Because I was the only one operating the entire boat, my wolf find it hard to get way to the right current. But since we are not in a hurry to reach Chicago, I parked the boat in the middle of nowhere for a few minutes to get us some food before the sun goes down.

Good thing the water was at low tide when Justine also jumped out of the water and joined me in catching some fish. Our house was built nearby the sea. Papa also taught Justine how to catch fish and other seafood to survive in case of a food shortage on the island.

After getting some fish and other sea foods, we hopped back to the boat and grilled our caught fish. Later that evening, I let Justine have his sleep beside me while we continued our journey to Chicago.

My wolf doesn't know if we are aiming for the right current heading to Chicago when all I could see were those bright stars in the sky. I'm not even sure how many days we could reach the place Justine requested where we could start a new life.

After almost a week of floating on the surface of the wide blue ocean, Justine and I finally stepped onto the surface of the land. I immediately gathered everything we need to bring, especially those that will lead to our existence. Justine was helping me carry some of our important belongings such as those human clothes Nathalie bought for him. I made sure to bring our human clothes so people will not get suspicious of us. Then, we began trekking away from the main road to make sure no humans could see us. But the first thing my wolf noticed as soon as we stepped onto the place was the different smell and warmth of the place compared to New York. "Where are we going to stay, brother Josh?" Justine asked while tightly holding my hand. "I still don't know, baby. But in the meantime, we will stay temporarily in the woods, okay? Brother Josh still needs to be familiar with the place. And besides, we know no one in this place yet. Are you okay with that?" Being th

"What are you three doing here? And why is that man with you two?" The sharpness of my gaze toward Nathaniel surprised Jasper and Malia before they all hopped out of the elevator. As far as my wolf could remember, I did not invite any of them, specifically Nathaniel, to come over on the same day that I have to be out for three days. The worst part is that the three of them were carrying their respective travel bags behind their backs. "I invited Nathaniel to join us in your journey to the island. At least, with him by our sides, Malia and I could feel safer. He's good in any kind of battle, right?" Jasper was referring to the battle between claws and fangs since I already told him about Nathaniel being a werewolf. "And I did not invite you to come with me, right?" I debated with Jasper. Don't know how he knew that I moved the scheduled date heading to the island. "Nonetheless, I never asked you to invite Nathaniel to come over." "Wait," Malia exclaimed with a weir

"Better save that questions, later on, Nathalie. I am seeing a house now." Nathaniel interrupted our question-and-answer session with Malia. Of course, he doesn't care about her and Jasper. But he was right. Indeed we are seeing someone's roof already. And the ambiance of the place was similar to Joshua's place. When we reached Joshua's house, could not help but feel confused when none was occupying inside that late. Even if I already enhanced my werewolf senses, I still, could barely trace anyone's scents. Not even his Justine. Malia suddenly slid closer to the door and knocked a few times. But no one opens the door for us. That makes me wonder where are they right now when the last time I was here, they always stayed in the house as early as before six. But the time was already ten in the evening. "Hello? Is anyone in the house? Joshua, are you there honey?" Malia recklessly yelled in front of the house. And her voice has caused continuous vibration throughout the pl

"Lady Nathalie, what are you doing on the island this late? And why did you bring a human and another wolf with you?" one of them asked. "It's a long story, but, could you guys lead us to Alpha Marcos' place? They're with me. Don't worry, I'll explain everything to him." I nodded to Jasper to head out of the house. To make sure nothing bad will happen to Jasper and Malia, Nathaniel led the way to the doorway. The werewolves started growling again as soon as they all stepped out but that was the only thing they did. "With all due respect, Lady Nathalie, but a lot of things happened on the island since you left. One to mention that Alpha Marcos strictly ordered that when new faces came to the island, allies or not, should be...," before the wolf could finish his sentence, he nodded to the wolves behind us and fastened our hands with chains like prisoners. Nathaniel and Jasper tried to fight back, avoiding getting fastened by those chains, but I ordered them not to do

My words were not just referring to the rogues but the incident that happened to me and my car in the middle of the road. Nathaniel and I have done our research about the same incident that happened four hundred years ago. Something big is coming as mum referred to it. And I don't know if Marcos and his packs were a hundred percent ready when that happens. Nonetheless, their safety was no longer part of my list to worry about. Joshua was already considered one of their enemies. A friend of Joshua is also considered a friend of my werewolf pack. Contrary to that, the enemies of my friends were also our enemies. Needless to say, he did nothing to the werewolves on the island but good. Yet, even their alpha did not appreciate it. Fifteen minutes later, the four of us trekked back to the seashore where we parked the boat. All of them, especially Nathaniel, was completely curious when I haven't told them anything while walking back to the seashore. "Okay. We were supp

"Why bother to ask me, Jas, if your perfect girlfriend, Malia, can tell you everything that happens on the island?" That statement sounded sarcastic but I just let it out without considering it. And I can't get those words back to my mouth. However, my wolf intentionally said those words to annoy Malia. To see how long her patience could last so she would uncover that mask behind her face. It has been as few incidents that I could sense something was off of her. Recognizing a baby fetus in someone's belly was beyond what ordinary humans can do. It requires a high level of werewolf senses to notice it. Not to mention it was her first time seeing Joshua's mama and we were standing a few meters away from her earlier. Even if my dismayed face was pointed somewhere far away to the deep blue ocean, my wolf could sense Nathaniel and Jasper's startling expressions. "Nathalie, what was that supposed to mean, huh?" Malia blocked Jasper's hands when he tried to stop her to avoid conflict. It

After checking the entire house of the mansion, the three of us proceeded to the dense forest behind the mansion. Approximately about five hectares was the size of the forest that we have to check. Our entire day would not be enough to wander the five-hectare forest on foot. So, we rented two all-terrain vehicles to maximize our time in searching for Joshua and Justine. Seeing either of them would be of great help so I could know they waited for me in New York City. My wolf was supposed to disagree with Jasper joining me on one of the ATVs, but he said it was Malia's brilliant idea. Not that I am complaining, I just don't want to cause further conflicts between us. Nathaniel advised me to stay away from both of them if I wanted him to keep an eye on Malia. So, I simply followed his advice. My wolf just did not expect Malia would lend his boyfriend to me since they were already inseparable from each other these days. "Don't worry about him, Nathalie. My wolf was supposed to have a few minutes of nap to regain my lost strength but the knocks on the door completely relinquish my sleepiness. When I dragged my gaze back to the table, the piece of paper and pen was still there, unmoved. Before I slid to the doorway, I leapt to the windows and drop them close when the cold air from the outside was freely wandering in and out of the room. "Nathalie?" he added. "Please, wait a sec," I yelled back. As soon as my hands pulled the door open, Nathaniel's solemn facial expression greeted my eyes. I don't know what that is but I guess it has something to do with Jasper and Malia's ready-to-go kind of expressions. "What now, Nathaniel?" I muttered to him. "I was about to take a nap but you already ruined it. I hope whatever that is was worth it." Nathaniel's mood suddenly changed as he dragged a bulk of water down to his throat and avoided getting eye-to-eye contact with me. "I'm afraid it will ruin everything, Nathal

"Do you believe in what the news is saying? That's completely ridiculous, right?" The cab driver broke the bridge of silence between us in the car. "I mean... There were a lot of problems Chicago was facing these days - heavy traffic, death rates, and poverty. It's not that I am against their plan of eliminating those monsters, but, I've heard no such thing as werewolves." I dont know if I should be pleased or not with what the cab driver told me. He sounded like monsters such as werewolves are not the main problem to society but the government itself. However, the government was right. We are monsters. "... Now, we have on the other line of the phone, the man behind the list. And he wants the public to address him as the Benefactor of this werewolf hunting trip. However, his safety is our main concern. So, we secure his basic information such as name, address, and contact number." added the reporter on the news. "People of the United States. Recently, we, the people o

"Josh, wait up!" Nathaniel whispered as he removed his clothes and shifted into a big bad wolf before he jumped over the fence and followed me. As soon as we heard the sounds of the gunshots, I bumped my body into the door by force, especially when it was locked. When we got the chance to see the image of the house, a flood of fresh drops of blood greeted us. The worst part is that I could barely sense anyone's presence in the house anymore aside from the body lying on the floor with an axe dug in straight to the woman's heart. "We're late," I muttered to myself with much regret that pinched the deepest part of my conscience. I could barely sense the woman's breathing anymore. Neither was her heartbeat. "She's dead." Nathaniel roamed around shortly, checking every corner of the house. We sensed the murderer's scent ten seconds ago but it disappeared like thin air all of a sudden before we could get in. But the house was already deserted. So, he went back to the

{Joshua's POV} "Baby, always remember what I told you, okay?" I muttered to Justine as soon as we stepped foot in front of his classroom. Undeniably, an entire part of me was feeling skeptical of the idea that he will go to class despite the situation he was in. Justine doesn't know yet that someone has put a price on his head amounting to four million dollars. I mean, my little brother was just a grade-schooler. He hurts no one and barely knows about Chicago werewolves. He doesn't deserve to be part of this nonsense and unreasonable dilemma. I don't want him to worry about his life either. All I want for him is to continue his study to have a better future similar to most humans. "That I should reach out to you or Lady Nathalie in case of emergency? Are we in danger, brother Josh? I heard you guys back in Lady Nathalie's place talking about werewolves who are in danger. Are we included in the list?" Justine asked back. And he's started to worry. "No, we're not

And I know he somehow noticed our surprised expressions, especially his brother, Justine. He cared for his brother very much. His little decision, whatever it is, also matters to Joshua. "My entire week is available. But once the clinic gets back its operation, I'm gonna focus my undivided attention so Justine and I could save enough to get back to the island." Joshua said back, trying to ease off Justine's awful expression. "But I thought we are going to stay with Lady Nathalie, brother Josh. Does that mean you're lying to me?" Justine said back in an unhappy tone. My brain was frozen for a few seconds. They only have each other's back if Joshua will insist on ignoring my help. Breaking them apart would be the last thing I would do. So, I tried digging into my brain about how to convince Joshua to stay in Chicago instead of going back to the island knowing they are no longer welcome to live there as her mama told us. That's why she willingly entrusted her two sons

Every one of us, including Justine, exchanged glances, trying to read each other's minds to know which side of the choice we are on. But no matter which side Joshua chooses, I will forever be supporting him. "Then, we'll help them. But, for the record, this is not an assurance that we could protect all of them," had to point that out. I don't Joshua would blame not just me when things go south. My family may be that wealthy enough to have billions of dollars in my bank accounts but I'm not desperate enough to kill the wolves, including our pack members. What good could I get about that? Let alone paying millions of dollars to eliminate thousands of them. "Besides, we still don't know who's madman is behind all these. Putting millions of dollars in our heads requires a massive amount of money in their bank accounts." "So, does this mean my head was priced at a hundred million dollars? 'Cause that was the figure written parallel to my name." Joshua's confrontation ma

Despite Joshua's weakened wolf, he still has the strength to punch Nathaniel in the face. His rage exploded like a volcanic eruption. Aside from that his explosion was extremely hot, no one would dare block his way unless you were ready to get a punch from him too. "Wait... You told him?" Could not help but lush out my frustration to Nathaniel instead of taking his side. I pushed him by force when I could not believe he preceded me even if he knows there was no slight chance between us. And I thought of our sex as a huge mistake driven by the call of alcohol in our systems. "No. I didn't. But I thought you already told him since you heard it yourself, he was referring to our..." Nathaniel cut off his words before making things worse. "No. I haven't told him yet, you idiot. That was already part of my plan, but not now when all our lives are in great danger including the kid. I'm afraid my name was already included on the list." "What list are you talking about?" Jo

"Rescue was on their way, Nathalie. Please hold until we reached the road you're in, okay?" Those were the last words coming from Nathaniel from the other line of the phone before the call got ended. "Okay. Thank you so much, Mr Nathaniel. But, please, come quick. Brother Josh started not to look good." Justine's words made me stealth a glimpse at the rearview mirror and found out indeed, his brother doesn't look good. The colour of his skin started losing its normal glow and was soaked in profuse sweat. I could barely hear his heartbeat either. Neither was his breathing. "Joshua, can you talk? How are you feeling?" I asked and stayed focused on driving the car to avoid getting hit by those arrows and axes as much as possible. "Lady Nathalie, please, help Brother Josh. He's not breathing anymore." Justine's voice even increased my worries and fears, especially when Joshua is not responding to my inquiries. Justine suddenly screamed when Joshua's half of his bod

"Young man, is she your girlfriend?" the cab driver asked. "Are you dumping that kind of woman? Are you kidding me?" "First of all, she's someone's girlfriend. Next to that, I'm not talking to her. So, please, tell her that she needs to move away if she doesn't want to get hit by the car." Joshua said back. "You heard the man, Miss gorgeous. So, please, I'm not gonna say it again. There are a few cab drivers and passengers at the back who are more furious than you are. If I'm not gonna move away, they will put the blame me." Indeed there were a few cab drivers who just hopped out of their respective cars and some continued beeping their horns, making the entire waiting area into chaos. "I'm so sorry, Josh. Nevertheless, the only face I see was Nathaniel who was heading in my direction, somewhat bothered. "Nathalie, you need to get back to the unit. Now. The guests are staring at you." "It's all your fucking fault he left." I made sure most guests on the ground floor heard it to make sure their sharp eyes were pointed at him. Then, I rushed back to the elevator and ascended to my unit alone. In a few minutes, Nathaniel followed with a blushing face and sharp eyes. He slid to the fridge and gulped a bottle of water in one go but I could sense the anger that was bothering him. "You know what, Nathalie? If you fucking want to blame it on me. Better say it in front of my face, not in front of the other people. And don't forget, it's also your fault since you've done nothing to make things right. Grow up." Nathaniel let go of the empty bottle of water and threw it into the trash bin. Then, he slid to the couch and switched on the television. And I just stood in front of
