AMIRA

“The simulations here are crazy. It’s hard to tell that it’s simulated” Rune commented as we walked deeper into the forest and I shared his thoughts as well.

If we hadn’t come through a door, I would not have been able to tell this place had been created. The similarities to real life was way better than what we had back at home. The creepy dark aura of the forest made chill travel down my spine with each noise and creak it produced.

“Watch out, Rune” Koa caught him before he could trip over a branch that was laying on the floor “The forest might be simulated but the creatures in here aren’t so keep quiet and listen. We can’t let our guard down. We can get hurt here”

“What crawled up your pants and died there?” Rune grumbled and ducked with a chuckle when Koa tried to smack him.

“Can you both leave your bickering till later and let’s communicate through the mind link so we can hear our surroundings better.” Soren scolded and they straightened.

SOREN“I’m beginning to doubt the scientist guy and his statement about dangerous creatures in here. We’ve been walking for a while and yet to come across any. And how big is this place? We’ve been walking for a while but we haven’t seen Ami nor seen what we are looking for” Rune complained in the mind link.I was still pissed at him for causing the landslide with his carelessness but I was keeping it to myself because I knew I might lose control here and it wouldn’t be good for us so I chose to ignore him.“Just focus before you cause an earthquake this time” Koa warned, having an annoyed look on his face that Rune noticed which made him shut up.“Ami? How are you guys?” I asked her through the mind link because I was filled with worry. I couldn’t think clearly and all I wanted to know was where she was and if she was safe.“I’m safe” she replied after some minutes and I let out a relieved sigh “You?”“We are okay. We haven’t seen anything yet” I said with a sigh.I was just as tired

AMIRAWe had been walking for a while with the others nowhere in sight and thankfully, no creatures at all. It made me start to doubt that there were any here.I could not stop worrying about Soren and the way he sounded before he put a wall on our private mind link channel.“Let’s wait here. Hopefully, they would meet us here” I told Ivannah when we got to any intersection.I was hoping the road they were on would lead them to us since there were many parts connected to it. I didn’t want us to thank one and miss the others again.I took a seat without waiting for an answer from Ivannah. She had not complained again after I warned her not to and I hoped she remained quiet.“Are we just going to sit on the floor?” She snidely asked and I didn’t hide the irritation on my face as I glared at her. I guess it was too early to say she would behave the entire time.“If you can’t sit, then be my guest and leave” I snapped at her, not in the mood to deal with her.Ivannah grumbled under her br

AMIRA“Amira” Ivannah called again and I looked at her in surprise. It was the first time I would hear even something remotely close to concern for me in her voice.Growling dragged my attention from her back to the wolf that knocked me down. His eyes glowed a slimy green, indicating that he wasn’t a regular rogue wolf but one that had lost its mind and was dangerous—a dark one.I jumped on my feet, ignoring the pain that travelled through my body at the impact of the tree. I stared at the broken tree behind me and at Ivannah who had paled like a ghost as she stood with fear on her face as she stared at the wolf.“At least she would shut up now” I muttered, ignoring the concern I heard in her voice before running towards the growling wolf that was storming towards me.The wolf launched at me, claws spread and his eyes firm with the intent to kill me. I moved swiftly to the side,

SORENI was getting frustrated the longer we walked without any sight of Amira and my worries were stronger and my desperation to find her, choking. We moved cautiously, eyes alert as we watched for any rustle or movement in the dark forest around us.Suddenly, a menacing growl broke the silence, and a wolf emerged from the path in front of us. His eyes gleamed green with feral insanity.“Isn’t that a fucking dark one?” Rune asked with surprise and fear in his voice.“They had dark ones in here? Are they stupid or what?” Koa growled as well as he prepared for the attack.I don’t know what came over me but I wasn’t in the mood to waste time and deal with the delay in finding Amira, so I stepped up, fueled by my desperation and slayed the wolf in front of me with a powerful and swift strike of the blade in my hands.

SORENThe forest seemed endless, and we were growing tired. The fake moonlight was the only thing giving us light and it seemed like we were never going to find the symbol.“How big is this place?” Rune asked, breaking the silence. There was frustration in his voice, and we shared the same feeling. “We have been searching for ages, and we’ve found nothing. Are you sure it’s in here? It feels like we are being punished”Koa nodded in agreement “I can see why the alpha built this in the human world. He would have never been able to hide something this big in our world”“That’s not what I am talking about, who cares about how well hidden this place is” Rune growled and Koa only pursed his lips, amused and kept walking.“Maybe we should yell that we give up and we don’t want to do this anymore. The alpha can just hand the symbol to you when it’s time for you to take

AMIRAThe fire burned fiercely around us, threatening to consume everything in its path. I was frozen in both fear and surprise as I stared at Soren. He was roaring with so much rage, more anger than I had ever seen from him and the fire burned furiously like the anger he felt. It was terrifying.“What is happening?” Rune yelled. His eyes were wide with fear, and Ivannah looked like she was close to death.Koa was surprised but not scared, and it made me wonder if he had ever suspected or known that Soren was an elemental before us.“Ami, do something, or else we are all going to die here” Rune cried, snapping me out of my thoughts as I turned my attention back to Soren. The air was thick with smoke and his body was blood red. It looked painful like streams of flames were on his skin instead of sweating. It was a terrifying sight to se

SOREN“Is that it?” Rune asked with a raised brow as he peered into the chest “The Myre is smaller than I thought it would be” he said, and I agreed. When my father always spoke about the Myre, he made it seem like a very big symbol of authority, but it was a little bit larger than my hand though it weighed more than it looked.“Pick it up so we can leave” Koa spoke, and I reached down and grabbed it.The moment I removed the Myre from the box, the ground underneath us began to shake violently like there was an earthquake.“What’s happening?” Ivannah cried out as she held onto Rune who was closest to her for balance. She had been quiet ever since the incident with Amira and she had not said a word even when I caused that fire even though there was terror on her face, and I was happy she knew that her input

AMIRAToday was my birthday. I woke up feeling both excitement and anticipation as to what would happen. Would I get my wolf? Dad said it was okay if I didn’t get it today because many people didn’t get their wolf on their 18th birthday anymore since mates disappeared, but I wanted to get mine today. The sun was already up, and it was a beautiful golden colour. I believed it would be a beautiful day for me, so I stretched and got out of bed, hoping to get the day started with a big smile.I got out of my room and ran straight to the kitchen where Dad was placing my favourite grilled lamb on the table.“Happy birthday, princess” Dad gave me a kiss on the forehead “I made your favourite food today” he gestured towards the table that was filled with all of my favourite meals.“Thank you, Dad” I hugged him “Where are Ivannah and her mother?” I asked after I took a seat and noticed that they weren’

AMIRAI took a step back, eyeing the man like he had gone mad because there was no way he would have uttered such a word if he was sane.“What did you just say? What experiment?” My voice shook with belief. What kind of psycho had Inara made us come to?“You are the child from the lab. The one we thought died in the fire” He repeats with a definite voice, his eyes hard and determined on the stupid words he was spurting.Fire? Died? Now, I was certain this man must be on something because I had never been associated with any fire incidents since I had been born.I shook my head in denial “You must be mistaking me for someone else. I have never been in a lab and I certainly don’t remember anything about a fire” I chuckled nervously and glanced at Koa who was looking at the man as though he had grown two heads. The man glanced at Koa who was already outside the house “You. Wait here”And with that, he slammed the door close, grabbed my hand and pulled me deeper into the house.“What are

AMIRA“There should be a car around here we can use. Let’s fine a garage” Koa suggested after we walked out of the communication room.“Wait” I called out when I sighted something on the wall “Isn’t that a map of the place?” I walked towards the image on the wall and just as I had suspected, it was a detailed map of the whole place.“That should be the garage. It’s in the basement right under where we are standing” Koa pointed at a spot on the drawing.I pointed at the end of the hallway “There is a stairway there. It should lead us there”We found the garage easily and picked the first car key we found on the rack “It’s this one” I told Koa as I pressed the button to unlock the car.“Perfect” he muttered “let’s hope we can find the address quickly”I slide into the passengers seat and Koa took the driver’s seat. My nerves were through the roof but I wanted to keep hope.“Ezra will be fine” Astrais assured. Her words brought hope to me but it didn’t dispel my worries totally.“He has

AMIRAWe stepped out of the portal that led us back to the human training facility. We had not been here since the test Alistair had forced us to take, and I had not been in the pack long enough to know whether Soren had taken control of managing the lab.Something was off. I felt it immediately when I stepped out of the portal. The familiar but nauseating smell of blood and death hit me and I felt the need to puke at the spot.“Something is wrong,” I told Koa as we stood in front of the lab. It shouldn’t be this quiet. At least, from what I had observed the first and only time I had been here.“You smell it too? Smells like dead bodies.” He scrunched his nose up. The smell was overwhelmingly strong, and I had to resist the urge to turn back and disappear into the portal before it closed to escape the stench.“Let’s hurry. I don’t like this feeling,” I told Koa before I pushed the large doors open.I stilled as soon as I opened the door. We didn’t need to go far to see why the stench

SORENI watched the portal close after they stepped into it, and I had to fight the strong urge to run after them. I felt uneasy in my chest, and it felt as though Amira was leaving again.“The children are here. She will be back,” Ignis spoke with an understanding tone that I hated. It felt like rubbing salt on an open wound.I hated that I was not the one in that portal with her. Everything was out of my control, and I hated not being in control.“Our priority is here with our sons,” Ignis reminded me, and I slowly turned to Noah and Elias, who was still watching me with wary green eyes that irritated me.I didn’t want my son to look at me like I was a stranger. I hated that. He shouldn’t be afraid of me. It was all because of Amira. If she hadn’t taken them and hidden them from me, then he wouldn’t have been so afraid of me.“Don’t be such a fool, Soren. She said she had her reasons. Don’t act more immature than a child,” Ignis snapped, his snide and mockery snapping those thoughts

AMIRASoren hated me.That fact was indisputable. I could see it in his eyes, the way he looked at me like he was close to tearing me to shreds. It was too much for me to bear. My heart was aching, knowing that I had hurt him so much that he started to hate me, but I also wasn’t willing to bridge the gap when I knew that as soon as I got what I needed, I might have to leave again.“Amira, what if we don’t have to leave? We can explain this to Soren and your father. Soren is now the alpha of the pack, so what Alistair says doesn’t matter anymore,” Astrais spoke up as I stood and watched Soren hold Elias to his chest. There were so many emotions in his eyes.“No, I can’t. Ivannah is his wife now. Valeria would be more dangerous now. She would do anything to keep Ivannah as Luna, and my children would be her target. I would never allow her to use my children against me.”“Soren would be able to protect them. It’s different now. You won’t be alone,” Astrais argued, but I pushed her back b

SORENI stumbled back in shock and Amira began to cough after I released her. The weight of her words settled in my chest like a rock and I found it hard to breathe. Our son. He is dying.I wanted to call her out on her lie. She wasn’t pregnant when she left. She could have told me. We only had sex once. Was it possible to get pregnant just like that?I wanted to accuse her of trying to manipulate me but there was something in her eyes. It was raw, frantic and desperate.Noah stepped into the room and the look in his eyes also stole my words of accusation out of me. She didn’t just leave. She lied as well.“What child?” I still asked “You never said anything about being pregnant” Despite my thoughts, the words still managed to come out. Before she could answer, a small figure ran into the room, planting himself in front of Amira.A small boy, barely six years old.He was so tiny with his hands spread out in front of him and his body trembling with rage that would have made me chuckle

SOREN“Maybe we should check it out by ourselves?” Ignis suggested.I had not been able to rest ever since I felt the bond surged to life. I know Koa and Rune thought otherwise but I knew it in my bones that she was close. It almost felt like she was in the pack, like she was back.“Check where? I know she isn’t back. Someone would have said something. We would have seen her when she crossed the borders”“But our feelings can never be wrong. Something tells me that there is no way we would feel the bond if she was in a pack close by. She has to be in the pack or along the borders. She is here” Ignis insisted.I wanted to hang onto his words and believe him, but I wasn’t up for another disappointment when they confirmed that what I was feeling was all in my head.I was pacing my office as my mind worked a million mile per minute. I could not get any work done and it was a nuisance.“I wonder why she didn’t just reject us properly. Now, I can’t get her out of my fucking head” I growled

AMIRA“Are you sure he is going to come without alerting Soren?” Dad asked with the same worry that plagued me.I paused my pacing to stare at him “I trust Koa. He promised not to tell anyone”Dad pointed at the clock “He promised to be here by 1 am, and it’s almost 2:30 am, but he isn’t here yet”I glanced at the time, and it caused me to bite my fingers in worry. I went in search of Koa earlier today because I was at my wit’s end.Dad had tried everything he could, but nothing worked. The venom was still eating Ezra, and the only thing Dad could do was slow down the venom, but we had to get it out if my baby would survive.Every second that passed felt like an eternity. My fingers curled into fists as I waited while glancing at the bedroom where my babies were. Elias had refused to leave his brother’s side, and I was extremely grateful for that.Usually, it was hell before I could get them to stay inside, and since I didn’t want anyone to see them yet, I was relieved that I didn’t h

KOAThe sound of my grunts echoed in the walls of the training room of Sparta. Sweat dripped down my back as I fought the simulated man. I managed to dodge the strike of his sword and countered it with a quick elbow to its ribs. The technology at Sparta was so high-end that we could feel the artificial opponents as though they were real, which made training much more efficient for the younger ones who had never encountered real combat outside the pack.“Adjust difficulty to maximum,” I commanded, and the soldier adjusted to my command, transforming into a half-shifted werewolf. He came at me very fast, but I was ready for it. I ducked and pivoted on my heels before landing a brutal kick to its chest, which sent him flying back. The man vanished mid-air, resetting the simulation.I rolled my shoulders, starting to feel the impact of sparring for over three hours. It was all because of Soren. He had become more sensitive.“That’s a mild way to put it,” My wolf, Zel, hissed at me, and he
