Chapter Two.

ANDREA.

When we got to the hall, everyone was busy doing different things. Some were arranging the chairs and the podium, and others were decorating the hall transforming it from its usual dull looks.

“Andrea, Sarah what are the both of you ogling at.” Christine, the head maid asked with a glare.

“Good morning ma’am Christine.” Sarah and I greeted.

“There is nothing good about the morning, Andrea what have you been doing since morning?.” she asked.

“Am sorry ma’am, I was down with a cold, so I couldn’t come out on time.”

“Always falling sick, I just pray to the moon goddess for you to have your wolf this night,” she said and I smiled. Although she acts angry and strict, she is still nice.

“Thanks, ma’am.”

“Sarah, you and Andrea will decorate the entrance with the Alpha’s favorite flower, violet roses, is that clear?”

“Yes, ma’am,” we replied and walked to the entrance, meeting the basket of roses there, so we quickly got to work.

It was already afternoon, and we were still working, gosh was tired and famished I wouldn’t eat until am done with this work, and I was getting lightheaded.

“Andy, are you okay?” Sarah asked with worry on her face.

“Am fi...I don’t think am fine, Sarah, I feel dizzy.” I complained holding my head.

“Why don’t you rest for a while.” she suggested, and I gasped, “Do you want to get me killed?”

“Oh stop exaggerating, no one is here so why don’t you just take a rest.”

“Alright” I sat down, breathing heavily, I closed my eyes for a while and started thinking about my life. If I can get my wolf tonight, am likely to get my mate tonight, then I can tell this sorry ass life of mine bye *that’s if am mates to an alpha or beta*.

“Andrea Carlson, get your lazy ass up” a voice I know too well said making me freeze on my spot.

“Andrea, what are you doing?” Luna Lily asked just like her daughter, she’s completely evil, and I don’t know what my mother did to her before she died.

“Good afternoon Luna, I was tired and just decided to take a short break,” I explained with my already sweaty palms.

“You were what?” she barked.

“Uhmmmm, I was taking a sh…” and a slap stopped any words from coming out.

“Andrea, if you don’t do what you are asked to do, I swear on the moon goddess you won’t like what I will do to you,” she yelled, and I jumped up running out like my feet were on fire.

I got to the hall and saw everyone going out, I guess everything has been done.

“Andy,” Sarah called running to me with concern written all over her face.

“Andy are you okay?” she asked and held my face making me wince.

“Sorry, she did this to you right,” she asked, and I nodded.

“That witch,” she said with an angry gaze making her eyes go all yellowish.

“Okay there Piper, am fine okay,” I said to her wolf making her eyes return to her normal brown irises.

“Am sorry Piper took control.” she apologized with a shy smile.

“It’s okay, am glad Piper cares for me.”

“Let’s go.” she took my hand and dragged me out of the hall.

“Where are we going?” I asked.

“Shopping of course,” she said, and I paused, staring at her with a blank look.

“What? Where did you get the money from?” I asked.

“Don’t worry your little brain how I got the money, but since you asked I will tell you, I got the money from beta Conan yesterday,” she said.

“How come.”

“Let’s just say I did some work for him and I got paid.” I signed and nodded.

“But am not going to that ceremony.”

“Why?” she asked.

“Because I would rather not keep my hope up only to be disappointed again, what if I don’t have my wolf or mate tonight.” she held my hand staring into my eyes.

“Andy don’t lose hope yet huh, I’ve got this feeling that you’re getting your wolf tonight, but I don’t know about your mate,” she said, and I chuckled.

“Okay let’s go.” We got permission from Miss Christine before leaving for town, and good thing Miss Christine was in a good mood.

Night time (crescent moon pack hall)

The hall of the crescent moon pack was filled with different Alpha, Luna, beta, gamma, and omegas from different packs all over the continent. It was compulsory for them to be here today because it was the most important celebration where un-mated wolves find their mates, and it was also the day the most powerful Alpha’s son Nicholas was getting his mate. The hall was filled to the brim and more people were still coming, every coming of age for a wolf is always special, especially when they get their wolf and mate for the first time.

The celebration differs from one pack to another, for instance, the crescent moon pack way is more enjoyable. The in-mated male will have to catch their supposed mate after getting a sniff of their scent.

ANDREA

“Aren’t you ready yet, Andy?” Sarah asked with an irritating look on her face.

“Am almost done, Sarah.” I sighed, trying to make my makeup perfect but not too much.

“That’s what you’ve been saying for the past forty minutes now,” she whined again, but I kept quiet and added my lipstick.

“And done.” I dropped the lipstick on the vanity table and stared at myself in the mirror. Beautiful, the red dress Sarah chose for me was impeccable. The hem was nicely sewn, and the hand was strapless with glitters all over the gown. I thanked beta Conan mentally wherever he was, he’s the reason Sarah was able to buy this beautiful dress for me, if not I would have been in one of my rags on today of all important days.

“Can we leave now?” she asked and I nodded. Breathing in and out twice, we walked out of the room(Sarah’s room) to the hall for the mating ceremony. I gasped when I saw how beautiful and illuminating the hall was, we did a number on it. The once-old hall transformed into another thing entirely, I could see almost all the Alpha, betas, and Luna who came from far and near to grace the mating ceremony of Alpha Jason’s son and heir, Nicholas Curtis. Nicholas has always and will always be my crush from afar, I like him very much, especially when he smiles at me, it makes my legs wobbly.

“I pray I find a handsome rich male to be my mate,” Sarah said with dreamy eyes. I laughed at her thoughts, one thing I love about Sarah is that she’s an outspoken person, whatever she’s thinking about you or something else, she will always say it out loud.

“And I pray for the moon goddess to grant your heart's desires, oh ye daughter of Selene,” I added, clamping my hands together with my eyes closed.

“And what about you, don’t you have anything to ask from the moon goddess,” she asked, and I shook my head.

“I don’t, whatever she gives to me, I will gladly accept only if the male is from another pack.” she raised an eyebrow at me.

“Even if the male is ugly.” I nodded.

“Even if the male is an imbecile, a dumb or deaf or a cripple or a….” I shut her mouth with my hand.

“That’s enough, Sarah. Even though I didn’t make any request from the moon Goddess, I know she won’t give males with those characteristics.” she shrugged, and I released my hand.

All the males were asked to go to the other end of the hall and perform some ritual before getting their wolf. They were asked to pull their shirts off, leaving them in just their shorts, and offer a sacrifice of a bowl filled with what looks like blood to the moon Goddess, and when the moon shone brightly, it meant Selene accepted the sacrifice.

They all did as the elders said and when they were done, they ripped their shorts as they transformed into their beastly form. Howls filled the hall as different wolves ran around, I could hear the excruciating pains from Sarah as she also changed. But why am I not changing, I was the only one standing in this room except the elders, of course.
