AUTHOR’S POV

The air was tense. No one was happy and the pack members had the expression on their faces like they would rather be anywhere else that watch Soren be mated to Ivannah.

The moon loomed high above them, casting its silver glow on the pack members as they murmured and voiced their displeasures.

Soren stood motionless, dressed in the white ceremonial robe of a groom. His face was passive as the ritual unfolded. Ivannah stood beside him and if he didn’t care about the ceremony or her, maybe he would have thought she looked beautiful.

Ivannah was also dressed in white, her hair had been adorned with gold ornaments and her lips were curved in a triumphant smile. This was her victory and it was his defeat.

“That should have been Amira’s place” Soren muttered bitterly. It was very hard for him to find a balance between the anger and hatred he felt for Amira and also the love that burnt fiercely for her at his core.

Elder Malachi began the ritual chants. His ancient voice weaving

AUTHOR’S POV The scent of blood and fire filled the air and the air was thick and suffocating with smoke. The moon and the fire cast light around the chaos. Cries, pleas, murmurs filled the air which was also tensed with anticipation. Soren stood motionless, eyes devoid of sympathy or any emotion at all. His extended claws dripped of blood while his chest fell and rise as he watched the scene before him. “Alpha” one of the soldiers who had come with Soren to the pack called and he turned to the boy with cold eyes that made the young warrior halt. “What is it?” Soren asked, voice deep and gruff. “They’ve surrendered. What do we do next?” He asked and Soren turned back to the pack. “Kill the leaders of the pack” he commanded. The solder, Garrick paled “what?” He whispered in shock. “But…” Soren whirled around to face him, eyes glowing ember red “Did I stutter Garrick or would you like to take their place?” Garrick swallowed hard, beads of sweat dripping from hi

AUTHOR’S POV Curtis Black, the rogue king sat on his the throne with sick glee on his face. His fingers drummed idly on the armrest of the overly opulent throne. His soldiers, the dark ones who were wolves that had gone feral or mad after losing their mates stood before him. One of Curtis’ ability as a red flame elemental was to be able to turn wolves who had lost their mind into obedient slaves which he called the dark ones. They were forever loyal to him and would die for him. He used them to become the rogue king. His golden eyes gleamed with amusement as he listened to one of his dark soldiers recount the event he had experienced with Soren in a recent pack massacre. “So,” Curtis mused, leaning forward with a smirk “It seems my dear cousin has made a name for himself” “Yes, Alpha Curtis” the dark wolf, a man with hollowed cheeks replied. The fear of what he had seen earlier still on his face “The blood Alpha is truly a beast without mercy. One disrespect and he has wolves wi

AMIRAThe seasons seemed to pass quickly on this side of the world. Before I knew it, six years had passed. I took in a deep breath, inhaling the cool summer evening scent. The scent of freshly baked bread drifted from the open kitchen window.“Don’t run around, please. You are going to hurt yourself” I warned fondly as familiar giggles reached my ear as my boys tumbled through the grass, their matching dark curls bouncing with their movement.“Mummy, tell Elias to stop chasing me first” Ezra giggled as he ran faster to avoid his brother.I sighed in exasperation, knowing they were never going to listen to me until they got the fun out of their system.Elias and Ezra are my twin sons, my world. I didn’t expect to give birth to twins. I thought I was expecting one, but the moon goddess gave me two. So far, I have been living in worry. I didn’t know if they inherited any of my and Soren’s abilities, but I hoped they didn’t.Elias and Ezra had inherited both Soren and my traits. Elias wa

SORENI looked at the documents scattered on my office table. There was nothing to do other than to get buried in work. I was aware of all the chatters that followed me but I paid them no mind. They didn’t gf C understand. “We should be out there, making people tremble at our name and not buried in useless file work” Ignis grumbled in my head and I rolled my eyes.“Either you get the fuck off my business or I’ll shut you out for another week” I threatened. It had become so much easier to control Ignis. It was difficult at first, the struggle had been painful but I managed to dominate him. Ignis was a terror. He wanted to cause havoc all day and that was not something I wanted to do. It was a headache trying to balance our struggles. Ignis was quiet after that and retreated to the back of my mind. He knew I wasn’t joking because I had done it a million times before. The one thing Ignis hated more than anything was to be shut out so he usually kept his raging thoughts to himself

AMIRAI placed a kiss on the twin’s forehead before I tucked the blankets around them. They had fallen asleep not long after I opened their favourite storybook. On some nights like this one, it was hard to get them to sleep in their individual bed so I just let them sleep on the same bed.“Today was a hectic one, huh?” Jamie spoke from their door as he leaned against it. I knew he was trying but I could see the worry on his face. It reminded me of Isla and Mira’s behaviours the entire day. They had been acting off like something was wrong and anytime I tried to get them to talk, it was futile because they would laugh it off and tell me I was imagining things but my gut knew something was wrong and they were keeping it from me. “Are you ready to talk?” I asked after I brushed my kids hair and turned to him with a raised brow. “Talk?” Jamie asked, pretending not to know what I was talking about. “Don’t play that game with me, Jamie. Isn’t that why you are here? To finally tell me

AMIRAI couldn’t sleep a wink last night. I lay awake the entire night worrying about the dark ones and what their new threats meant to our safety. I was scared for my boys. I didn’t want them to ever experience facing those monsters until they knew who they were. I was scared. If it had been just me, I may have been fine because I would be able to fight without any distractions or care if I was going to die in a fight. But the situation was different now. I couldn’t fight recklessly because I had to survive for my boys, for Jamie and his sisters. When the alarm clock finally rang beside my bed, I had not slept at all. I didn’t know if we would still open the bakery today since we planned to leave at night but I got up anyway to prepare in case they wanted to open one last time.I wondered if we were ever going to come back here. This was home for me now and there was an ache in my chest that I was leaving again.“Everything will be fine, Ami” Astrais whispered, my worry was makin

AMIRAI lost count of how long I had been fighting, but I knew it was long enough as exhaustion started to creep in. The Dark Ones seemed to have an endless number as they kept pouring into the town.“Just how many are they?” I growled just as I used my claw to tear through one that came for me.“Should we use our powers?” Astrais asked. “If you let me, we may be able to defeat them or most of them”“No, Astrais. We can’t. They are too much. If anyone sees us and takes that information to the rogue king, he will hunt us down and we can’t draw risk to the children” I reminded her.“Then we need to run. We can’t keep fighting because they keep coming”Astrais was right. We couldn’t fight them all off on our own. If it was before, when I had help back at the pack, we could have but now I had to think of just our kids.“But how do we run when they keep attacking us?” I grunted just as I dodged and attacked and swiped at the dark wolf I was fighting.I fought through the dark ones, killing

AMIRAMy heart was pounding in my chest as I ran. The dark one chasing us was persistent as he caught up with my speed. Exhaustion had caught up with me but the fear of what would happen if I dared to stop kept me pushing.“Just a little more, Astrais.” I urged even though I needed the encouragement as well.I knew Astrais was a powerful wolf and she could do more than what we displayed today but I had not shifted into my wolf for over six years and it has affected her as well.It almost felt like we were practising how to use our wolf form like a beginner. It didn’t help that I only shifted the night that I arrived in the town and had never shifted again so this was the second time in my entire life that I was shifting and the first time I would be fighting in this form.“I’m sorry, Amira. I should be able to do better” She howled in regret as we ran.“You have nothing to apologize for, Iris. If it wasn’t for you, our kids and I would not have survived this at all” I told her while m

AMIRAI took a step back, eyeing the man like he had gone mad because there was no way he would have uttered such a word if he was sane.“What did you just say? What experiment?” My voice shook with belief. What kind of psycho had Inara made us come to?“You are the child from the lab. The one we thought died in the fire” He repeats with a definite voice, his eyes hard and determined on the stupid words he was spurting.Fire? Died? Now, I was certain this man must be on something because I had never been associated with any fire incidents since I had been born.I shook my head in denial “You must be mistaking me for someone else. I have never been in a lab and I certainly don’t remember anything about a fire” I chuckled nervously and glanced at Koa who was looking at the man as though he had grown two heads. The man glanced at Koa who was already outside the house “You. Wait here”And with that, he slammed the door close, grabbed my hand and pulled me deeper into the house.“What are

AMIRA“There should be a car around here we can use. Let’s fine a garage” Koa suggested after we walked out of the communication room.“Wait” I called out when I sighted something on the wall “Isn’t that a map of the place?” I walked towards the image on the wall and just as I had suspected, it was a detailed map of the whole place.“That should be the garage. It’s in the basement right under where we are standing” Koa pointed at a spot on the drawing.I pointed at the end of the hallway “There is a stairway there. It should lead us there”We found the garage easily and picked the first car key we found on the rack “It’s this one” I told Koa as I pressed the button to unlock the car.“Perfect” he muttered “let’s hope we can find the address quickly”I slide into the passengers seat and Koa took the driver’s seat. My nerves were through the roof but I wanted to keep hope.“Ezra will be fine” Astrais assured. Her words brought hope to me but it didn’t dispel my worries totally.“He has

AMIRAWe stepped out of the portal that led us back to the human training facility. We had not been here since the test Alistair had forced us to take, and I had not been in the pack long enough to know whether Soren had taken control of managing the lab.Something was off. I felt it immediately when I stepped out of the portal. The familiar but nauseating smell of blood and death hit me and I felt the need to puke at the spot.“Something is wrong,” I told Koa as we stood in front of the lab. It shouldn’t be this quiet. At least, from what I had observed the first and only time I had been here.“You smell it too? Smells like dead bodies.” He scrunched his nose up. The smell was overwhelmingly strong, and I had to resist the urge to turn back and disappear into the portal before it closed to escape the stench.“Let’s hurry. I don’t like this feeling,” I told Koa before I pushed the large doors open.I stilled as soon as I opened the door. We didn’t need to go far to see why the stench

SORENI watched the portal close after they stepped into it, and I had to fight the strong urge to run after them. I felt uneasy in my chest, and it felt as though Amira was leaving again.“The children are here. She will be back,” Ignis spoke with an understanding tone that I hated. It felt like rubbing salt on an open wound.I hated that I was not the one in that portal with her. Everything was out of my control, and I hated not being in control.“Our priority is here with our sons,” Ignis reminded me, and I slowly turned to Noah and Elias, who was still watching me with wary green eyes that irritated me.I didn’t want my son to look at me like I was a stranger. I hated that. He shouldn’t be afraid of me. It was all because of Amira. If she hadn’t taken them and hidden them from me, then he wouldn’t have been so afraid of me.“Don’t be such a fool, Soren. She said she had her reasons. Don’t act more immature than a child,” Ignis snapped, his snide and mockery snapping those thoughts

AMIRASoren hated me.That fact was indisputable. I could see it in his eyes, the way he looked at me like he was close to tearing me to shreds. It was too much for me to bear. My heart was aching, knowing that I had hurt him so much that he started to hate me, but I also wasn’t willing to bridge the gap when I knew that as soon as I got what I needed, I might have to leave again.“Amira, what if we don’t have to leave? We can explain this to Soren and your father. Soren is now the alpha of the pack, so what Alistair says doesn’t matter anymore,” Astrais spoke up as I stood and watched Soren hold Elias to his chest. There were so many emotions in his eyes.“No, I can’t. Ivannah is his wife now. Valeria would be more dangerous now. She would do anything to keep Ivannah as Luna, and my children would be her target. I would never allow her to use my children against me.”“Soren would be able to protect them. It’s different now. You won’t be alone,” Astrais argued, but I pushed her back b

SORENI stumbled back in shock and Amira began to cough after I released her. The weight of her words settled in my chest like a rock and I found it hard to breathe. Our son. He is dying.I wanted to call her out on her lie. She wasn’t pregnant when she left. She could have told me. We only had sex once. Was it possible to get pregnant just like that?I wanted to accuse her of trying to manipulate me but there was something in her eyes. It was raw, frantic and desperate.Noah stepped into the room and the look in his eyes also stole my words of accusation out of me. She didn’t just leave. She lied as well.“What child?” I still asked “You never said anything about being pregnant” Despite my thoughts, the words still managed to come out. Before she could answer, a small figure ran into the room, planting himself in front of Amira.A small boy, barely six years old.He was so tiny with his hands spread out in front of him and his body trembling with rage that would have made me chuckle

SOREN“Maybe we should check it out by ourselves?” Ignis suggested.I had not been able to rest ever since I felt the bond surged to life. I know Koa and Rune thought otherwise but I knew it in my bones that she was close. It almost felt like she was in the pack, like she was back.“Check where? I know she isn’t back. Someone would have said something. We would have seen her when she crossed the borders”“But our feelings can never be wrong. Something tells me that there is no way we would feel the bond if she was in a pack close by. She has to be in the pack or along the borders. She is here” Ignis insisted.I wanted to hang onto his words and believe him, but I wasn’t up for another disappointment when they confirmed that what I was feeling was all in my head.I was pacing my office as my mind worked a million mile per minute. I could not get any work done and it was a nuisance.“I wonder why she didn’t just reject us properly. Now, I can’t get her out of my fucking head” I growled

AMIRA“Are you sure he is going to come without alerting Soren?” Dad asked with the same worry that plagued me.I paused my pacing to stare at him “I trust Koa. He promised not to tell anyone”Dad pointed at the clock “He promised to be here by 1 am, and it’s almost 2:30 am, but he isn’t here yet”I glanced at the time, and it caused me to bite my fingers in worry. I went in search of Koa earlier today because I was at my wit’s end.Dad had tried everything he could, but nothing worked. The venom was still eating Ezra, and the only thing Dad could do was slow down the venom, but we had to get it out if my baby would survive.Every second that passed felt like an eternity. My fingers curled into fists as I waited while glancing at the bedroom where my babies were. Elias had refused to leave his brother’s side, and I was extremely grateful for that.Usually, it was hell before I could get them to stay inside, and since I didn’t want anyone to see them yet, I was relieved that I didn’t h

KOAThe sound of my grunts echoed in the walls of the training room of Sparta. Sweat dripped down my back as I fought the simulated man. I managed to dodge the strike of his sword and countered it with a quick elbow to its ribs. The technology at Sparta was so high-end that we could feel the artificial opponents as though they were real, which made training much more efficient for the younger ones who had never encountered real combat outside the pack.“Adjust difficulty to maximum,” I commanded, and the soldier adjusted to my command, transforming into a half-shifted werewolf. He came at me very fast, but I was ready for it. I ducked and pivoted on my heels before landing a brutal kick to its chest, which sent him flying back. The man vanished mid-air, resetting the simulation.I rolled my shoulders, starting to feel the impact of sparring for over three hours. It was all because of Soren. He had become more sensitive.“That’s a mild way to put it,” My wolf, Zel, hissed at me, and he
