It’s Friday. Game day. A day I have been waiting for all week. Ever since Monday night I have kept my head down and worked my ass off with schoolwork, football, and rebuilding a friendship with Savannah. After I walked Savannah home Monday night, she got me thinking about my future too. I never went and caught up with my friends I got home and went and spoke to my dad about college, and we discussed everything in the finance major as this is what I want to do I want to keep my family’s legacy alive. I sat at my desk for the rest of the night, and I applied to the same university my parents went to and fell in love. I have applied to Berkeley University. I have gotten a recommendation letter from HR at the office with the hours I have put in there and I will be speaking to my football coach and my math teacher about letters too to go with my application. I have kept my distance from all the girls in school but stayed close enough to Jen and her little circle of friends as I noticed
Once we get far enough away from what just happened, I am standing outside the locker room. I turn Savannah around to look at me as I hold onto her shoulders. “Savannah I am so sorry you witnessed that and I’m sorry for how he spoke to you. You deserve so much more than what he said, and I promise you right now he will never come anywhere near you if it’s the last thing I do.” “Chase whatever happened back there was not your fault. He provoked you and you done what any guy would do. You defended me and I want to say thank you for that.” She holds onto my forearms to comfort me and calm me down. “I will be in the stands with your folks and Jen and if you wanna talk after the game about what happened then I’m here to listen.” For the second time in so many minutes, Savannah kisses my cheek and walks to find my family. I head on into the locker room, to my locker, and start gearing up for the game. Just as I finished lacing up my boots coach comes charging into the locker room to give
Savannah P.O.V Sitting up in the stands With Jen and her parents on one side, my dad on the other side, and Selena behind me. Dad was invited to come by Mr. Lockwood to come and watch as Dad used to play football in high school and college so this must feel like he’s a young man again. Selena leans forward and whispers to both Jen and me. “What the hell happened earlier? It’s all I have been hearing about since I arrived.” Selena asks as she leans forward to talk to me from behind. “Yeah, I wanna know the same thing.” Jen turns and looks at me, “I heard there’s college scouts here to see some of the guys play but surely it’s not that.” Oh, shit if the scouts are here for Chase if they know about him laying out Vance, he’s never going to get a scholarship and I will feel responsible. So, I tell the girls the short version of what happened. “Vance was saying he’s going to take me away from Chase just like he did with Candace. I had to stop Chase from hitting Vance then, but Vance
The third quarter was interesting Lucas scored a touchdown from the forty-meter yard line. That is impressive for a young man like himself and what I have been told by Selena who goes doe eyes every time his name is mentioned. I think she may have feelings for him I need to know their story. But anyway, with what Selena was telling me he’s a fellow country student. From Victoria, Texas. I thought I could hear a Texan accent from him when I heard his voice at the ice cream parlor. But anyway, back to the game. Lucas scored a touchdown that took our lead up even more, but Venice High were fighting back hard. This game feels like it’s going to be a bloodbath. I wasn’t wrong with saying it’s going to be a close game as in the middle of the third quarter Venice High hits back with two touchdowns of their own, when the ball was clearly stolen from us. I think I’m not going to have a voice after the end of the game with all this shouting and cheering I have been doing. The start of the fo
Chase P.O.V When we got home Jen and I spoke to our parents about what that prick did during the last moment of the game and what the physicians said. I am only winded and will be fairly bruised no signs of concussions or whiplash so I will live to tell the tale. Our parents decided to call it a night, so Jen and I are sitting on the couch in the family room. “So, care to spill the tea with what’s going on between you and Savannah? I swear you guys run hot and cold more than the faucets.” “I couldn’t agree with you more sis but there’s nothing really to tell.” “I call bullshit.” “Jen I’m serious there’s nothing to tell you. We are just wanting to get to know each other. I am trying my fucking best to not fuck up with her again. I am slowly gaining her trust back and right now that’s what’s important to me.” “Well since I know she starts her first day at her new job tomorrow, I may be able to help you get that little bit closer to gaining her trust back.” “What are you tal
Walking into the kitchen I see Dad sitting in his usual seat on a Saturday morning reading his newspaper. He hears me open the fridge to grab a drink of orange juice, he puts his newspaper down. “Good morning son how are you feeling after that tackle last night?” “I’m feeling a little sore, but I can manage the pain it’s not stopping me from my morning run today.” “That’s what I like to hear you played outstanding last night Chase your mom and I are so proud of you.” “Thanks, Dad that means a lot to me.” I take a sip of my drink and I grab a banana and take a seat at the table opposite Dad. Now is the best time to ask him with Jen and Mom not around. “Hey, Dad I want to surprise Savannah at work today by sending a good luck gift and I was thinking Calla Lilies delivered to her workplace and after her shift take over an Orchid to congratulate her on her first day.” “That sounds very nice of you son, yeah so how can I help?” “What is the number for the florist you use to bu
Savannah P.O.V My first shift at work is going smoothly. I’m impressing Jen throughout my training today with my waitressing skills. We had a brief discussion about my previous experience at the diner in North Carolina, and Jen showed me how the till worked and told me the table number layout, I was serving tables like I have worked here my entire life. It was coming close to my lunch break and just before I clocked out for lunch Lucas came in with Chase not far behind him. Whilst I am standing at the service bar Lucas speaks to the host, and she points out Selena to him. Jen comes and stands next to me and links her arm through mine as we watch on in admiration of what is going on. Lucas approaches Selena slowly and he looks behind him to look at Chase. Chase nods at him and Lucas nods back. I don’t know what that was about, but it must have been something encouraging. “Selena?” Lucas looks like he’s about to throw up, as Selena turns around and looks at him. “Lucas! Hi.” Lucas
Wow. Chase has sent me the most beautiful arrangement of Calla Lilies I have ever seen. All just to wish me luck on my first day at work. Wow. That is my romantic moment without him even being here to see my reaction or even trying to impress me. Walking into the back with the flowers Jen whistles at them and then looks at me. “Wow, they are beautiful do you know who sent them?” I look at Jen with a huge smile on my face. “Chase sent them.” Jen gasps. “What! No way would Chase have sent them. They are too gorgeous to be sent by my brother.” I give Jen the card so she can read it herself and her jaw drops. “Damn, I have to give him more credit these are beautiful.” I couldn’t agree more with her if only I had his number, I could text him to say thank you. The rest of my shift flew by. I never thought my first day would be this much fun and so eventful. Lucas coming in and asking Selena out on a date. From what she told me is going to be tonight and she wants me and Jen to go aro

Chase P.O.VFour years later Well, it’s been four amazing years in San Fransisco. Savannah and I graduated college last week. I got a degree in Business and in Finance, where Savannah got one in English Literature and in Music. Where I double majored in college Savannah had a major in English but a minor in music. We both graduated with high honors. The world is now our oyster. But before we can even think about anything to do with the world and how we wish to change it I am back at the office wanting to speak to Savannah’s father. It is now time we had that discussion I said I planned to have with him back when we were seniors in high school. Fuck that feels like forever ago. I told her father on the night of the Christmasqurade ball that one day I will come to him to ask for his daughter’s hand in marriage and today is that day. I have arranged for a meeting with Mr. Blakemore to take place in the company’s board room and I asked my dad to be present during this meeting. I plan fo
It has been a couple of weeks since prom and the big day is approaching quickly. Today we get our yearbooks and get them signed before graduation day that is this Saturday. It’s hard to believe this is our final week in high school. It feels like today is still my first day of school but it’s actually almost my last. Not paying attention to where I was going or who was around me with my yearbook in hand I collide into a big, solid mass of a person knocking my books, my yearbook, and some odd bits of paper all over the floor. Bending down to pick everything up, still not paying attention to who I bumped into, on instinct I do apologize to the person as I start picking up my things. I see the person I bumped into bend down and starts to help me with picking up my things and holds out my English book and my notes to hand back to me. I can’t believe I’ve done this again. “You may need these sweetheart,” Hang on a minute? Did I just? Looking up I see Chase smiling at me as he holds my stuf
We all climb out of the limo and the guys are all holding our arms and escorts us up into the building. Two doormen kindly open the door for us and welcome us to the Crystal Palace and to enjoy our evening. First stop for us as Chase and Lucas recommended is to get our pictures done first so then that way, we don’t look too red faced or sweaty. That is actually not a bad idea if you think about it. We get a bunch of pictures took, we had solo pictures, the six of us together, just the girls, just the guys, and with our dates. I can’t wait to see how the pictures come out because I will be getting a copy of every single one. Entering into the ballroom of the palace we can hear the DJ playing ‘Just Dance’ by Lady Gaga. We walked around couples and across the dancefloor to the only table that is free for us to claim. The girls and I put our purses on the table and hit the dance floor with how good the music is sounding. After a couple of songs, the guys joined us on the dance floor alre
After clipping my bow into place, I have one final look at myself in my bathroom mirror before I step out and show the girls. Walking to the door, putting my hand on the handle I close my eyes, take a deep breath, and open the bathroom door. On the other side of the door, I see Jen and Selena with their phones taking my picture and recording me as I walk out. Putting a huge smile on my face I walk out the bathroom giving the girls a twirl and a cute little princess curtsey I have seen Princess Catherine do before. The girls laugh and comment how incredible I look, and Jen commented on the bow. “How big did you want that thing? Fuck Sav that’s the biggest ass bow I have ever seen stuck on anybody’s ass.” We laugh at her comment as I walk over to my vanity. Sitting down on my stool I put in a pair of my mom’s diamond and pearl drop earrings and her snowflake necklace again. Wearing this necklace makes everything feel like it’s turned in a full circle. Finding out Chase was Wolf behind
Three weeks later Tonight is prom night. The night all the senior girls look forward to the most. Don’t ask me about the guys some look forward to it for other reasons than what it means. The girls and I are getting ready together. We all booked to get our hair and makeup done at a salon today for tonight. We are sat in the chairs getting pampered away, a treat from Selena’s Abuela, as she said no Nieta of hers will not go to prom without having a beauty day at the salon. We all chose to have a French manicure and pedicure, to keep it simple. We also showed our makeup artists pictures of our dresses so they could do our makeup to match our dresses. Jen’s hair shaped her face beautifully. She had a volumized high ponytail with some hair extensions that matched her hair color perfectly with elegant curls and some curls framing her face. To finish the look off she had this black jeweled crystal hair clip she slid into the top part of the ponytail. Jen’s makeup made her look much older t
Walking into the house I see Dad sat on the stairs with what looks like a photo album in his hand. I shut the door behind me and slowly approach him looking at the sad expression on his face as he stares at a photo in the book. When I got closer, he looked up at me with unshed tears in his eyes. When I asked him if everything was okay, he said that everything was fine and he was just living back in the past, and he showed me the page he was looking at in the photo album. It was Mom and Dad’s high school graduation. It was the picture of Mom with her diploma and then Dad with his diploma and under that was the picture of the two of them together. Dad told me the story about how him and Mom met in high school. Hearing what he said was almost a de ja vu. Mom bumped into Dad as she wasn’t watching where she was going, and Dad bent down to help Mom pick up her things and he said it was like love at first sight. We sat on the stairs for a few more minutes just talking and reliving the good
The school year is flying by. Finals are vastly approaching; concert rehearsals are in full swing and it’s almost time for prom season. Chase has been working hard at school and working harder with football. Right now, he has done all he can to impress the college scouts. We all have been working hard I’ve even seen Jen studying some pre law books and even reading about the LSATS. Selena went to some business seminars to see if that is truly the route she wants to go down after graduation. Lucas has been working just as hard if not harder than Chase with his school work and with football. Greg on the other hand has slacked off a little but he has already confirmed he has a secured place in college already. But which one? I don’t know. College acceptance letters should be coming in the post soon but how long after finals will they arrive? Hopefully not long as I believe they wait for finals and the final grades before sending out the letters. All this pressure can make or break some hi
Lunch in hand, Selena and I start walking to the bleachers when Greg and Lucas catch up to us, and the four of us walk together the rest of the way. Jen and Chase are already sat up in the bleachers as we arrived. Lucas helped Selena up with her food and Chase came down to help with mine and we went and joined Jen and enjoy our lunch together. We joked around and had a good time just as we should do at our age because with this being our senior year we only have a short time together like this before we go our separate ways for college. Speaking of college, we all talked about where we have applied for and where we hope to go. Lucas has had a couple of calls from college scouts and Chase said he has had the same but the one he is hoping to hear from he has not just yet. Jen said she is wanting to do a couple of years in one college and then go to Harvard to study law as that is where she feels more passionate, and she gets to be part of the family business in some way or another.
