The Trap

While the Collen siblings were plotting how to ensnare Johanne, she was feeling uneasy about what she had asked Edward the previous Saturday. She had practically proposed to him that they start something, and she regretted it, as she also didn't feel ready to open her heart.

"Johanne, good morning," Edward, as always, pulled her out of her thoughts. It was early Monday, and he was standing at the door of her room.

"Mr. Edward, good morning! Did you get some rest?" she asked.

"Hmm, more or less. You see, I can't stop thinking about you, and having you so close makes it a bit difficult for me to sleep," he said as he approached the dressing table where she was fixing her hair and gave her a warm kiss on the cheek.

She felt nervous at his touch, and a gentle warmth spread through her chest. She turned to look at him and warmly kissed him back on the cheek.
