Sarah's POV

"Ma'am, we'll have to sedate you in order to safely retrieve the embryo." "It can't stay any longer or you'll be poisoned in this state," the doctor whispered, breaking my heart.

My body began to heat up as my heart began to pound. I felt a lump on my throat. It was so painful.

I was afraid I'd die from a broken heart.

Garry, my husband, has been holding my hand since he came. The last time I saw him sob inconsolably was when we miscarried our twins two years ago.

Sometimes I feel as if I wasn't meant to experience the joys of parenthood in this life.

My mother and father arrived unexpectedly. They were the last people I anticipated seeing.

Who told them, after all? Luis is definitely in trouble!

"Sarah!" my mother mumbled as she reached for my hand. Her eyes had already welled up with tears. I despised her act at every turn.
