Raquel’s POV
"Hey, what the hell happened here?" Claire stated
"What the hell?!" I yelled startled at her.
"Sorry. Are you okay?" Claire started laughing at me. “You looked like you’ve seen a ghost. You look awful by the way.”
"I was so consumed with writing that I didn't realize you guys were here." I smiled seeing Claire with her boyfriend, James. "Hey, James."
"Hey, darling. Are we expecting another best seller?" James teased me.
"Looks like you are in need of a shower. When the hell was the last time you even did that?" Claire glared at me.
"I have no idea. And as I was saying I was too focused on my book that I might have zoned out and forgotten time." I replied.
"You do realize that that is not healthy. Your place is a mess. You should fix yourself and I'll call a housekeeper to clean up." Claire offered,
"You don't have to. I am going to call my housekeeper later. Besides, I am actually stuck on how to end my book so I don't want anyone touching my notes." I admitted. “Everything is right where I need them to be.
"Well, you always end your stories with the leads ending up together." James pointed out. “What is so difficult with this ending?”
"I know. I just want to do something different with this book. What if the ending would be different compared with my other novels? I am thinking of giving the readers the choice of how the story ends. Like ending it with a total cliffhanger."
"Well, you are the writer you can do whatever you want. But if this novel ends similarly with your first book that raise all kind of interest then you are on the right track. I mean, I am your agent and I would say that would that would increase your audience and fan base. However, you should really consider getting an editor to help you if you feel stuck." Claire replied.
"I worked with editors for my first three books and you know that I rather do things on my own after just arguing with them." I admitted.
"Well, get ready and let's eat out. Don't tell me that you have been here since the press conference?" Claire looked at me frustrated.
"You know me to well." I replied laughing. "I am just going to shower and please don't touch my notes."
I am an old soul despite having my laptop to type my stories I still have my notebooks where I write my drafts and also my journal. So my living room has scattered papers on the floor, table and sofa. I went out with Claire and James and we went to the restaurant we regularly go to.
"Are you really serious to have this novel be your last?" Claire asked as we were eating.
"I want to try a different genre. I mean, I am a romance novelist and I want to be more than that. I did study to be a writer and I want to write something else."
"What are you planning to be a journalist or something?"
"I don't know yet but I want to branch out. I am thinking of considering my writing methods and be known for more than just writing cheesy romance novels."
"Well, not all of them were cheesy. Some were very dramatic and it shows love conquers all." Claire smiled sweetly.
"Does it? I am having doubts regarding that." I replied.
"You need to go on a blind date with my buddy. He was my roommate back in law school and he is moving back here. He can use someone to be with."
"James, I hate blind dates and if he is such a great guy why is he still single?"
"For someone who writes about love you are so fucking stubborn. You need a boyfriend or even just fucking get laid. How can you write graphically vivid sex scenes when you aren't getting any?" Claire pointed out.
"Porn..." I replied seriously. "It's can easily be accessed."
"You need someone to make you happy, someone who makes you special." Claire insisted.
"You already do that. I am just not interested to meet someone right now. I am all good for now. I don’t need a boyfriend to complicate my life."
"Fine. Anyways, let’s talk about business. I have the list of the publications we can check and we can visit them tomorrow. I already set up the meetings."
"Great."
"I also drafted the NDA for the publication that you'll choose. I mean, they would have to agree that they keep your real identity a secret which is really stupid. Don't you want the world to know that it's you Raquel. That you are Cassandra Ellis the bestselling author."
"James, thank you. I hope that everything would turn out well tomorrow. I need this final book published soon." I smiled at him sweetly.
"Well, you need to make up your mind about the ending then." Claire reminded. "I don't think any publications would like to print an unfinished book."
"I already have the idea of what I can do. I just need a little push. A little motivation as per say." I exclaimed and we all laughed.
I spend the entire afternoon cleaning up the mess in my living room. I can call someone to clean up but I wanted to keep myself busy. I was stuck in reminiscing my life with Sacha. He was gone for several days after we first had sex. I remembered trying to be positive the first few days but on the fourth day he was gone I found myself crying myself to sleep. I blamed myself for being inexperienced that might have drove him away. I remembered that he gave me pleasure and perhaps I didn't give him pleasure. Maybe I suck in bed. I was really upset and I didn't have the same drive in me. I felt lazy going to school and going to my part time job. I felt lost without him.
"Honey, are you okay? You seem off lately." My mom asked.
"Just have a lot of stuff to do at school. It's our graduation in a few weeks so I have so many projects and papers to submit."
"I see don't stress yourself too much. By the way I haven't been seeing Sacha for a week now. Did he tell you anything? I wanted to talk to him but I couldn't get in touch with him." My mom stated.
"I don't know. I haven't seen him as well." I replied. "Maybe he is just busy."
"Probably. I found someone who can help him look for a house. He said he wanted to buy a house."
"Oh, so he plans to leave." I tried to ask surprise even though I already knew his plans.
"Yes, but he said he wanted somewhere close. I am going to miss him. He is such a nice guy." My mom said as she was getting ready to leave. "Get the door honey." She ordered when we heard a knock.
"Oh, it's you." I stared at Sacha when I saw him after I opened the door.
"Hey, kid, I hope I am not interrupting anything. I just got back and I need my keys." He replied.
"Your keys?" I glared at him.
"Who is it honey?" My mom asked.
"Hello, Margie." Sacha walked past me and entered our apartment. "I missed you. I had to be out of town for work and things got a bit out of hand. We partied more than we should." He laughed with my mom while they were in a tight embrace.
"I found a realtor who can help you with finding a new house. I can give you her number or would you like me to give your number to her?" My mom responded.
"Whatever is easier for you. I am really beat. I have just got back from the very exhausting party week of my life." He said smiling.
"I have to go. Honey, why don't you give Sacha something to eat or drink. He looks like he can use it."
"Sure, thing mom." She kissed me before heading out.
Raquel’s POV “Would you like something to eat or drink?” I asked. “I just need my keys kid." "Right, your keys." I replied, completely pissed at him. "I am really exhausted and I need my keys to get in my apartment." He replied. "Of course, I remember you asking me to lock your place after you fuck me. Oh no, I'm sorry. You ask me to stay as much as I need to after you handed me cash after fucking me." I yelled at him angrily. "Shit, how can I forget that you left me in bed after you fuck me and then you pack your things up after washing off my scent from you after you..." "After I fuck you." He cut me off before I could finish my ranting. "Listen, I know that we fucked. I was fucking there." "Whatever, let me get your keys so you can leave me alone and just let me get use to the fact that you don't like me. That you will be leaving and I shouldn't give a shit about you." I stated angrily. "Calm down. I'm sorry. I had no idea why I did all those things." "I get it you regre
Raquel’s POV "What happened between us should have not happen." He started. "It was inappropriate and I should have not taken advantage of you." "I get it. You don't have to feel sorry about it. I wanted it. If you are feeling guilty about it, you don't have to." I replied honestly. "If you regret it, I understand. Just stop trying to ruin it for me because for me it was special. I felt special and I loved every single minute of it." "I said it should have not happened. I didn't say I regret it." He held my hands and stared at my eyes. "What are you saying?" "I don't have any idea what I should do. I mean, I like you but people might think that I am just using you." "I am not a minor. I am turning eighteen in a few weeks and my mom would never see you as someone taking advantage of me. Besides, she likes you." "Well, she does but I don't think that she'll continue to like me once she finds out that we had sex." He pointed out. "We don't have to tell her. I don't think that my
Raquel’s POVI was hesitant to leave but Sacha looked at me signaled me to go. I was phasing back and forth in our living room while I waited for mom to come home. I wanted to eavesdrop but a part of me didn't want to know what they will be talking about. I wasn't hearing any loud voices so I hoped that it was a good sign. After more than an hour my mom opened the door and I embraced her."I'm sorry mom. It was my idea to keep it from you and I was the one who jumped him. He didn't take advantage of me. This is all my fault.""Listen, you're young and you are going to make lots of decisions in the future. I don't want you throwing all your potential by getting pregnant like me at a young age. I don't regret having you but I am just thinking what is best for you." "Mom, did you ask Sacha to stop seeing me?" I asked sadly."He told me he was serious with you and that he loves you. I am not going to stop you two from being together. I am not doing that but you have to promise me that yo
Raquel’s POVI can see that mom and Sacha was in a serious conversation. I just realized looking at them that Sacha never told me about his family ever. I had no idea where his from and if he has any relatives. I think my mom knew more about that side of him than me. It just didn't come up I guess. Two years of living with him and I had no idea. I know a lot about him but he never once mentioned about his family. He did mention that we would talk about it so I should just wait. I was never the type to pressure someone in doing something they don't want. I don't really care much about things that people don't want to tell me. If it doesn't involve me I don't really care much about it. Let’s just say that I am more focused on myself than others. We were heading back to the house when we heard gunshots. Then I saw my mother suddenly collapsed on the ground. Everything happened so fast. All I can remember was seeing blood. I can only hear the loud siren from the ambulance. I had no idea
Raquel’s POVClaire and I spent the morning talking to the three publishing companies. It was okay and their proposals were certainly impressive. Their promise to protect my work was really convincing. We were eating lunch before heading to the last two publication companies."Are you okay? You seem more quiet than usual.""It's my mom's death anniversary soon and I just miss her." I replied sadly."You want to talk about it.""No, I just want to get this over with. The sooner I have this book published the better." I exclaimed."So you already have an ending?" Claire looked at me intrigued."Oh, I have better. I actually have three possible endings and I just need to figure out which one to publish." I replied proudly."You wrote three endings?" She looked at me surprised."I couldn't sleep last night and I was reminiscing and I ended up writing.""Wow, I wish I was as creative
Raquel’s POV"Hi, Claire." I greeted her but she just ignored me. "I'm sorry about what happened yesterday. Something just upset me.""You acted so unprofessional and do you have any idea how that backfires on me. I am your agent. If you were not up to those meetings, then you could have just told me." She replied pissed at me."I'm sorry. I hope that we can still go over toClarkson & Vera Publications and I can personally apologize to them for my attitude. I can explain what happened to them.""It's fine. I already talked to them. I made up an excuse that you were researching a new character for a new book and you needed to act like that to be able to relate to the emotion of your characters.""You lied to them for me. You didn’t have to do that.""Oh, honey I did it to save myself. What the fuck was that anyway?""I just missed my mom." I lied."I get it but that
Raquel’s POV "What the hell was that all about? Were you really serious about letting Ms. Morgan seeing the first part of your book. You don't like anybody reading your books until they are finished." Claire pointed out as we were heading to her office. "She's an editor and I can use her opinion."I replied. "Is it her your trying to work with or Mr. Clarkson? I can see the way you've been looking at him. Are you attracted to him?"She asked seriously. "Wow, Claire just because you are getting married you can't just interpret my actions towards everybody as an attraction. Last time it was me attracted with Ms. Morgan and now Mr. Clarkson..."I pointed out. "You don't normally act this way. When was the last time you tried bribing someone? You don't just give away gifts to someone you just met." "Claire, I have a good feeling with working with Clarkson & Vera Publications." "Fine. I have other
Raquel’s POV “I am so excited to be working with you.” Stephanie squealed and hugged me tightly when I opened the door for them. "This is going to be interesting." I replied. "Please, come in and make yourselves at home." "Thank you. I just dropped off Stephanie. I should get going. I'll just pick her up later." Samuel stated. "Babe, do you really have to go?" Stephanie asked Samuel. "Baby, you know that I'd rather be with you every single minute of the day but you and Ms. Peterson have work to do." He stated sweetly. "Please stay. I just want to get to know her more and give her some of the drafts that I have been working with. We aren't going to be doing any work here. And please, call me Raquel." I butted in. "I'll grab some snacks." "So how long have you been writing?" Stephanie asked. "Professionally, I had my first book published when I was twenty but I have been journaling since I was twelv
Raquel's POV Rustin is a man full of surprises. Our wedding ceremony was perfect. I never thought he would carry me down the aisle instead of letting me walk. When I saw him waiting for me at the altar I was blown away. Everything that we've been through flashed before me. The man I love is right here. He is waiting for me and I can't wait to be next to him. The tradition that we can't see each other the day before the wedding added excitement. It felt like I haven't seen him in forever. I was so surprised when he ran to me and embraced me tightly when I made it to the middle of the aisle. Then he carried me to the altar when Claudette suggested I should go back to the end of the aisle to redo my wedding march.I think it was perfect. It was unexpected like Rustin. He swept me off my feet literally. After our wedding, we went on our honeymoon. Claire volunteered to take care of our kids while we were gone. We went to Maldives
Rustin's POV After the ceremony, we had pictures taken and received best wishes and congratulations from guests. Raquel and I changed outfits before we joined everyone for the reception. It would be hard for her to move around with her wedding gown. We got to the reception and everyone welcomed us with cheering. "We should go and apologize toClaudette." I whispered to Raquel. "You should apologize to her. She still looks pissed at you." Raquel replied. "You should come with me. She might kill me if I approach her alone." I stated playfully. "Let's go." She smiled at me. "Hey guys." Raquel greeted them as we approached them. "Congratulations." Claudette smiled at Raquel. "I'm sorry." I tried to embrace Claudette but she moved away from me. "Come on. I couldn't help it." "You ruined the wedding march. The wedding dress was a mess the entire ceremony." She replied pissed.
Rustin's POVTime flies when you are happy. We've been together for seven years and there is nothing that I would regret. I decided that it's time for us to have a grand wedding. They say that every relationship goes through the seven-year itch. We our beating the odds because we will renew our vows this year.We decided to have our wedding at the resort. Theo and Claudette were no longer managing. After Theo's accident they move to New York permanently. They are both working for the company. Claudette is working for me directly as my assistant. They moved to a house closer to our place so our children can grow up closely with each other."We have how many guests?""Don't worry about it." I replied. "Raquel, all you need to worry about is looking beautiful when you walk down the aisle.""Rustin, it's our wedding and I barely know anyone from the guest list." She complained."We can't not invite them. We'll have t
Rustin's POV Life is full of unexpected things. The most unexpected that happened to me is Raquel. Theo was able to walk again but he need a walking stick. He and Claudette remained together. Claire was finally welcomed by James parents to their family. Stephanie finally published her own novel and it became a hit. She and Samuel had twins, a girl and a boy. They visit regularly and our children have play dates. I know that I can overcome everything that life throws at me as long as I have Raquel by my side. She is all that I need. Our family is what make me complete. I continue to run the company business and Raquel a stay home mom. She write blogs now and has stopped publishing. Raquel is due to give birth next month and I didn't want her exhausting herself. I told her we can just stay home but she insisted that we have to attend the company's foundation day gala. "If you feel tired tell me so we can head home." I stated as we arrived
Raquel's POV We talked about other things until lunch was ready. We were eating lunch when I suddenly felt nauseous. I immediately went to the comfort room and started throwing up. "Are you okay?" Rustin asked me worriedly. "I don't feel so good." "I'm taking you to the hospital." He stated when I kept throwing up. "I just need to rest." I replied after I washed up. "Is everything okay?" Claire asked. "I'm taking her to the hospital." Rustin replied. "Don't be ridiculous. I just throw up. I just need to lie down." I replied. "Raquel, baby. You're making me worried. You haven't been eating the past few days and now your throwing up." Rustin stated. "I'm fine." I replied. "Are you pregnant?" James asked. "What?" I glared at him. "Claire was like that when she was pregnant." James replied. "No. I can't be.
Raquel's POVI was so relieved after the lawsuit against the company was dropped. The legal team was able to prove that the plane crash was not due to the company's negligence. Rustin and I worked things out. My conscience was killing me that I got them in trouble because of the money I gave Julie so I tried to stay away from him. I stayed with Charlie and avoided any discussion about Julie. It was stupid of me but Rustin made me realize that we are a team and things are easier when we can share our burden with someone. We got closer during this time. I mean, intimately closer. We make love every single day. Everything was falling back into place and Julie was gone. Rumors about him and Rustin stopped. I invited Claire, James, Stephanie and Samuel to have lunch at our place with Claudette and her family who were staying with us. Stephanie showed us a video that Julie uploaded and it had me riled up."Calm down, baby. You need to relax." Ru
Rustin's POV "Raquel, are you okay?" Stephanie asked. "Tell me that you didn't sleep with her." Raquel looked at me sadly. "I swear I did not. I told you guys about her showing up in my hotel suite half naked. I have no idea how she accessed my suite or how she took videos of me. She obviously just inserted herself in the video." "Fix this. I need you to clear this up. I don't care what the fuck you do or who you pay I want that video taken off." Raquel stated angrily as she was crying. "I'll take care of it." James stated. "This will be taken down in an hour." "Thank you." I replied. "Calm down, baby. You need to relax." I let Raquel sit down since she was furious. "Do you want us to get you anything?" Claudette asked worriedly. "Deep breathes." Claire stated as she gave her a glass of water. "Should I call the doctor? She looks like she's about to faint." Stephanie aske
Rustin's POVThings weren't easy for us. We moved to our house away from the public. Raquel was starting to be distant. She stays at Charlie room most evenings. Claudette together with the kids stayed with us. I needed this to be over so we can go back the way things were."Hey, are you okay?" Claudette asked when she saw me sitting alone at the poolside."I can't believe Julie is doing this.""It should be over soon. The legal team are getting all the evidence needed and the lawsuit will be behind us." She stated."I don't really care about that. I'm more worried that my wife doesn’t seem to trust me anymore. I feel like I'm losing her." I admitted."She's processing everything that is happening. If I was in her position, I will leave you in a heartbeat. I'll take my child and move out of the state.""You're not helping.""I'm just stating my opinion. She hasn't left so you haven't lost
Rustin's POV It's the first time that we are taking care of Charlie all by ourselves. We enjoyed every minute of it. Raquel didn't even try to write anything which was the first. She always has to work on something to keep her insane as she said. "Are you two working in baby number two?" Claudette asked. "Are you asking about our sex life?" I replied playfully. "You are such a pervert." Raquel glared at me. "I'm not sure we can handle another baby for now. This little angel is all I need." "Really. I have news regarding our adaption." Claudette replied. "We're getting three kids. They're siblings." "You do realize that you cannot return them when it became difficult to take care of them." I blurted out. "Why would I return them? You know I can't have a child of my own. I just fell in love with them when I met them." Claudette replied. "I was kidding. When will they get here?" I asked.&
