LEONARD'S POV

"Freedom cannot be bestowed — it must be achieved."

Elbert Hubbard (American writer, publisher and artist)

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It is in the afternoon, almost 2 o'clock, I and Levi have just finished our photoshoot. It was for our summer splash collaboration with WAADU. I am anxiously anticipating the launch. We worked really hard for it to happen and we are hoping our fans will love it as much as we do.

It was the reopening day, though lectures will begin in the next three weeks, purposely for the freshmen to sign up to join the many, many clubs available. As heads of the fairly popular college drama club, DRAMALY, we had to at least show up.

After making finishing touches and setting up a date to review our products, for the sixteenth time, we hit the road in Levis brand new Aston martin. We both sat in silence for a while, totally exhausted. We have been working almost day and night for this project. Every rewarding thing was worth doing right, isnt that so?

Plus, I needed a tangible reason to avoid staying at home and attending those boring dinners with my family

Levi turns on the radio, my ears are instantly filled with the calming yet head banging beat of Motor spots. Cardis part instantly plays, I sing along allowing my nerves to come down. Levi turns to look at me, I prepare myself for the argument we have had so many times now.

Nicki is still better anyway, he states, matter-of-factly. He flexes his hands on the steering wheel and eagerly awaits Nicki Minajs turn.

Oh please, you cant compare Nicki to Cardi. They arent in the same league.

It is a fact.

Uh, yo, watch your man, then you should watch your mouth

Bitches is pressed, administer mouth to mouth

You see them stats, you know what I am about

I am the champ, I'm Iron Mike in a bout he raps along.

You are right, he turns down the volume. You cant compare a subject to the queen of rap music, NICKI. That is disrespectful.

Slow you rolls fella, I turn the radio back on. How is Cardi a subject when she has earned three number-one singles on the Billboard Hot 100. She is also the second female rapper to top the chart with a solo output, bodak yellow.

That is just too small to compare to a lifetime of greatness. Dont get me started on Nicki. He speaks with so much enthusiasm.

Oh please, the only thing she has ever achieved is I pretend to run a search in my head and came up with very accurate results.

Huh! I open my mouth feigning total surprise. NOTHING.

I raise my hands up to form a zero. The song long forgotten as we were too deep into our argument.

We finally make our way to Marie mount, still deep in our argument we got out, totally oblivious and unbothered by the unprecedented quietness that welcomed us.

Nicki has achieved much more than you tiny head can keep count of. He begins. She was the first female artist included on MTV's annual HOTTEST MC LIST. she has earned multiple top-five entries on billboard hot 100, plus has scored additional top-ten entries as a featured artists, accumulating the most Billboard Hot 100 entries among women of all genres, and the most top 10 singles among women on the Billboard R&B Hip-Hop Airplay chart.

Hold up, I stop in my tracks as a very familiar shrieking voice pierced through my ear drums.

why is it so freakingly quiet? Levi finally acknowledges.

We walk with long strides to the direction of the noise. I was caught off guard by the unexpected sight of Naira Mason, my Fiancée, descending with great anger on a poor girl I have never met before. I sigh inwardly, turning to study Levis reaction.

He was already walking towards them, the crowd parting like the red sea to make way for him.

Dede ? he asks uncertain.

The girl looks up and stares at Levi. Her once sullen and scared face quickly replaced by surprise and delight when realization dawned on her.

Levi! she shrieks jovially.

He helped her up and engulfed her in a long, cuddly embrace. He eyed me as a way of saying goodbye and disappeared into the dense crowd.

I pull Naira out and we walked in complete silence to the parking lot.

That girl, she has ruined my jacket, she complained when we finally got to her car - a customized black ZENVO ST1 she received from my ohh so loving father as a birthday gift.

And you might have just ruined your career, I state totally perplexed. Because of a jacket?

It was very expensive, plus I purchased it at Milan during their fashion week, she explains further.

I think I am scarred for life Leon, she speaks as if the experience was so dreadful. I cant seem to get the image of my poor jacket out my head, it is driving me insane.

Holly God, I sigh. She drives is driving me insane right now with her childish talk.

"It is a jacketttt, I try for the last time, to drive some sense into her. Since when did you start caring about wasting money, huh?

She abandons her pretense and stares at me with anger in her eyes.

We are going to get married Leon and I expect you to side with me on everything. She says angrily.

Well I am sorry I cannot agree with you when you are going all Vlad Dracula on innocent people. I lean against the car, getting comfy for the long argument ahead.

God, I just seem to be running into arguments today.

I just told you she ruined my jacket. She opens her mouth in bewilderment.

Where is the jacket? I stretch out my hands for it.

I threw it away, I swear you dont listen to me, she continues.

You never told me you threw it away. I say defensively.

I told you seeing it scares me and you expect me to keep it? she pauses, her lips shaking violently.

Look, lets get you home. You are all shades of messed up right now. I try to calm her down, but to no avail.

"NOO! she screams.

I back up instinctively. She can make you mad within seconds of talking to her. That is her superpower.

Just tell me one thing, she raise her index finger up. was she the one you were cheating with?

I give up immediately and turn on my heels, I begin my long journey home on foot.

Dont just leave me here, I need an answer, she chases after me.

I am not answering that question again. I state.

If you dont tell me then. Then, she pauses. say goodbye to this marriage.

I turn around and wave happily. Goodbye.

Ohh, she has no idea how happy she has made me, plus she has made my plan less lengthy. In fact she just ended it.

You cant say goodbye, you need me! she stops, totally surprised.

I dont need you sweetie, my dad needs you. I explain simply.

Well then fine, it is your loss. She sticks out her tongue.

So long medusa, I wave, again and she walks back to her car.

I am free, I dance happily in my head.

Free at last.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hiiii loves, where are my Cardi and Nicki fans at? I just wanted to add some spice to the story by bringing in that convo and hopefully spark some funny reactions as well. I love both artist, I think they are both unique and special in their own way.

I hope you enjoyed this chapter too.

Don't forget to vote, comment and share with you friends.

Your author,

WAADU.

He was very persistent as he repeated words like 'I told you so,' 'you never listen'.I found my overbearing father in his office with a nasty smirk on his face.He sat in his huge office chair with his arms spiraled on the armrest, his protruding belly looking like a warehouse filled with undigested food never failing to make the ' i'm freaking opulent ' effect.
