The man on the phone must have heard the loud ugly yet demanding voice of her father because he looked up to her window and their eyes met. Only for a few seconds before her father charges again.

"Cassandra!"

She flew away from the window instantly, hurriedly shutting it and pulling down the blinds as soon as she could. She opened the door before her father could even knock or call her name again.

"I'll be out in a moment" she said then locked the door right in his face not giving him the opportunity to speak further. She is sure he understood that she is mad at him. They were never close to begin with but no, this is the limit. Over the years she thought they would have time to make amends and finally have the father to daughter relationship but he only thought of the possible way to ruin that for her. Marrying her off to an unknown stranger all because of a will. Fortune, money.

She turned to the bed again and the dress, thinking that tonight, she will be meeting her future husband. Is she really ready to have a man she'll wake up to everyday and await his return home every night while she prepares dinner? A man she'll give herself to?  A man she'll warm his bed and meet every of his demands. Will the man she's marrying even love her? Love? She laughed at the word.

She sighed again and picked up the dress. She changed into it unwillingly. The dress fits her perfectly, matching the color of her eyes. By the time she reached the foot of the stairs, everything was not as she expected. Her house has been redecorated. Well she hasn't been down here in awhile but the people… she was expecting a few people not a crowd.

"You should try to smile, My Hastings Princess" Her father said and reached for her as she entered the room with the cacophony of their conversation hitting her. She shifted under the weight of his words, for some other reason she hadn't heard that name in a while. It's always Cassandra.

An echo of laughter broke her from her thoughts and it was there she realised where she was and who was before her. The entirety of the Spencer family. She suddenly feel nauseous as if he was being sold out in slavery or being auctioned off to the highest bidder.

"Be polite and smile" she heard her father mumble behind her. She flashed them a fake smile as her father began the introduction. That was it, she frowned where she ought to smile and wasn't polite where she ought to be. She was raised in lilies and the atmosphere of chasing butterflies in a garden but she wasn't anything like that. She is strong and opposite of whom her father wants her for.

Her father entwined his hand in her and raised it up to show everyone. "Ladies and gentlemen, meet my beloved and precious daughter, Cassandra Olivia Hastings. The heir to the entire Hastings Empire" He introduced.

Cassandra almost laughed in mockery. If she didn't know better she would have believed the love as he pictured it to be as he introduced her by holding hands and watching her like a precious golden egg. In some ways, she is.

She searched the faces of the people before her looking for the possibility of the ones who might be her Future husband. That is what her father is putting her through. But the faces of the people before her are either too young to be who is marrying or too old. No other possibility. And the women, just two of them and she is sure either of them are married to one of the men sitting before her.

After the long and boring introduction she finally was able to escape into the kitchen to grab a cup of water. Finally she had a moment to herself. But this was short lived when she heard her father's voice again.

"Cassandra"

She gently placed the mug back on the kitchen island with a hall filled with water in it.

"Cassandra, come here" her stomach made a sound and she closed her eyes in defeat because she knew that voice is non-negotiable. She made her way to him. He was standing with a man with his back turned to her. Her hands became sweaty because she knew what was about to happen. When she reached her father's side, he reached her arm and gave her a smile but it didn't reach his eyes. It was one of those ones he has been giving her since tonight.

The man beside him turned and she almost made a loud sound. He was the man from earlier, the angry one under her window. She saw the surprise in his face too but it quickly vanished. The man before her is entirely different from earlier now that she's seeing him in the light. Instead of black that she thought he's putting on earlier, he's wearing a navy blue tux. His face is perfectly sculptured like those men she sees In magazines.

"Cassandra, This is Sebastian Spenser, Sebastian, this is Cassandra" Her father introduced.

She inhaled a deep breath of courage as she stepped close to that angle. She could make out the color of his eyes. A deep brown eyes, like the colour of whiskey on ice coupled with thick and dark lashes. He's just a man, she reminded herself. One of the Spencers. Sebastian looks like he's in his early thirties. A warm of recognition ran down her spine as she met his gaze. She felt the urge to avert my eyes and focus on his blue tie instead. The tone of her voice was as polite as she could make it sound.

"It's a pleasure to meet…."

She started to say but he cut her off.

"We met already"

What? What is he playing at? "When did you two meet?" Her father asked, curiosity evident in his voice.Something amused and playful danced on Sebastian's face and before Cassandra could make up a story, Sebastian already spoke."Earlier, while I was on call. Right Cassy?"Cassandra could not believe her ears. First he's claiming to have met her when the only thing they did was to share a glance for the briefest moment. Secondly, he gave her a nickname when they barely met for five minutes. What more is he up to? She ought to be furious but she wasn't. The way her name—nickname rolled off his tongue was more like he is familiar with it. She stared at him in disbelief while he smiled. A dangerous one. Her father made a small laugh, breaking the tension that's starting to gather between the two. "Well, that's good then. I'm glad you met her Sebastian" her father nodded at Sebastian then back at Cassandra."I'll leave you two to talk. I'm sure he has questions for you Cassandra" He pa

PresentCassandra. A wedding ought to be a beautiful thing. A joyous and memorable occasion. Where two souls are joined in holy matrimony. Bonded by laws. To love, to Cherish and obey. In sickness, health and otherwise. The day where two young lovers vowed to spend the rest of their lives together in each other's arms. A percent union of two imperfect people. Like the happily ever after. It is meant to be a loving, intimate, selfless relationship between a man and a woman. If you tell me I'll be getting married three weeks ago, I'll laugh right in your face and call you stupid. Three weeks ago, I never imagined I'd be walking down the aisle or being led to the altar by a complete stranger. A man I met just once. On our engagement day. The very day he threw my ring so carelessly. As soon as I got back inside that night, I ignored everyone and went to bed immediately. I didn't care if my father got angry or that I had an engagement party going on. All I needed was space.Sebastian Spe

I stood at the front of the chapel and inhaled a deep breath. With the help of Isabella, we found our way down here some minutes ago. When my mother boasted that this wedding will be the talk of the town for months I never knew she meant this. Everywhere was decorated and covered in flowers. I had pictured and dreamt of this day ever since I was little and now that's happening I'm dreading it. My father was already waiting by the door, ready to walk me down the altar where my soon to be husband is waiting. "You look absolutely gorgeous in this dress Cassandra, you reminded me of the day your mom and I got married. She also has the same look" He gave me a soft smile. This one is genuine. "Thank you, Father" He leaned forward and pressed a kiss on my head, not lifting the veil."I'm going to miss you Cass. We didn't really get along but let's try to do a better job now that you're getting married. If you are getting uncomfortable there, you can always call me. I'm still your father

The congregation had started to murmur by now and they exchanged puzzled glances. All the photos had stopped by now as they all waited for me to say "I do" but I couldn't."What are you doing, Cassandra!" This is from my mother. She is already on her feet and beside me."The priest is waiting for you to talk. Do you want to keep us waiting already?" She asked in a frightened tone.I looked over her shoulder and to the congregation. They had started to whisper. I looked over at my father and he looked panicked. I couldn't bear looking over at Sebastian.Everyone's waiting for you, Cassandra."I do" I said finally followed by the immediate sound of exhales from people. No going back now.Sebastain gripped my left hand and put the ring on my fingers. I do the same."Any objection to this union?" The priest asked the congregation. There was a resounding silence."Since there's no objections, we can proceed" the priest said after some seconds.".... SEBASTIAN POV"You can't make rash decisions like this, Seb" Dave said."C'mon buddy, it's just for some weeks, pa won't even realize, I'll be gone" I ran my hands through my hairs for what felt like the thousandth time today. It's a thing I do when I'm frustrated, and right now I'm not far from being frustrated. David Brooks, who's been my best friend right from diaper days, chose today, a Monday morning to torment my life. I told him about my plan of leaving work and taking a few months off. I want to go to Africa and your whole place, move to Australia, do everything I like without the impression that grandpa is watching me. God, that man is a pest. He monitors everything I do and that is fucking annoying."Justin, will never allow you and you know that" he said. "He'll surely know," Dave says. He is right though but I don't want to admit that to him."If you keep your fucking mouth shut and stay out of this he won't know" I slammed my fist hard against the table.~~~~~After I had

I shouldn't be surprised but I am, Sebastian's parents are More influential than mine could ever be. He comes From power and deals with power."We are here ma'am" The young driver whose name I'm yet to know says, jolting me out of my thoughts. I looked up to find him out of the car already and he was standing beside me waiting for approval to open the door. I nodded my head slightly and he opened it.I stepped out, feeling the cold weather of New Jersey City hit my face. I closed my eyes and inhaled a deep breath, cheesing the moment for now. This is a new beginning,I reminded myself."This way, Ma'am '' He motioned for me to follow him and I did. Suddenly it felt as though tikes were reversed. I should say something about not want

He didn't say anything but continued to stare at him, his body still blocking the entrance. "I get that you don't want to talk to me so I'll do the talking. One, you don't get to sneak on me whenever I'm bathing as I need privacy. Two, you nod your head sometimes to let me realize you get what I am saying" I paused to check his reaction, but he still had the same. Anger? Resentment? Amusement? I couldn't tell.I curved the third finger. "Three you get to enter my bedroom at my approval. You don't storm in like you own the place. Now, I'll appreciate it if you can excuse me. I need to get changed."Sebastian stood still and for a while I thought he'd gone dumb before he broke out in laughter which quickly faded from his face and then was replaced by the resentment I had seen the night he threw my engagement ring at me and during our wedding."Who could tell my beloved wife can be bossy. Barely three hours of the union already bossing her husband. Such a good and wonderful wife" He says

Taylor's private office was a statement in architectural drama. High ceilings, marble floors, a window that was a wall of glass, in front of which a large slab of gray marble rested on legs of forged steel. As he moved across to it, the pale sunlight of a winter morning shot shards of cold steel through his black hair and added a sharpened cast to his lean dark profile that spoke of his ruthless and cold-hearted personality. Stepping around the edges of the slab of marble, he slammed the newspaper down on its smooth gray top. It unfurled on impact, showing him the inner-page headline that his personal assistant helpfully presented to him. It was Marcus' job to scour the world's newspapers, his job to mark those items he believed would be of interest to the acting head of the Schultz International Company. But Marcus would not be making the same mistake again very quickly, Taylor mused as he glared at the train for all of his anger. His car had run into a lady, causing her a fatal

I stood in the doorway, her heart sinking as she took in the all-too-familiar scene before her. Her mother, Sandra, sat slouched on the couch, a glass of Brandy in her hand, her speech slurred, and her eyes bloodshot. It was a sight that I had witnessed far too many times.Anger welled up within me, mixed with sadness and frustration. She couldn't bear to see her mother like this again, destroying herself with alcohol. Tears streamed down I's face as she rushed towards Sandra, wrapping her arms around her in a desperate attempt to provide comfort."Why, Mom? Why are you doing this to yourself?" I sobbed, my voice filled with anguish. "You can't keep going on like this. It's tearing me apart to see you like this."Sandra's gaze met I's, and for a moment, there was a flicker of remorse in her eyes. She let out a heavy sigh before finally speaking, her voice laced with defeat. "I... I just got fired. I lost my job today. Everything is falling apart, and I don't know what to do."My grip

Soon I was ready to leave for the cinema. I walked over to the garage, trying to choose between the many flashy cars that caught my attention.I finally picked the red one, because it looked much smaller and easy to dive around without getting into clashes with other cars. This time around I drove on my own without having Romeo follow me around. To end this foolish feeling I was starting to develop for him, I needed to stop seeing him around.Later in the night…I was sitting in front of the ornate, antique mirror, its gilded frame reflected the soft glow of the lights. The room was dimly lit, creating an atmosphere of quietness as I carefully removed the layers of makeup that had adorned my face throughout the day.As I delicately wiped away the last traces of foundation, my mind began to wander, pondering the events that had led up to this moment. How did Sebastian manage to enter my sanctuary? I distinctly remembered locking the door before I began my nightly routine. And when did

---In the dimly lit room, I found myself standing, my heart pounding heavily against my ribcage. My eyes moved nervously towards him, desperately seeking answers to the questions that disturbed my mind. His presence alone was enough to send shivers down my spine. The air around us was thick with an unspoken tension, as if the room itself held its breath.Silence enveloped us, stretching the seconds into an eternity. It was in this pregnant pause that I waited for him to break the silence, to explain himself. His eyes, once warm and familiar, now held a glimmer of something foreign, something I couldn't quite fathom. They moved with guilt, regret, and a hint of desperation. **My heart skipped a beat, filled with a mixture of fear and excitement, as the bodyguard swiftly closed the distance between us. It was a moment that sent a surge blood rushing through my veins, making me acutely aware of his imposing presence. His movements were purposeful and calculated, yet there was a tender

"You're back early today"Sebastian has his back turned, typing on his laptop again. I wonder if he ever gets off it.He turned when he noticed my presence in the room."You weren't in when I came in. Hannah said you were out" His voice was calm."I went shopping for things I need""Sarah could do that for you.""No, I wanted to get out… "I've been stuck here doing nothing. He nodded and that was it he went back typing off on his laptop. I couldn't tell him I met Mark, not that he cares or he had a restriction on the people I can meet."Get out and meet people?" He said not looking up from what he was typing.Excuse me? I laughed. "I don't get what you mean by that." I moved away from him and dropped my clutch purse on my dressing table at the other end of the bedroom. Since we now share a bedroom, it's difficult doing things without his prying eyes following me around.Right now, I just want to get away from him and avoid the topic I know is coming."Oh, you will now" from the corne

Mark looked exactly the way I remember him to be. Dirty blonde hairs that fall over his right eyes, just the way I like them to be, deep green eyes, and the tiny dots of freckles over his nose that you'll only notice when you move closer to this.My eyes didn't miss the fact that Mark has gotten leaner. The last time I saw him, I was his girlfriend, kissing him goodbye after getting that call that I should come home from my father. That was before everything changed, before I knew I'm to marry Sebastian Spenser. Now, things have changed. I'm married. I never even got to say goodbye to him, I tried calling and imagined the shock on his face when he saw the news."Mark…" I paused, not knowing what to say. He didn't deserve any of this. I'm too shocked to even tell him that."Cassandra…" he called my name, ever slowly as if he was in pain. He could barely say it out loud. I closed my eyes, sharing in the pain."You looked…. I mean you dress differently now" he says, making me look down at

"What?"He now has a shirt on, not that I noticed but it was just obvious seeing him covering up all those perfect abs. I tried not to think of how it feels against my hands. The few times I have my hands over them I could feel the work of working out every time.I shifted my gaze away from his covered shirt to face him, he smirked when our gaze met. I noticed he now has his glasses off. Pity, I guess no one has told him how sexy he looks in those."What are you still doing?" I asked, walking around the bed."I just asked you that question," he said."Ohhh, I didn't…." I paused.Sorry I was busy checking you out and didn't realize you asked me a question. Part of me is glad he is trying to communicate and not ignore my presence in the room."So, what are you still doing?" He asked again.I wanted to lie, I had a dream and I couldn't sleep, my stomach hurts so … but I opted for the truth."I couldn't sleep. I woke up and saw you and…."
