As I walked briskly down the street, I couldn't shake the feeling that someone was following me. I turned around to check, but there was no one there. My heart was pounding in my chest, and my palms were sweaty as I quickened my pace. I needed to get home and hide the book before anyone discovered it.

As I turned the corner onto my street, I saw a familiar figure standing outside my house. It was my father, Charles. I froze in my tracks, unsure of what to do. He was the last person I wanted to see right now, especially with the book in my possession.

My father noticed me and began to walk towards me, a skeptical look on his face. "Eden, what are you doing out when you're not meant to be? And why do you look so anxious?" he asked, scrutinizing me with his gaze.

I tried to compose myself and act casual, but my nerves were getting the best of me. "Oh, nothing. I just needed to clear my head before my exams start," I lied, hoping he would believe me.
