has an effect on people, 'look at sir now,' she thought, he’s turning pinkish-red!
“N-No, I’ll only take the cake.” Spending a long time in prison made him forget how to talk to ladies, thus his malfunctioning while in front of the girl.
Aimee packed the cake with a smile, and even added a free cupcake as part of her yearly birthday giveaway. To her, if it’s her birthday, it’s everyone’s birthday as well. She went back to the counter with two boxes, one with the cake and the other with the cupcake.
“Uh, I did not order—" Aleja instantly reacted.
“I know, sir,” she said softly and handed him the boxes. “Happy birthday! Have a wonderful birthday and I hope the cupcake will make you smile!” Aimee wished, both index fingers at the corners of her wide smile. “You look lonely, please smile at me again.”
A smile formed on Aleja’s face and patted her head. He wasn’t sure of how to respond. He hates his birthday, but he never knew this year would be a memorable one.
Aimee, Ameira’s birthday alter, always reminded her of her mom, the person who taught her to bake.
“Thank you,” Aleja said, words oozing with sincerity. After paying, he exited the shop only to see her still smiling. The girl formed finger hearts at him which made Aleja hold his chuckle.
“Weird but cute,” Aleja whispered, shaking his head with a smile before making his way to Kendrick and his friend's family's place.
Aimee’s eyes squinted as the sunlight hit her face. The light from the sun might be quite blinding, she always loved the warmth it brings as it touches her skin. For her, it’s a light and calm embrace, just like what her mom does before. After a long day at the cake shop, she took a nap and finally removed the ‘Ameira’ in AMEIRA’S SUGAR PLUM SWEET CAKES before the real owner arrived to take over. Sure, the shop owner was confused at first with the girl’s request to rent the shop during October but knowing how excellent Aimee’s baking skills are, she agreed and was not disappointed. The sales of the shop hit the roof at this time of the year, and with this, the real owner thinks she does not need to know the true reason behind this rent a shop plot, anymore. Ameira set a single important condition which the owner agreed; Aimee must not do the deliveries. She must not be seen by many though she could still do the customer service at the shop. Ameira did such to keep ten-year-old Aimee s
Misty’s eyebrow rose as she watched people pass by her. Arms crossed on her chest, thinking where the hell can she get money to change this Mickey Mouse pullover and denim overalls into something fashionable for her taste. She leaned her back on a mall’s staircase, sighing and almost stomping her feet in disgust. 'Shitty childish fashion sense, Aimee! When will that kid ever change? Why don’t they wear something pretty? Tacky outfits everywhere—oh gosh, my eyes are gonna burn! This is making me stressed! No way, I’m gonna get wrinkles! This is all your fault, Aimee!' She ranted in her mind. Among her siblings, she believes she’s the prettiest and sexiest, with a great fashion sense, that she can flaunt in every outfit no matter how much she disrelishes them. Well, she’s still thankf

Aleja laughed out loud with Kendrick's jokes. He was also introduced to Samara Evangeline who was once chased by his friend when they were in University. "STOP!" Misty shouted loudly at the man who refused her. No, she will never let him go just like that! No freaking way! She wants him. She will make him fall for her and beg for more! But the man did not stop and just kept walking. Misty was so annoyed that she took the stilettos she was wearing and threw them at the man before she could climb the stairs. This was because the Paradise club was downstairs and hidden. It is a big city and many people come here, whether they are artists or businesspeople. Misty was about to take a step when someone suddenly grabbed her hand. This time, she exploded even more in anger. Her ears were red as she looked at the person who had stopped him. "It's you again?! I told you, I don't have time for you. I'm married and I'm chasing my husband! Let go of me!" "I don't care about the fight between you and your husband. You hurt me and I can't let you go just like that," the man's tone was low yet brave. Misty chuckled, "So, what do you want me to
Upon arriving at the apartment where she was staying, Ameira headed straight to the bathroom. She washed several times, violently washing her face until she was satisfied. Then she looked at her face in the small glasses hanging in front of the faucet. Some makeup has been washed away, but there are still traces of lipstick and mascara on her face. "What just happened to me?" she asked herself as she examined her face in the mirror. Her eyes widened when she realized what had happened. She quickly grabbed the wig she was wearing and threw it straight in the trash. Her back was smeared with bruises and marks from the insult and from those who wandered on it. It may be covered with foundation but you can see the marks when you look closely. Others say that women are most careful not to get scarred or have any marks that can disfigure a woman's body. However, this is normal in Ameira's situation. This proves that she is alive and even in spite of everything, she chose to continue ra
Her personality keeps changing every October, the month of her birth, no matter how much she tries to prevent it. In the past, she remembered how happy it was when her mother was still alive and how hurt she was when everything changed. She sighed and shook her head, then covered the peanut butter and set the remaining bread in the basket. She got up to get a glass and headed to the fridge to get a drink. Her fridge was bare except for a pitcher filled with water and three eggs. She also returned the pitcher after drinking enough and returned the glass to where it was placed. The glass wasn't so dirty so it was okay to put it back. It will result in a waste of water. She walked into the room and sat down at the table where she was working, opening her laptop. A portion of the wall was covered with images, locations, occurrences, accidents, details of how the victims died, and of course, a map of Manila with varied directions. There you can see how and who her victims were. T
AMEIRA is on her way to the convenience store where she works. Everything you need for your home is already there, such as food, materials, and paint. Her hands were in her pockets as she headed to work. She wore a long black cloak, which she used to wear so that she would not be recognized. Maybe she didn't want anyone to recognize her identity because her beauty undeniably grabs attention, she doesn't know why. Her eyes were just focused on her feet, and her face was expressionless. Many convenient stores, such as the sari-sari store and food stalls, have already opened, and many individuals were getting ready for work and were now opening their shops. There is also not only one convenience store, but a plethora of food businesses in this area. There are some that are even bigger than the convenience store where she works. Ameira looked up when she saw the store owner, a middle-aged woman, opening the convenience store where she worked. She ran quickly to help her. "Good morning
Episode 26.3: Continuation the last part... Ameira put her ear to the cell door and listened to her. "No. This is not true. Everything that happened was just a dream. Right. I'm just dreaming. I just need to wake myself up. Not everything is real. That's right. Let's wake up from these dreams now. They have already died, and I am already done with my revenge. I can start over with my life." That's the phrase she keeps mumbling to herself. The same goes for the two criminals. In spite of her best efforts, she is unable to talk to them normally, as if they have gone insane. She was about to leave since she already got what she wanted, but one of them said something that made her freeze at her place."Ameira. The name of the woman who gave us the medicine is not human, but our greed. She's our demon side." She slowly turned her head to the side, looking at the rusty iron door."What did you say?" She asked unimaginably, almost dropping her jaw."She's going to come to us and kill us all

Episode 26: Continuation... "Wait!—Did we hear it right? Did Ameira just laugh?" Derek couldn't believe what they heard; his eyes widened unbelievably while he grinned."No. It was amazing to hear her laugh for the first time in history. Wait! I'm gonna grab my phone to record this moment—Ouch! That hurts Casya! What's that for?!" He growled when Casya hit his head so hard."Stop it," she scolded."Why? It is wrong—""Let's go to business. Let's see what information everyone has gathered about the murder case." She gets down to business with her usual look of being as cold as ever, walking towards the long table. She drew the chair to the center of the table and sat down. The three followed her, and they started sharing information about what they had found, and the clues left at the scene."As you can see, on the bodies of the victims, there was no forceful injury on them or any wounds, and even in the autopsy, they did not find anything on their bodies, and according to the report,

Like in previous cases, there was no sign of harassment or murder. I’m afraid we won't ever find any leads about those dead bodies, and now another cold case has occurred. The plaintiffs have already pleaded guilty, and the victims' families want them dead too. So there is no way they can escape.” She examined their bodies one by one as she took pictures. Her thoughts wander, and she wonders if they truly committed suicide out of guilt. It's too suspicious. She remembered when she visited and investigated them personally. When she also watched the recording where they monitored those sinners inside the jail, they seemed to be dreaming. They thought those events were just a dream and none of them were real; even the jail they are staying in is only in their dreams because, in reality, they are innocent and have never been there at the
Ameira was about to leave and just ignore them, but her team leader blocked her way. She looked up to meet his eyes and saw his snobbish face. 'What with his attitude? Tss. Forget it. I don’t have time to bicker with him," she whispered to herself in the back of her head. She was about to walk on the other side when he blocked it again. She sighed between her nose and her mouth. “Do I know you?” she asked in a low tone.“Stop your act, Ameira. I told you; you can fool anyone but not me. You can change your face, but your eyes cannot lie. Next time you disguise yourself, try to cover your eyes as well. You aren’t good at all,” he hissed.Ameira wasn’t bothered at all by him, despite having revealed her real identity. No matter what disguise she wears, she will be discovered because, as the saying goes, there are no secrets that are never revealed. She walked by and passed him. She’s too lazy to quarrel with him, and not to mention she needed to investigate the three suspects' deaths. T
“Primary care?” Ameira crinkled her forehead upon reading the words written on the notepad. She looked up to see the name of the department. She scoffed. "Are they fooling me?" she bitterly asked at the back of her head. Do they want her to work in this department? Do they even know she hates crowded people and is surrounded by sick patients? She was about to step back to leave, but before she could make any movement, the tinted glass door opened and called her. Ameira left no choice but to turn around and stare at the person in front of her."I told you you'd need my assistance." Aleja was smirking, saying those words, staring at him with that annoying look. “Come in,” he added before walking towards his workplace. She took a deep sigh. "This old man is really persistent, isn’t he?" she asked, rolling her eyes. The more this old man showed her interest, the more Ameira wanted to avoid him. With this kind of act, he is definitely up to something. When he saw her still standing outside
AMEIRA stared at the upper corner of a frameless glass door where it was written that the owner of this office is the hospital director. A young nurse wearing a blue uniform approached her and asked, “Excuse me, Miss. Do you have any appointments with the director? I mean, I’ve been watching you this whole time and you don’t even speak or tell me what brings you here. Therefore, I was wondering if you have business here. I’m afraid I might call a guard to escort you out. This place is strictly prohibited and you might scare the patients. ""Sorry to disturb you, I’m looking for the General Services Department to apply as a cleaner. I’m lost. Can you point me the way? " Ameira answered directly, looking her straight in the eyes.“You already passed it. It’s on the second floor in the left corner. You will find it there, " the young nurse pointed out.Ameira nodded, despite knowing which floor it was. She’s on the tenth floor, where she intends to meet with the director of the hospital
Episode 25: Investigation. Ameira was silently watching Dainiel, the young woman who jumped off the rooftop and was saved by an air cushion. The patient was peacefully sleeping in bed and a dextrose was injected into her right hand and, according to her beauty standards, she just had a normal face. An average beauty.“Here, eat some more, father.” Her gaze shifted to the young man and an old man who was feeding his father. Since they weren't the only ones in the room, eight of the patients were confined. This is probably because it was a public place and more crowded, unlike the private and VIP rooms. When the patient awoke later, Ameira glanced at her as she moved forward to the patient and heard her moving and soft gaps. She had her usual cold face and both hands in her pocket. "I see you're awake," Ameira said. The patient softly coughed and slowly opened her eyes as she looked at her. “You haven’t left?” she asks in a low tone. Ameira nodded. “How’s your feeling? Do you fee
Ameira didn’t stop her because she wanted her to figure out for herself if that’s what she really wanted by jumping off the tall building. Her phone rang. In an instant, she grabbed her phone from inside her pants pocket. When she saw the unfamiliar number, her forehead knitted and she slid to pick up the call. She waited for the caller to speak, but her eyes grew wide as she quickly stood up and became alerted to her surroundings. Her eyes roamed the area where she was standing in search of the person who was in the other line. "You saved someone this time. I wonder if you could still save someone again." The caller's voice was deep like this person came from hell, and so Ameira already knew this person was using a voice changer to hide his/her identity.“Who are you? What do you want from me?” she asked in a deep tone. [Don’t rush. We will be there soon. The game has just started. So, if you wanna find me. Be part of my game, Snake. Let’s play hide and seek. You are the bet and I
