Adi Grenier smiled and helped his wife with the clip for the necklace and gently kissed her shoulder. "You look pretty, Kathy!"

"Thank you Adi. It really is a beautiful gift."

"I am glad you liked it. Let's leave Kathy. It is time to check out."

As Adi turned to him Kathy could not help herself and caught his wrist, "Adi? Do we have to go back so soon? Can we not have a longer honeymoon?"

Adi sighed. "Kathy. I already told you when you insisted on having the wedding this weekend that I would not be able to take a longer leave. I have important clients coming in this evening and I cannot wait longer."

But Kathy did not let go. "Then next time. Can you promise me the next time, Adi? When this project is finished, then will you let me be with you longer?"

Finally, Adi pulled his hand out of her grasp and answered coldly," Kathy. I already warned you that I don't like clingy women. You and I may be husband and wife but we are not in love and do not have normal marriage. So, it would be good if you remember that. We are married for only one reason. And that is so that I can have a family. And you promised you understood this and would not ask for more. It hasn't been two days and you seem to have forgotten the agreement. Would you like me to bring out the pre-nuptial papers for you to re-read?"

Bowing her head, Kathy shook her head and said in a small voice," No. Adi. I am sorry. I forgot my place. I think I got carried away with the bride fever. It won't happen again." Raising her head in a charming smile, she then said," Forgive me this time?"

"This time. Let's go, Kathy." With that Adi walked away from the room, leaving behind a fuming Kathy! Dam* it! She would get Adi to fall for her. Even though the man had promised to take care of her financial needs for life, the only way she would be sure to have his protection from her family was to have him love and protect her unconditionally.

Seeing that the door was closed, she carefully opened her vanity box and popped out a pill. As long as Adi wanted her to have his baby, he would continue to sleep with her. And as long as he continued to sleep with her, she would win his heart.

The high rise that held the office of GrenierHeming Inc. was abuzz with excitement. The last two days had been a roller coaster of gossip for all the staff and those who knew the two tycoons.

On one hand, Adi Grenier, their beloved most eligible bachelor had been taken off the market by Kathy Bates, the supermodel and heiress bi*ch. Most women who had previously been jealous had finally remarked that their second-favourite boss Andrew Heming had better taste in women. His wife Faith Heming was not as beautiful as the supermodel but she was sweet and smart and had a smile for everyone!

Who would have expected that the day after the wedding of the century, Faith Heming would serve her husband with divorce papers? What a fine few days! One boss is off the block and another one is ready to be single again.

One of the 'busy' workers leaned against the reception desk and spoke," Have you heard the reason for Director Andrew's divorce? Who do you think is at fault and what could be the reason?"

"Not really. But I don't think that all is above board. Faith Heming is too sweet to want a divorce. I mean she does not come across like a person who would give up on a relationship so easily..."

"Exactly. Do you remember Madam Faith once scolded a customer for being rude to the staff? In today's times when the customer is King, there is hardly anyone who would stand for the staff. And she had even looked cute doing the scolding. Why would she need a divorce?"

"Yes! Director Andrew had almost fired the man before Madam intervened. Yes. They looked like a perfect couple."

Just then another person who had been sitting aside quietly all along piped up, "But I don't think all is as well as it seemed. You don't know. I was once dining in a restaurant with my cousin and I saw Mrs Heming coming out of the private room with tears in her eyes. She didn't see me but I saw. I thought someone had dared to bully her and was about to march in and tell them who she was when I saw it was Director Andrew and his family who were in the room. And let me tell you she did not come back for a long time and no one in the room was bothered."

The others were horrified at the thought of this. If his wife was crying, shouldn't Director Andrew have chased after her? Before they could speak more, suddenly a shadow fell over the people who were gathered around the reception.

As everyone looked on with shocked expressions, Adi Grenier stared at them coldly. He had nothing against gossip among co-workers. They were humans after all and needed to let off steam. But only if it was after hours or during the break. And now, when they were in the middle of expecting an important international client, they dared to be so careless...

"Would someone like to share what is so interesting that you are all gathered here?"

"Sir! You are back so soon from your honeymoon! We did not think you would return for a week at least! What a surprise... Oh.. maybe considering the circumstances it was.."

As the woman was elbowed by her partner in crime, Adi suddenly realized that something seemed to have happened in his office during his absence. The gossip was not circling around something mundane.

"What circumstances are we talking about?"

"Oh, Director Andrew must be shattered because of the divorce right? And unable to come to attend the client?"

Adi stilled when he heard what the employee had said. "What did you say?"

The employee suddenly realized that he seemed to have said something that the boss did not know.

"Director Grenier... Madam... I mean Mrs. Faith Heming has sent a divorce notice to Director Andrew yesterday."

In the past: Faith could not have expected that she would not be able to keep her promise to Mr. Darcy once again as she stared down at the cards that she had been dealt. While yesterday the two had battled it out in the many games of chess, Faith had discovered that Adi was a good card player also. Thus, with the rains still going hard at it, she had asked if he would be willing to teach her. Cards had always fascinated her. But sadly the only game she did know to play was Speed. And she was pretty bad at it! Somehow, she always ended up remaining the last person, her cards still in hand. "So, which game do you want to learn?" "I don't even know the names of the games. Just teach me anything." Adi, stopping mid shuffle, looked at her in surprise. "How can you not know any game? Your father is an expert!" "And mother is of the firm opinion that girls should not gamble!" "Really? Aunty does not come across as old fashioned..." "She isn't in some things. But the ones she does bel

Andrew Heming sipped at his glass slowly as he listened to the private investigator give his report. It was certainly not what he had expected. His dear wife who was about to become his ex had been having the time of her life since serving him the divorce papers."So, she has not had any contact with anyone other than her best friend and her lawyer?""No, sir. Not even when she has gone out dancing and clubbing the only people are Miss Grace and Mrs Faith. There have been many times when men have tried to approach the two women but both have always been rejecting them.""I see. And what about Adi?"The private investigator frowned at the sudden question. They were discussing the man's wife, how did Adi Grenier come up in the conversation?"Sir? Mr Adi?""Hasn't she been in touch with Adi? "Faith! What a surprise seeing you here!" Faith turned around only to be hugged and surrounded by the smell of expensive perfume, almost immediately causing herself a headache. At the same moment, her eyes met Adi's before his gaze shifted away. Stepping back, she smiled at the two people before answering the woman," Kathy! It is a pleasant surprise seeing you here. How are you doing? No need to answer that. You are positively glowing after your marriage!" "Yes! Adi is treating me really well! Are you here to see Andrew? Should we have lunch together? After all, you two are good friends with my husband!" Faith raised an eyebrow towards Adi in question at this. His wife was not aware of her and Andrew's divorce discussions. With a shake of her head, Faith declined," Not today, I'm afraid. I am here to discuss my divorce with Andrew." It was at this moment that Adi Grenier finally spoke, " Are you not planning on reconciling?" Before Faith could answer the question the elevator doo

Adi twisted the fork in his hands as he thought of the time when Faith had agreed to marry Andrew. He was the one who had pushed her into Andrew's arms figuratively and that was his biggest regret now. It was his own cowardice that stared back at him every time he met them and saw her. He always thought to himself that he would be happy seeing her happy but every time he had seen her hold Andrew's hand and smile, he had only hated himself. Looking up, he saw that the restaurant was serving the Trifle Pudding today. The mere sight of the pudding took him back a few years ago. He had already moved onto the campus and taken to stay with Faith's family during the weekends. Though his coursework barely allowed him to take time off, he realized that he could not stay away for longer times as he would miss the homely feeling he had there. And thus he would pull all-nighters just so he would have the weekend free. Most weekends were spent at home playing cards or chess while sometimes he an

Even though she had repeatedly told him that they were only friends, he had always felt insecure about the two's relationship because Adi had been the only guy friend in her life in the past. In fact, when Adi announced his marriage to Kathy, he had been the one who felt the biggest relief. He had thought that maybe now he could make progress with Faith without feeling insecure. But instead, Faith had served him with divorce papers...But what she said next made the ground beneath his feet shift and he could feel a sinking sensation overtake his body. Faith rubbed her forehead as she strode back towards her car. She should have known this would happen. Andrew was never willing to listen to her in the past. To him, just because he said everything would be alright, it should be. After all, the world revolved around him! And she had not even started to count the injustices and insults that he himself had meted out to her. A past memory flashed in her mind, Andrew screaming at her," Why did I have to get saddled with you?" Shaking her head, she opened her car door and was about to get in when her eyes met the man who stood on the opposite side. Seeing that he had her attention, the man angled his head slightly to the side saying nothing. In return, Faith nodded and got into the car, waiting. While she had been trying to not hate Andrew, her old feelings for Adi had kept rearing their head and she had come to a realization. To her, no one could compare to Adi. Adi walked from the airport's parking towards the lounge with a grim face followed by his assistant and two other people though they maintained a distance from the man. It was clear to all that their boss was in a 'mood'. To add to their woes, the airport seemed to be extra crowded today while the VIP entrance for private planes was closed. To say he was angry would be an understatement. He wanted to cancel everything and spend his time with Faith but instead, he had not even been able to talk to her today, let alone be with her. She had been so busy during the day that he had been tempted to just go and kidnap her. He'd yearned to ask her to come with him on this trip. Maybe he could come clean about the secrets of the past. But now... maybe once he was back, he'd plan a holiday with her instead of a working trip. If she agreed. His thoughts were interrupted by a silhouette that resembled Faith and he stopped to look. If I could, I'd turn myself into that pendant you are wearing and always be near you."Guffawing at the gibberish he was speaking with such a serious face, Faith thanked the heavens she was wearing her pods. If anyone would have overheard, she would die of embarrassment!"Adi! That is the dopiest thing I've heard from you!""Fifi. I can be more dopey. I am going to fire my assistant. He should have consulted me before arranging my schedule."Faith placed the dough into the freezer and commented, "Well, I am sure it is not the first time he has arranged your schedule. As Faith raced into the shower to get ready, Adi fell back onto the bed with a groan. It was only half past six and she was already rushing about. There were so many things they needed to talk about, secrets that he needed to reveal so that they would be able to build a strong relationship. Sitting up, he rubbed the back of his neck and pushed aside the blankets, grabbing his shorts. He'd worry later. For now, he needed to make her breakfast or else the girl would skip it. A habit that she had since her own school days! Faith showered hurriedly but as she started to dress, she could not help and look at the little marks that Adi had left all over her. Before Faith could even understand the happiness and elation coursing through her, Adi was kissing her... once, twice... making her realize that now that they had known each other, never would be enough. Immersed in the giddiness of having him, Faith kissed him back... fervently and urgently. Her fingers combed through his hair, settling on the nape of his neck... trying to press closer. Adi kissed her as if his life depended on it. He was ecstatic that this time she had not just accepted his kiss or even only begrudgingly kissed him back. She was in this moment as much as he was. He caressed her bare back, running his finger along the length of her spine. She arched into him at the sensation, a slight moan escaping her as their kiss broke and she threw back her head in abandon. Faith felt as if she was melting into him. His scent seemed to surround her as she inhaled sharply. Never before had she felt like this. This urgency to be with anyone, to feel him so fully pressed against he

As Faith struggled to get off Adi's lap as she protested that she wasn't thirsty, Adi was not yet ready to let her go. Instead, he brought his lips close to hers and whispered," I am thirsty. And jealous." Noticing that Ross had not followed them, Adi pulled her away from the crowd towards a small escape door at the back. Once inside, the music from outside was cut off and the slightly bright light showed her flushed face. Blinking up at Adi, Faith could not help but frown," What is wrong with you, Adi?" "I am jealous. So I wanted to steal you away and I did." "Jealous of what?" Faith questioned while crossing her arms in front of her. Her stance told him she was ready to fight if he ended up speaking the wrong thing. So, he delayed using strategy. Instead of answering, he pulled her close and gently wiped her face with a handkerchief, before placing a small peck on her lips. "I am jealous that I cannot dance with you. "I never thought you'd one day become a party girl," Adi commented as he drove through the mind-numbing traffic towards the club Faith mentioned. It had surprised him when he saw her all dressed up to leave the house when he arrived there. Surprised and almost burned up the possessiveness that was burning inside him. Andrew had given him quite a shock today. Having lived with seeing her and Andrew together, he had assumed that he would be able to handle any jealousy due to Faith being friendly with other men. However, he now understood. When she had been Andrew, he had loved he but never seen her as being 'his'. And that was not the case now. He had already made his intentions clear and was determined to win her over. And so, as Andrew said, he would have to own this covetousness and proprietorial instinct or Faith would never be his. Looking at the way she was presently dressed, he would have to quickly grasp the green eyes monster because if he really did try to cover up those beau

Adi, these Fridays you have started taking half working days.”Continuing to read his file, Adi hummed in agreement at the statement not elaborating anything more.Andrew continued,” Well, why?”"Why not?" came the standard non-interested reply."Are you seeing someone?" Andrew probed."Since when were you interested in my business, Andrew?""I always have been Adi. It is why we are still friends.""Just tell me what you need, Andrew." Adi finally sighed.
