Nala.

Two days later, i sat nervously in a wheelchair, her fingers clutched tightly around the blanket the nurse had draped over my lap. Jordan stood to the side, listening intently as the nurse gave him the aftercare instructions for me. I had been in the hospital close to a month, I was still very much delicate from what I could cover and still need twenty four hour care.

I fingered the maternity top that I was wearing in, this were the clothes I had come in the hospital with. I had come to give birth to a baby, but now I was leaving one with no baby. The nurses had all been so kind to me during my stay here, I was afraid of going home with Jordan, to me he was part of the unknown to me. I was safe in the hospital, or atleast that's what I felt.

When the nurse was finished, Jordan grasped the handles of the wheelchair and began pushing me down the hallway towards the entrance.

I blinked as the bright sunshine speared my vision. A sleek limousine was parked a few feet away, and

Jordan. I slumped in my chair and ran a hand through my hair confused and exhausted from everything. I fingered the list of phone messages as my gaze lighted on the one from my sister Isabella. There was a message from my father too. I shifted uncomfortably and knew i wouldn’t be able to put them off for too long. They would have gotten my messages by now and be curious. How i was going to explain this mess to them and also explain why i was taking care of the woman that I was responsible for her loosing her memory or even how I stole her baby from her and made her believe her child had died. “Jordan , finally,” Isabella said dryly. “I wondered if I was going to have to fly over to beat answers from you, what's going on with Nala is she okay.” She asked immediately. I sighed and grunted in response. "She is fine, she just got released from the hospital, I have just put her to sleep." i said casually, like it was something normal. "What?" she asked shocked, "What game are yo

Nala. The next morning, i sat across from Jordan as he watched me eat my breakfast. He nodded approvingly when I managed to finish the omelet he had personally prepared, and he urged me to drink the glass of juice in front of me. Despite my anxiety and uncertainty, it felt good to be taken care of by this strange sexy man. Even if i wasn’t entirely sure of my place in his world. He was solicitous of me, but at the same time he seemed distant. I wasn’t sure if it was out of deference to my memory loss, and he had no wish to frighten me, or if this was simply the normal course of our relationship. I caught my bottom lip between my teeth and nibbled absently. The idea that this could be ordinary bothered me. Even though I did not have memories yet, I knew I was the kind of woman that craved for pure love, a relationship where we were best friends, but this did not seem like the relationship we had Clearly we had been thinking of a future together of I even got pregnant for him. He sa

Nala. A smile curved my lips at his insistence. “How long will you be gone?” I hated the hopeful, almost mournful quality to my voice. I sounded pathetic. I regretted asking that the moment it came out. He stood as the sound of the elevator opening filtered into the living room. “Stay here. I will return with the nurse.” I relaxed against the back of the couch and waited for Jordan to return. His attentiveness was endearing, even if unnecessary. A moment later, he walked back in with a smiling woman dressed in slacks and a sweater. She smiled at me as she stopped a few feet away from the sofa, where I was sitted. “You must be Nala . I’m so pleased to meet you. I’m Ms. Dorota, but please do call me Dorota.” I couldn’t help but return the older woman’s soft smile. “Mr. Jordan has discussed his wishes with me, and I will do my utmost best to make sure you are well taken care of.” I pinned Jordan with a stare. “Oh, he did, did he? May I ask what his instructions were?” Jordan

Selena I watched from my window as Jordan rushed out of the house. He seemed pissed off and in a hurry. Maybe he had already found out about the amount of money the company was loosing. But I could not him leave just yet, Salvatore and his men were still at his offices and they still had no access to the information that we needed. But I also knew I would not be a good distraction, no matter how much I had tried over the past few weeks with him. Jordan had kept it at casual greetings and mostly about Kyle. Kyle. I thought to myself, ofcourse there was no way he would say no to him. I quickly walked out of my room to Kyle's room. He was down for a nap, but I had to wake him up. "Hey baby." i said rubbing him on his back as he made noises. "I need you to wake up." "Can I sleep for just thirty more minutes? Please mom." "Am sorry baby, but I need you to do something for me okay." Kyle sat up, his little face all wrinkled with sleep. I loved him to death and I hated the fac

Jordan. It had been like two hours since Selena left. My phone was blowing up, my father, my mother, even my sister was calling me. I considered taking Kyle back to the house and leaving him with Alba, but Nala would see him and being fresh from the hospital I had to try and be sensitive to her feelings. So I put my phone on airplane mode and decided I would deal with the consequences later on. I needed to be present with my son at the moment. Kyle had a lot of interests and a really short attention span, but that was just any three year Olds. We played all kinds of games until he was exhausted. Selena had told me he takes a one hr nap at three so I put him in his bed. I was about to walk out when I heard him speak up. He had been asleep or atleast that was what I had thought, but he had fooled me. "Please don't go, stay with me." he said in his sweet three year old voice. "Ofcourse baby, am not going anywhere." i said as I pulled up a chair and sat next to his bed. A few

Nala. It was a few minutes to midnight and he still was not back. Jordan had told me right before he left that he would be back for dinner. He always made sure we ate dinner together, which is why this was weird, he had not called and his phone was off. I picked up my phone again to see if he had tried to call, but there was nothing at all. No message, no text nothing. I got up and walked over to the window, I watched the servants quarter where I knew Selena was staying with her son. Her lights were still on, I wondered what she was doing? But it never occured to me that Jordan might be there. He had told me about her as soon as I came home from the hospital. They had been married for over five years and, they were separated when she was in an accident and died. She had just shown up a few weeks ago, claiming she lost all memory during the accident. I kind of doubted her story, but given my circumstances how could I when I had issues of my own to worry about. I watched the

Nala. I woke up to loud noises clearly coming from downstairs..I could hear Jordan's voice, it took me a while longer to figure out who he was talking to. I slowly opened the door of my bedroom slowly trying not to make any noise or draw attention to me and I could see them in the living room. It was her, his ex wife Selena. "What do you want from me Selena? What? " Jordan was now standing inches away from her, his hands in his pockets, he looked tired and drunk also. "i want you to be the guy that gives a fuck dammit" Selena shouted back, now clearly tears streaming down her face like a downfall "Do you still have feelings for me?" she asked facing him now. "Are you still in love with me? I want you to answer that truthfully Jordan." "You know, I.." Jordan started, but he was stuttering and I also wanted to really hear his answer. "Dont hedge Jordan" she fired back, clearly mad that he would even stutter. " I'm not just thinking of how to answer you Selena, I have to cons

Nala. I wore a sundress. Jordan cupped my face in his hands and brushed his mouth across mine with heartrending tenderness. His gaze remained haunted. "Lunch?" I asked, feeling the need to cling to the connection between us from last night. "I have a business lunch." he ran his fingers through my loose hair. "Would you come with me? Our driver can drop you off after" "I would love to come along." his gaze softened. I was surprised he actually wanted me to join him given how against me doing anything or going anywhere he had been Dressed in formal clothes he looked sombre yet collected. I knew he was anything but, according to the conversation I overheard last night, today was supposed to be the anniversary of the death of his child, yet he was acting like it was just a normal day. Which is why I was glad he asked me to join him. On the drive to the business lunch he cuddled me in his lap. I didn't speak more than a dozen words during the meal, which Jordan ordered for me. I s

Nala.I woke up slowly taking in my surroundings. All the walls were white with no painting at all. It was just plain walls. And then then there wS the smell of medicine that made me nauseous."What's going on?" I asked no one in particular sitting up. That's when I saw him sleeping peacefully by my bed. He looked so peaceful, but also so uncomfortable sleeping in that chair. "Hey, hello beautiful." he said as soon as he saw me, "How did you sleep? How are you feeling?" he asked coming to my bed as he helped me sit up properly, putting a few pillows for me to lean on. "I am sorry, I didn't mean to wake you up." i said slowly feeling the pain of my incision. "No it's okay baby. Am glad you are up." i said looking around. "The baby?" I said almost absent mindedly. I do not remember at all having the baby, I just felt pain in every part of my body. "She is Fine." Jordan said proudly, "and yes it's a she. They just fed her she is sleeping. You will see he when she is up.""I am sorry

Jordan. One moment, we were dancing, I was holding her, monitoring her breaths, smelling her rose vanilla hair, the next she was lying on the floor in a pool of blood. This was not happening to me. It could not be happening. I felt as if I was losing my mind. I could not believe what I was seeing. It could not be. It just could not be. I dropped to my knees next to her. My hands were shaking. Jesus, God, no. Not her. Not her. Not my miracle. She was looking up at me, with a strange expression on her face, as if she was surprised to see me, as if it was me that was hurt, as blood was oozing out of her wound and spreading into her stomach area of her lavender dress. The assassin had been aiming for me, but he had hit her instead. This was all my fault and I knew it was Salvatore. I had taken his son away from him, he wanted his revenge. One more shot rang out and I heard the shrill announcement.“It’s clear! We have him!”“Hey you,” she said softly. Then she frowned, her hands were

Nala. A shiver crackled through my spine at his words. Because I knew that look in his eyes, the almost ferocious gaze and I knew what usually followed after that. The last time he had had that look in his eyes and told me to get over to where he was, I had been fucked against a doorand left in a puddle at his feet.“Um,” I swallowed. “I need to go to the Ladies first?”“You are going to be sorry if I have to repeat myself.”“Please. Someone could come in.” All I could think about was his mother or sister or even father walking in on us. “No one will come in until I allow them to.”Through the glass, I could see the other people around us, and people passing in between. I was pretty certain that theycouldn’t see into our own encasement, but they would definitely be able to hear us especially since there was no way that I would be able to stay quiet after he touched me.“But people can hear us,” I whispered. His gaze darkened even further, and I had to accept the painful truth, tha

Nala. The round lights in the ceiling as they rolled me into the OR barely registered. The only thing in my mind was the brutality of my contractions. Waves of paincoursed through my body and my fingers dug into my palms to help relieve some of the pressure.I had never in my life been in so much pain. But then I remembered his promise. Everything will be fine. I believed him, and that more than anything gave me thestrength to hope for a time beyond this pain that seemed as though it would never end.The Anesthesiologist put a mask over my face. “Count backwards from ten, ” she said kindly.10, 9, 8, 7… 6… then everything went dark.I woke up slowly. My whole body felt heavy. Even moving my fingers was an effort. I knew I was in a hospital. I felt fear.My lips moved.“My baby,” I called weakly. “Where is my baby?”It was only then I realized I was not alone. There was an arm and a head on my thighs. The arm lifted and he straightened.I stared at him in shock. He looked haggard. Mo

Jordan. we were riding back to Torrington Hall. Our bodies at least two feet apart. I stared out at trees, all cast in darkness, as we left the city.Who was I angry at? Was it at myself? For reacting like a jealous fool. Or was it at her for pointing it out? I couldn’t decide, but either way it didn’t feel good.I knew she was scared for her friend’s safety, but I had no intentions of doing anything to him. At that moment when Isaw him touch her so casually I wanted to throttle him, but now that my blood was no longer boiling, I could clearly see he was only a little gnat. Even the tiny effort required to squash him would not be worth my time.“ I… uh… I wanted to speak to you tonight about the greenhouse, ” she said hesitantly. Her tone was soft and docile.I turned my head to look at her. In the soft light coming fromthe console, her skin looked like alabaster.“Thank you for allowing me to work there,” she continued.“I need to buy some seeds. I will purchase them on my own of

Jordan.I took her to Boston’s harbor hotel with its Sixty foot stone archway and its panoramic views of the city’s skyline. It was also a personal favorite for other reasons. Security was easily monitored by my men, and my requests for privacy were always immediately fulfilled. As I mostly moved in the shadows and appreciated places that helped me maintain things that way.Across the terrace, private and heated transparent igloo-like boxes had been erected to both tackle the frigid winter air,and to provide privacy. One of the things I liked the most about these encasements were how the glass made it possible for you to see out, but for no one to see within.I sat at my usual enclosure with my customary glass of Dirty Martini and tried to imagine Nala working in the greenhouse… and couldn’t. I’d never even been inside it. I had to admit I’d never given the idea of gardening muchthought, but I had formed the general impression gardeners were gardeners because they couldn’t find bett

Nala. It was still dark the next morning when I got out of bed and went to the kitchen. There was no one else around, but Jordan's mom was already up andsitting at the table drinking something from a cup and. looking into an open notebook. She looked up at me and frowned.“Is something wrong?” she asked worried I shook my head. “Nothing is wrong. I was wondering if I could have some cake or cookies.” I said feeling embarrassed "Ofcourse yes. I can't tell you how much cravings I had with Jordan. I gained over one hundred pounds." she said smiling as she served me a plate of chocolate chip cookies with warm milk. I looked at her confused, wondering what she was talking about or why she was even telling me about that. She saw the confusion and smiled again. " oooh, Jordan told us about your news.""What news?" I asked even more confused as ever. "That you are pregnant." she said looking at me with that judgemental look of hers. "My son always wanted to be a father you know and g

I needed her to know I was doing everything in my power to get her son back. I glanced at the poised woman by his side as i wound my way through the curvy hills toward my home. The top was down, and her gold red hair blew in the wind in a tangled mass, but she didn’t seem concerned. Her pursed lips told me she was thinking hard, probably getting into character to meet my family. It was not the first time, but it was since she recovered her memories. During the last twenty four hours, I had learned a lot about Nala. Unfortunately, the tiny glimpse only made me crave her more. The vivid green of trees and brown earth flashed by and welcomed me in a way that soothed my soul.
