Kiara was, to put it in simple terms, dodging Chris. She did not want to go to his apartment, so during the following weeks, she craftily made him believe she was too busy. Luckily for her, his work actually seemed to be chaotic during that period. He had no idea how flexible her schedule was, but she wasn’t about to tell him she spent his only available hours binge-watching Netflix.

Sooner than she expected, the Wednesday before Thanksgiving was there, and she saw herself preparing a small bag of clothes for the trip. A quick call to Michael was enough to clear her performances for the long weekend and she was ready to go.

Kiara was not one to panic, so she didn't. Instead, she appointed Batman as her therapy dog during the flight. She was not completely new to flying, but private jets were way out of her league and it was throwing her off a bit. There was some comfort in knowing you will die with a bunch of other people on a commercial flight if something goes wrong. Flying private didn't give her that. Chris told her it would be just the two of them because his parents decided to fly earlier. He didn't get into the details, but she understood it had something to do with flying with the dog. Go figure. Either way, the flight was only three hours long and she could handle herself.

  • A Word of Praise   Nineteen

The nerve that girl had was simply out of this world. She might be right about him holding her arm, and Chris got the message, but talking about his parents was a step too far. It was just a fucking car door; he didn't ask her to walk two feet behind him or whatever. Chris held her judgmental stare for a bit longer, until she looked down and… bowed? Fucking hell, she was choosing to get into a damsel character now. To make it worse, he knew his mother was spying through the window and would be actually pleased with the gesture. For a brief second, he considered why he was going through such lengths to get his parents to like her. Trut

“You didn’t tell me there was a dress code” Her voice had a strain that wasn’t there before, and it was all his fault for just seconds ago coming out of the bathroom practically in his birth suit. Fucking tease.“I told you to dress nice”“I think our concepts of nice are different” She assessed his three-piece suit with a judgmental look. When he stripped down after the flight she thought he’d lighten up the work clothes, but he put on an even fancier dress shirt and blazer.

“Wait, you are an orphan?” Chris was stunned and didn't want to say something so harsh. But it came out anyway and he had to wait until she chewed on a piece of poultry for a whole minute of awkward silence. “People are not orphans after they turn 18, Chris”“You didn't know your girlfriend's parents passed, Christopher?” His mother chastised, but Kiara spoke before he could.“I didn't tell him. The subject n

  • A Word of Praise   Twenty-Two

Kiara felt better after their talk in the morning. The night ended on a bad note and she just hoped he hadn’t read much into her while she pretended to sleep. Her shower did little to soothe the rise of emotions she didn’t want to feel, but at least sleep did what the water couldn’t. She was actually excited about the day.Chris indeed bought her clothes for the Thanksgiving celebrations. Or rather, had someone else buy it, because the sense of fashion of the chosen outfits was simply too accurate to be his own. The man knew only business formal and full black-tie, for fucks sake. Since the day was divided into two fairly different events, he got her two sets of clothes appropriate for each occasion. She h

Kiara was dumbstruck in the worst possible way. Did he really cave just like that? From what she gathered from the previous conversation, this was a project Chris invested a great amount of time and money on. He spoke of it with such conviction and pride that she thought it was his masterpiece within the company. If she was in a similar situation, she’d probably tell his father to fuck off right away. Of course, that was not possible in corporate business but still, there were diplomatic strategies that could be used to convey th

  • A Word of Praise   Twenty-Four

Chris was glad Kiara made herself scarce for the rest of the afternoon. He was not in the mood to face the know-it-all expression she was sporting when in fact she knew shit about him and his life. He knew she had a strong personality from the beginning, but he didn’t imagine the amount of stress she’d put him through. The reasons for choosing her as his fake girlfriend were getting blurred in his mind. Sure, she was hot enough for his parents to believe he’d date her and yet sufficiently different for them to see the breakup as inevitable. It would be a perfect situation if she were just a tiny bit more cooperative.

  • A Word of Praise   Twenty-Five

Kiara was out of the room by the time Chris left the bathroom, and he wondered where she might have gone without him. She knew they were supposed to arrive together at the party and hoped she didn’t spoil his mother’s entrance plans by getting down to the main floor too early. He was fixing his hair when he heard the door opening, and almost choked on thin air when he saw her. Why dear God would allow that vision from heaven to be standing in front of him was beyond his comprehension. He had literally jerked off to her almost naked body not half an hour before, now he was just as willing to do it again to that fully dressed image in front of him.

  • A Word of Praise   Fifty-Seven

Kiara opened her eyes and tried to remember where she was. The heavy blanket and soft pillow didn’t match the ones she had at home, and the big man holding her close was definitely not something she woke up to often. “Morning,” Chris said in a voice too awaken to match her lazy mood. “Morning. Have you been up long?” She turned to face him, stifling a yawn.“Not too long.” Definitely a while, then. Had he be

Chris unwillingly left her in bed to get the condom from his bag. He was not thinking about it earlier, but after almost shooting deep inside her in the shower, his memory was jogged up. He reached for the package, but his hand found the small box he had placed back there earlier, and he smiled. Maybe… later. He watched her laying in bed, wet and open for him. She was a fucking goddess, and he couldn’t understand how he could be so lucky.“I’ll have to finish without you if you just stand there. I don’t mind the audience.” She motioned to touch hersel

Kiara was still feeling the thrill of a responsive crowd when she kissed him, but she did not regret it one bit. It was past time she gave into him – again. She didn’t have it in herself to fight it any longer, and as soon as she made up her mind, it was as if a switch had flipped. Now she fucking needed him. Chris was not one to lose time, so as soon as she asked for it, his lips were already pressed on hers and her body was crashing against the bathroom wall. Her hands explored his perfectly cut hair, and she hoped she’d mess it beyond return. He deserved a little c

  • A Word of Praise   Fifty-Four

She was so incredibly precious. Chris couldn’t quite understand how a person could go through that and come out so beautiful on the other side. He didn’t expect her to tell him about it, not like that. But he understood her better now. If hating rich people was the only outcome of that disturbing past, he’d more than welcome it. Damn, he’d get rid of his own money if that’s what it took. But he knew it wasn’t. She was scarred, more so than he could ever have been, even with his few shitty events in the past. And still, she was the most amazing person he had ever met.

Kiara turned around to see her favorite face holding a smirk. “What are you doing here?” She asked in a mix of surprise and embarrassment. Nobody was supposed to have seen her little theft.“It’s Saturday,” he stated, as if it was obvious he’d track her down after she said she’d be unavailable. “It is, but I don’t see Batman.” She arched a brow. His smirk turned into a full-blown laugh, and

Sales conventions were one of Kiara’s favorite kind of events. The organizers always had some sort of crazy briefing for her, that matched the company’s goal for the year. She often found herself having to portrait ‘double-digit growth’ or ‘increase market share’ in a three-minute silks routine. In sum, she was paid exorbitant amounts of money to perform whatever the hell she liked. It’s not as if the people who hired her would be able to tell if she explored the theme they gave her anyway. Even so, she liked to try to pass on the message. It was an artistic challenge, and more often than not, she ended up with a fast as hell routine and a smile plastered on her face.

  • A Word of Praise   Fifty-One

Two months had come and gone, and Chris knew he was on the right track. He didn’t fail his promise to see her every Saturday, no matter how poorly it fit the rest of his commitments. The weekend after Christmas was particularly hard because he had to leave in the middle of the company’s Christmas party. It was worth it; he earned an eye-roll coated with an adorable attempt not to smile when he explained his delay. Every Saturday was the same, he’d get to her building, buzz her down, and they’d walk around the block talking and pampering Batman. He’d talk about work, and the restructuring of the company. She’d shoot sarcastic remarks about the

  • A Word of Praise   Fifty

Kiara woke up Monday morning with the emotional hangover of the century. She was tired of not being able to do anything, so she decided to go to practice anyway, even with her hands out of commission. If she couldn’t do what she wanted in Chris’ department, she’d at least work her frustration out with a sick series of abs and legs. When she got to the studio, she ran into Michael’s glowing figure. Literally. The man was covered in glitter from head to toe, and it was fucking Monday.“What the hell did you do last night?” She asked in disbelief.
