“Why is she taking so long?” I ask Marion, who has brought me a glass of water while I wait for Lilibeth, who is a few minutes late and hasn’t come down yet.

“I don’t know, sir. She might not be much longer. Oh, look, she’s coming down now. She looks truly beautiful, Miss.” I turn when she says this, and indeed, she is right; Lilibeth looks stunning.

“Thank you, Mrs. Marion.” She smiles warmly, while I am mesmerized watching her descend the stairs.
