SHE IS GONE

Lauren heard the sound of the siren bringing in a wounded person, but she didn't get up, since the emergency ward is not her section. She was still angry about the rejection of her Houston application. She have decided to deposit all her savings to the hospital for her mother's surgery, when suddenly the door to her office flung open again, and Pamela walked in.

This time, she looks like she have been chased by all the animals in the zoo, and though the hospital is very airy, she was sweating.

" Holy Mother of God! Lauren, you won't believe it". She exclaims, trying to catch her breath.

"Calm down, it can't be all that bad? Lauren says, not knowing why her friend is looking like the worst has just happened to her.

"Lucious Mendez and Sydney". She couldn't continue, she stopped half way, holding her heart, as though it had been ripped off.

They are the ones that have been brought in, they were involved in an accident, I am scared they are not going to make it". She cries.

"Hey! Calm down, they will be fine". Lauren have not seen her friend so broken, not even when her boyfriend left her for another lady.

"I need to go to the other section, I need to know what is happening to them". She says, but Lauren pulled her back.

"Calm down girlfriend, you know we are not allowed to go there, unless it is a case that is related to us".

"I am going there! She says and left, even before she could say a word to her, she just watch her leave.

Pamela walked into the ward with all the security surrounding the area. Her badge says Psychiatrist section, yet no one stopped her, she is still a staff, and she might need something from their section.

She met one of the doctors, whom she asked.

"How is the situation with him?

"He is going to be fine".

"What about Sydney?

"She lost so much blood, but we are hopeful...... Why all these questions, you are from the psychiatrist section, what are you doing here?

"I am a big fan". She says and the doctor smiles, but didn't give her anymore chance to ask questions, he just walked out on her, while she also went back to her section, before she will be queried for prying.

Sydney was battling with her life, she could feel the flow of blood rushing out of her private area, and her eyes loosing it's color, she tries to open her eyes but all she could see, while she is sure that her eyes are open was total darkness.

"Why is she still bleeding? She heard a nurse ask.

"She was pregnant". She heard the doctor reply, we will have to evacuate what is left of the baby, but we must stabilize her first". She could feel different hands working on her, and so many things happening to her body, all at the same time, but non of them hurt her like when she heard the doctor say, she was pregnant. Using the tense Was, means she is no longer pregnant, it meant she have lost her baby, she wanted to open her eyes and her mouth, but all her body felt numb, she felt paralyzed from head to toe, she couldn't move her body. Finally, she manges to open her mouth.

"I can't feel my legs". She says.

"Don't worry, it is the effect of the drugs on the drip". She was happy she got a reply, which means she is still alive.

"What about my husband? She asked, since her mouth is the only thing working, she decided to use it well.

"He is in another ward, he will be fine. Save your strength Mrs Mendez". The voice of the doctor sounded like he is in a hurry, and though he had told her to save her strength, in order words, telling her to keep quiet, she still wants to know what happened to the baby, for she doesn't want to believe that she is no longer pregnant.

"What about my baby, please save my baby". She cries, but no reply came, they were all quiet, and that was a confirmation that her baby is dead. Their silence gave them away, she didn't need them to say anymore, she has her answer. Reminiscing on how happy Lucious had reacted, when he learnt that she was pregnant, she knew she won't be able to face him, she let out a tear, and though her eyes was closed, her tears still found it way out. It felt like her broken heart started to choke her, she started having difficulty breathing. The doctors started screaming, and calling on each other to bring one thing or the other, trying to save her, but she was too heart broken to even work with them, her mind was not there, she wasn't making effort, she kept crying and her heart kept failing.

It was a miracle that she could be pregnant, she didn't think she would ever carry a child of her own, since she had an internal ailment that wouldn't let her, and when it happened, she killed her own child by herself, just for fun.

She blames herself for the death of the baby. If she had kept her hands at a place and not try to seduce her husband while driving, they would all be alive, heal and hearty.

Soon she started feeling weaker, her breath pace increased, as if she was having an attack, she felt the doctor's hands on her chest, trying not to loose her, but she already felt lost, she couldn't struggle anymore, the pain in her heart was more than all the pains she was feeling all over her body, there was no life on her legs already, and soon, even her mouth couldn't utter a word, and then gradually her heart started dropping too, she was loosing all of her being, she was going gradually, and the statement from one of the personnes confirmed it.

"We are loosing her, harder! That command was pointless, she didn't want to be saved, she wants to die, and so she allowed herself, she gave in to the power of death, calling on her. Her heart stopped breathing, and after she had stopped breathing, the doctor didn't stop trying to bring her back, when he finally stopped, he fell to the side of the bed exhausted.

"She is gone!
