Alessia's Pov

After a long shift at the bar, I finally dragged myself home, my feet aching with each step. The warmth of the shower soothed my body, but my mind was far from relaxed. As the water cascaded down my skin, I kept replaying Luca’s offer in my head. Another job, same pay. The idea made my stomach churn. After everything I’d seen, did I really want to step further into his shadowy world?

I wrapped myself in a towel, brushing my wet hair back as I stood in front of the mirror, trying to make sense of my thoughts. "You don’t have to do this, Alessia," I muttered to myself. "But you need the money..."

Before I could dwell on it further, my phone rang. Seeing the doctor’s name on the screen made my stomach tighten with unease.

"Hello?" I answered hesitantly, holding the phone tightly.

"Miss Alessia, this is Dr. Alberti ," the familiar voice greeted me. His tone was calm but carried a weight that immediately put me on edge.

"Hi, Doctor," I said, my voice trembling slightly. "Is

You’ve been the greatest joy of my life, and I want you to know that."Her words shattered something inside me. "Mamma, please don’t talk like this," I pleaded, my voice trembling. "You’re going to get through this. We’ll get through this together.""Life doesn’t always go the way we plan, Alessia," she said softly, her voice laced with quiet resignation. "But it’s important to say these things while we can. You’ve made me so proud, and I love you more than words can say."Tears streamed down my cheeks, and I pressed the phone closer to my ear. "I love you too, Mamma. So much."Her weak chuckle broke the moment. "I know. Now, enough of this heavy talk. Tell me something funny. Did you burn another pot of pasta last week?"The shift in tone caught me off guard, but I latched onto it, desperate to lighten the moment. "No," I said, laughing thro

Alessia's Pov I followed Luca into the dining room, my heels clicking against the polished marble floor. The room was grand, with towering ceilings and a chandelier that seemed to drip with diamonds. At the center of it all sat Madam Claudia, her posture regal, her piercing eyes watching us like a predator sizing up its prey."Come, sit," she said, her voice as smooth as velvet yet carrying an undertone of steel. She gestured to the two chairs opposite her at the long, mahogany table. The air felt thick, and my stomach churned as Luca pulled out my chair."Thank you," I murmured, sitting down, trying to maintain a calm exterior.Madam Claudia's lips curved into a faint smile, but it didn’t reach her eyes. "You must be Alessia," she said, her tone deceptively warm. " Matteo has told me so much about you."I shot Luca a quick glance, panic flashing in my eyes. What exactly had he told her?"All good things, I hope," I replied, forcing a polite smile."Of course," Madam Claudia said, he

Alessia's Pov As we reached the grand double doors of the Claudia Mansion, Madam Claudia’s voice stopped us in our tracks."One more thing," she said, her tone carrying the weight of authority. Luca and I turned back to face her. She stood at the threshold of the dining room, her hands clasped in front of her. Her eyes were as sharp as ever, scanning us both."If you want my full trust, Matteo," she began, her gaze settling on Luca, "you’ll need to show me your commitment. Words and appearances only go so far. A marriage—now that would solidify everything. Only then can I truly believe in your devotion."I felt the ground shift beneath me. Marriage? My mouth went dry, and my pulse quickened. Before I could say a word, Luca stepped forward with a smooth smile, as if her request were the most natural thing in the world."Of course, Madam Claudia," he said confidently. "We’ve already begun making plans. It’s only a matter of time."What? My head whipped toward him, my eyes wide with sho

Alessia's Pov The morning sun filtered through my curtains, teasing me awake. My eyes fluttered open, and I groaned, burying my face in the pillow for a moment. But then Sophia’s pleading voice from the night before echoed in my mind, and I sat up, determination replacing my sluggishness.Today, I was going to help her. No matter what.I grabbed my phone off the bedside table and dialed Sophia’s number. She picked up after the second ring.“Hello?” Her voice sounded small, hesitant.“Sophia, it’s me,” I said brightly, trying to lift her mood. “I’ve been thinking about what you said, and I’ve got a plan. Before we even think about the bar, I’m taking you to a few other places. We’ll try a café, a salon, and maybe another bar. Someone will say yes.”There was a pause before she spoke. “You’re serious?”“Of course I am,” I said, already rummaging through my closet for something presentable. “Meet me at the corner by my apartment in an hour.”“Thank you, Alessia,” she said softly, and I

Alessia's Pov Marcello handed Sophia the clipboard with some forms. “Fill these out before tomorrow. And be here at 6 p.m. sharp. I mean it.”I smiled, feeling a small sense of accomplishment. “Don’t thank me yet. Marcello’s bar can be intense. Just do your best, and you’ll be fine.”The next day,we arrived on time for our shifts, the bar was alive with the hum of conversation and the clinking of glasses, but there was an undercurrent of chaos that came with every shift. Marcello’s bar was a melting pot of personalities: rowdy regulars, tourists looking for a thrill, and those with darker intentions hiding behind charming smiles.Sophia and I worked side by side, weaving through the crowd with trays balanced in our hands. Her nervousness was evident in the way she clutched her tray like it was a lifeline, but she was tryin

I wiped my tears with trembling hands, trying to pull myself together. After a moment of silence, Sophia sat down beside me, her curiosity breaking through her concern. “What about that guy you’re always with?”I blinked, startled by her question. “Luca?”“Yeah,” she said, tilting her head. “Doesn’t he… you know, help you out? Alessia's Pov The sweet aroma of freshly brewed coffee wafted into my senses, pulling me from the edge of sleep. My eyelids fluttered as my groggy mind tried to grasp the impossibility of the moment. The scent was rich and perfect, as if a barista had stepped into my kitchen and worked their magic.I inhaled deeply, savoring it, and a lazy smile crept across my face. And that’s when I saw him.Luca.He was sitting casually on a chair he’d pulled directly across from my bed, legs crossed, a steaming mug of coffee in his hand. Who? Did you call the police?”“Luca,” I replied, sinking into the couch. There was a beat of silence before she burst out laughing. “Wait, Luca? Oh, Alessia, that’s not a creep—that’s your mysterious, brooding… I don’t even know what to call him. Luca's Pov I sat in the dim light of my private study as the phone rang relentlessly on my mahogany desk. The storm of our recent actions still raged inside me—a storm I had long learned to harness but never truly control. I picked up the receiver with steady fingers, my voice low and resolute.“Rico,” I said, “it’s time.”On the other end, Rico’s tone was cautious, laden with concern. “Time? Are you absolutely sure, Luca?”I paused, letting silence hang in the line for a moment as I recalled every calculated step that had led to this point. “Yes, Rico. I’m sure,” I replied, my voice firm. “Tonight, we blow up the Claudia Mansion. It’s the final move.”There was a brief silence before Rico replied, “You really believe this will end it all?” His voice carried a mix of skepticism and worry.I nearly laughed at his question. “Belief is irrelevant when it comes to power, Rico. I built this island, and I have the means to reshape everything. The mansion is the nerve center of the Claudia E

Alessia's Pov The single word knocked the air out of my lungs. For a second, I thought I hadn’t heard him right. But there was no mistaking the cold, unwavering finality in his voice.I let out a bitter laugh, shaking my head. "You really don’t feel anything, do you?"Luca’s jaw tightened, but he didn’t look away. "Feelings have no place in what I do, Alessia.""Then what was I?" I demanded, stepping closer. "Just a pawn in your game? Just someone to manipulate?""You were a means to an end," he said simply, as if it were the most obvious thing in the world. "You were close to Sophia. That made you useful."The way he said it, so detached, so emotionless, shattered something inside me."Useful?" My voice cracked, but I didn’t care. "That’s all I ever was to you?"Luca’s gaze darkened, but he didn’t respond. And that silence was louder than any words he could have spoken.I swallowed past the lump in my throat, blinking rapidly to fight the sting in my eyes. "I was stupid," I whispere

A pawn to keep you from feeling the emptiness of power?”For a long, excruciating moment, Luca said nothing. The silence between us was deafening, filled with all the words we both refused to speak. Finally, his voice came out low, almost regretful. “I did what I had to, Alessia. I can’t change that.”“Then why was I even here?” I demanded, stepping closer until our faces were inches apart. “Why did you let me think we meant something to each other? Why did you let me love you?”Luca’s eyes softened briefly before hardening again. “I cared about you, but not in the way you want me to. I am not a man of sentiment. I am a man of power. And if you truly loved me, you’d understand that.”I felt my heart shatter at his words, my voice barely a whisper. “Understand? How can I understand when every day I feel more alone than the

Alessia's Pov Andrea nodded, his jaw set. "I won’t forget this night, Alessia. Not as long as I live. I promise you, whoever’s behind this, we’ll bring them down. We have to."But as the helicopter began to lift off, the sound of its rotors drowning out the chaos below, a sudden realization hit me with crushing force. Even as we soared away from the burning wreckage and the doomed island, the sense of dread lingered like a stain on my soul. I could still feel unseen eyes on me, and every turn of the helicopter made me wonder if this was truly the end—or just the beginning of a new nightmare.I leaned back in the cramped helicopter seat, trying to catch my breath, my mind racing. Andrea and Sophia sat quietly beside me, their expressions solemn. Sophia’s grip on the journal tightened even further, and I could see the determination in her eyes as she stared out at the receding island."I can’t shake the feeling," I murmured, almost to myself, "that someone’s still watching us."And

Alessias point of veiw The air inside the tower was heavy with dread as I tried to catch my breath, still reeling from the earlier chaos. We had barely recovered from the previous skirmishes when, without warning, the heavy doors burst open. My heart lurched as a fresh wave of masked men flooded into the room—more of them than before, their eyes cold and ruthless behind their dark visors. In an instant, the fragile calm we had managed to salvage was shattered.“Run!” someone screamed, but there was no time. I dove for cover behind a row of old wooden crates, the sound of clashing bodies and frantic shouts filling the air. The attack was relentless. I could see Andrea leaping to intercept an assailant rushing toward me, and I heard Sophia’s anguished cry as she was cornered near a battered desk.Instinct took over. I scrambled to my feet, grabbing a piece of broken equipment—a jagged shard of metal from a shattered lamp—and steeled myself for the fight. A masked attacker lunged tow

Luca's Pov Rico leaned back, studying me with a look that mixed disbelief and concern. “You always say you care, but you’re never that sentimental. So, you really just see her as another casualty in our war? Another pawn?” His voice was low, almost challenging.I swallowed hard, feeling the weight of every memory press upon me. “I see her as a person who’s suffering. I didn’t plan for her to be part of this, but she’s here, and I can’t let her get hurt. That doesn’t mean I love her. It means I’m… responsible. And perhaps, a part of me feels guilty for all that’s happened.”Rico’s face softened for a moment, but his tone remained sharp. “Guilt won’t save you, Luca. And neither will pity. We’re dealing with enemies who will stop at nothing. You know that. And if we’re not careful—”I slammed my glass down, the sound echoing. “I am careful. I always have been.” I paused, then added, “I am Luca Romano. I built this empire. I’m not going to let sentimentality get in the way of what mus
