"Tara's in the kitchen." Jordan said. Referring to the Alpha of Sliver pack. Onyx entered the cabin, making his was through series of turns before entering the kitchen. There were more wolves in siting on the table – the head enforcer, the beta pair and Alpha and his mate. They didn't look happy to see him, not the enforcers or Beta pair and especially not the Alpha, Tara. Onyx knew then why he had been feeling impending anxiety since morning; they all knew the truth, about Tasha being his mate.
He knew this would happen anyway, and not one to play games of words or pretence, he said, facing them. "You knew."
"Yes I know." Tara said, her voice sharp. Her mate, Ethan put a hand on her shoulder, clearly to prevent her from flying at Onyx, she was knew for her hot temper and anymore stupid enough to be fooled by her small status paid for it, she's very powerful and scary if she wanted to be, most people in the shifter community stay clear of her.
"Is this where you'll tell me to stay away from Tasha?" He asked. But he knew they wouldn't have success in that front. He had tried many times to stay away from her himself, it didn't work.
"It's the least you can do." Bree, the beta female said through clenched teeth. She's a close friend of Tasha. Who did Tasha not make friends with? She's always making friends and inspiring loyalty and protectiveness from people. The enforcer beside her shifted and Onyx noticed that it was Royd siting there. The male enforcer was been a very close friend of Tasha too and Onyx had once before have a suspicious of a relationship– he hated the dick Royd for this.
Normally his wolf would have move my the sight of all this people who get to spend time with Tasha but not now, now his wolf was restless, trying to tell him something and angry that Onyx had not figured it out. Onyx looked around and instinctively sniff the room, what his wolf was trying to tell him smacked him mentally– he couldn't smell her, no , he could but Tasha's scent was faint, very faint. "Where is she?" Onyx asked.
"That is not important at the moment." Ethan, the Alpha said. His blue eyes pricing Onyx. "What is important is that you should listen carefully to what I have to say now; we've just discovered that you and Tasha were mate and you both knew this for a long time and you Onyx had made up your mind not to claim her as your mate. Well, since you had no intention of claiming her, you are to leave her alone or it will be all out war with our packs."
The threat of war should probably be the first thing Onyx should think about. But war was very far away from his mind as his thought zeros on the fact the Tasha's scent was very faint, faint enough to suggest that she'd not been in the pack for a while.
"Where's she?" He asked again and stopped a growl as he watched two enforcers exchange looks. Probably think that he's not listening, despite the threat of war.
"Where she is, is not of your business." Tala snapped. The beta male nod his agreement.
"Tasha is and will always be my business." Onyx's voice had grown cold and firm.
Tala jumped to her feet, eyes flashing. Ethan's hand holding her was the only thing stoping her from jumping at Onyx. "You mother fucking bastard!"
"Shhhh, it's okay babe." Ethan spoke softly to Tala, but Tala shook her head angrily, angry tears pulling in her eyes. It was then that Onyx felt his spine tingle. For Tala to behave like this, where was Tasha? "It's because of this bastard dick that my best friend is gone!" She said angrily.
Onyx felt the begining of a growl in his throat. "Gone where?" He demanded. His wolf moved inside him with intense agitation, needing to hunt down their mate.
"She's gone somewhere you can't stalk her anymore, somewhere safe." Bree said.
Onyx moved forward, making the sliver pack tense, ready to attack of necessary. Onyx don't give an actual fuck. "You think I want to harm her? You think am not all wound up from not having her? You think I have inner peace? Thinking about her all the time."
The wolves clam down a little, giving him pitying look but Onyx didn't want their pity, all he wanted was his mate. He gave Ethan an intense look. "Tell me where she is." Onyx command, giving Ethan an Alpha look, all the sliver wolf went still, but they didn't rush to defend their Alpha. It won't look good, it'll look like their Alpha can't stand his own. Ethan could stand his ground, he returned his look, eyes for eyes, everything in him communicating dominance.
"I don't want a challenge Onyx. We've been allies and we've fight along side each other many times. I know what you're feeling Onyx, I've gone through it before when my mate was kidnapped. But I won't stand to be challenging in my own pack." Ethan said.
"If it was your mate Ethan and I know where she is and am not telling you? What will you do."
Ethan gave Onyx a cool look. "I won't have stayed away from her in the first place Onyx."
The male Beta, Ace spoke then. "If we thought for sure you wanted to know where she's for claiming her or for the right reason, we would tell you but no, you have no intention of claiming her, you just want to disrupt her life and that not good."
Bree looked at her mate, Ace foundly. "I know what it means Onyx, to let fear eat at you, fear to claiming your mate." And she did, she had once been a very traumatized wolf, damaged, on the edge of becoming a mindless beast; a rouge, that would have been killed then and fear of death and what would happen to her make kept her from bonding with him but bonding with him helped her on the long run. "You fear of putting her in danger but you should not have let that stopped you from claiming her." The danger she was referring to was the one of Tasha being challenged by dominant female not the one relating to his health. Bree was probably the only one who would understand. "You should have complete trust in her and let her choose it's her choice too you know, you might be surprised how much strength lies in her."
Onyx was too reserved to share and he didn't give the fuck about telling his story to anyone. He shook his head, impatient. "The dominant female don't even need to challenge her, they would just use their dominance power to make her submissive."
Tara spoke then, giving him an odd look. "All you need to know is that she's safe and if anything happens, I'll call you. I can promise you that."
As much as he was greatful for that, it wasn't going to be enough, he'd been fooling himself that being around Tasha from time to time is going to be enough, he should have known better. Now, faced with the stark reality of her being gone, he realized how much he had clung deep down to a little hope. Hope that one day, he might find a way around his problems.
Onyx forced himself to remain calm, but how could he remain relaxed? It fucking hurt, it hurt that she left just like that, how could she leave like that? When he didn't have the strength stay away from her. And he's angry too, angry at her for leaving him to start a new life without him and mostly especially angry at himself for pushing her to this. His wolf's fear mixed with his own, what if she wasn't as safe as the sliver pack thought she was? And what if she's happy in her new life? That thought brought Onyx pain because he knew that he'll do whatever it takes to make her happy.
He made up his mind, determined to find her.
few years later. Opening your eyes to find that you’re upside down can’t be good, can it? Through the cobwebs clouding her mind, Kass realized that it wasn’t just she who was upside down. The car had toppled over.Well, that sucked. Clearly the fuck-up fairy had made an appearance.Strangely, Kass felt no rush of panic, no fear. And despite that she was pretty sure her head was bleeding, there was no pain. There was only a feeling of weightlessness. Even the fact that her wolf was frantic didn’t disturb Roni in this dreamlike moment. Her brain distantly registered that the car kept leaning sideways, as if something was repeatedly pulling at it. But it was the various sounds that penetrated her mental fog: low moans, a phone ringing, a child crying, and strange voices arguing.Sensing that the ringtone and the moans were coming from her left, kass turned her head to find a male wolf shifter in the driver’s seat, e
When she finally untangled herself from him, he explained, “It’s not just the only lodge here now. The owners built and rented out several other lodges on the land, which would be perfect for the ‘pack’ to live in. It means you and I will have our own space.” Touched to the point that she was tearful, she said, “I really, really can’t believe you’ve done this. I never would have guessed. I suppose I should have—you always try to spoil me.” “It’s my right, and it’ll happen a lot, so you need to get better at accepting gifts.” She waved away that comment. “You know what else I can’t believe? That the prejudiced humans sold the place to a shifter.” When he opened his mouth to speak, she raised a hand. “Don’t tell me…Your contacts got involved, right?” “Right,” he confirmed. “Want to go inside?” “Do Dalmatians have black spots?” “One thing first: I made a few…changes.”
As Bree yapped beside him at the dining table about something or other, Onyx forced a smile for her. Oh, she was a nice enough girl and stuff, but he just didn’t do the friend thing, and apparently a person didn’t have a choice in the matter when it was Bree He noticed that his mate, who was sitting on his other side, was stifling a smile of amusement at his discomfort—as usual. Just a little longer, he reminded himself. Just a little longer, and then he and Tasha would be finished with their evening meal and leaving Sliver Pack territory, and they would only be returning as visitors. Since the night of the battle, he and Tasha had been living on pack territory temporarily. Although they had slept in the motor home outside the caves, they were still constantly harassed and, as such, had had very little time alone. Onyx and Tasha weren’t the only ones who had remained on pack territory. Trevon,
Abruptly, she snatched the knife her father had long ago given her that was tucked into her boot and speared it into his chest. When a stunned-looking Chubby came charging at her, she rolled to the side and sliced both his Achilles tendons as he stumbled past. Like a sack of spuds, he fell to the ground, crying out. Rolling once again, she seized the rifle and twisted to see that Chubby was trying to crawl away. He froze when she cocked it and gave her a pitiful look. She shrugged. “I told you I’d kill you.” The bullet hit him dead-center in his forehead. It was then that Merk swung the door open. But she had already cocked the gun again, ready to shoot, and was aiming it as his head. “You should have run, Monkey Boy.” But the awkward bastard dove to the side, making the bullet skim his ear. “Fuck.” Then a wall of flames suddenly formed around the hut, and Merk slammed the door closed. “Double fuck.” Before she could even think of acting, a
There was gunfire, there was growling, there was screaming, there was yelling as the wolves came at the group from all directions. It was also the go-ahead for Tasha to act. Aiming for those who she judged the biggest threats and of whom she had a clear view, Tasha fired one bullet after another, gratified down to her gut as she disabled the bastards. One of those bullets hit her target’s arm rather than his heart, and he dropped his gun as he flinched with the pain. When Onyx wolf turned his attention to him, the human turned and ran in what could only be described as a blind panic. He suddenly screeched in pain and fell to the ground, having stepped on one of the barbed-spike plates that were planted around. Onyx dived on him, closing his jaw around the asshole’s throat. The wolves were all merciless in their assault. Ethan wolf had gone feral by this point and was tearing into whatever human was near him. Although he’d taken a bull
Entering the living area a little while later, they found Jaime, Ace, Kass, Marcus,Royd Grace, Lydia, and Sansa. The smell of Onyx and Tasha’s combined scents seemed to hit everyone at once, because they were all smiling—even Sansa, despite that it was fake. “Well, well, well,” said Bree, delighted, as Onyx and Tasha perched themselves on the gigantic sofa where everyone other than Kass and Royd, who had each claimed an armchair, was sitting. “It would appear things are moving along nicely.” Bree swapped places with Ace so that she was then sitting by Onyx, winking at Tasha when he stiffened at her proximity. “How’s my BFF doing?” When Onyx gawked at her, Bree said indulgently, “Not you, sweetie, I was talking to your mate.” Tasha would have been pissed by people continually poking at him if she didn’t know this meant they accepted him. “Fine, thanks.” Tasha patted Onyx’s thigh soothingly. “I’m glad things are working out for you gu
