If I didn’t carry the ostracizing tag of a ‘temporal Luna’, I could swear that my first day of school would have been a good one. But no. It was far from it. I could barely introduce myself properly in front of the entire class because their stares, snorts and snide remarks, were literally killing me. And the geography teacher; Miss Cynthia, seemed to enjoy adding salt to my injury as she couldn’t keep my name off her mouth throughout the class. “Elena, do you mind explaining how pack hierarchy is influenced by territorial resources? I assume you know the basics of how packs operate?" “Elena, considering your fragile condition, can you keep up with physical activities, or do we need to excuse you from everything strenuous?" “Can anyone answer this? Oh wait, how about Elena? Surely she knows. It’s basic knowledge.” I grunted as my horrific first class experience replayed in my mind, while I shoved my books inside my new locker. What the hell was even wrong with her? I could swear that she had intentionally threw all those questions at me to spite me. God! I hate this school already! Ignoring the hundreds of eyes that kept staring at me in the hallway, I found my way to the cafeteria and sat alone at a table. Thankfully, the only thing they could do was stare and gossip. And laugh too. But none of them seemed to have the audacity to approach me again. All thanks to the early intervention of the Bloodmoon siblings. A minute later, I buried myself into my meal. It was a plate of grilled salmon with quinoa salad and a side of roasted vegetables. Fancy eating luxury lunch from an elite academy. Barely five minutes into my meal, the chairs screeched around me and I lifted my gaze to see three other girls joining me at the table. The first one was golden blonde haired and pretty to a fault. The second was a brunette and was equally as pretty, while the third girl had long, straight dark hair. In fact, all three of them looked like they had just stepped out of a fashion magazine cover. Stunning was a subtle word to describe them as. And to crown it all, they all had friendly smiles on their faces. My initial anxiety upon setting eyes on them, settled into a small relief. Seemed like they were going to be nice. “Hey, sweetheart.” The blonde haired girl who was seated in the middle of her friends waved at me, her smile stretching. Then, she stretched out her arm across the table for a handshake. “The name’s Cassidy.” I blinked and hesitantly accepted the handshake. Why were they being overly nice to me? Was the heavens finally smiling down at me? “I’m…uhm… Elena.” “Yeah. We know.” Cassidy chuckled as she withdrew her hand. Then, she wiped her hand over a small towel that was handed over to her by the brunette. The smile on my face faltered. “This is Brielle,” Cassidy continued, gesturing to the brunette who waved me briefly with a smile that didn’t quite seem to reach her eyes. Motioning to the dark haired girl who now had a stoic look on her face, she added. “And this is Piper. We’re besties.” I forced a smile on my face and nodded. “Cool.” “I know, right?” Cassidy chuckled again, batting her lashes as she did so. “Anyway, it seems the whole academy is talking about you. You know, the new girl who looks so simple, and yet, could easily pass on as the prettiest girl in the entire school.” I lifted a brow. Oh, really? That was… interesting to hear. “So, we were thinking…” It was Brielle’s turn to speak now as she leaned closer, propping her elbow on the table. Her eyes were glinting with something that looked like mischief and it put me off badly. “…that it would be a great idea to have you join our clique as our new recruit bestie. What do you think, El?” El? They already had a nickname for me? “Uhm…” I stuttered, then cleared my throat. “I’m not so sure about that…” But before I could complete my sentence, Cassidy held up a finger, stopping me halfway. The smile was still on her face and it was beginning to creep me out now. “Uhm… excuse me? Are you trying to turn our precious offer down?” “Not really…” I tried to defend myself again but it was a waste of time. “You should know that we are the academy belles.” Piper chipped in, her face still as stoic as ever. Only, slightly annoyed. “The most powerful, hottest, and untouchable girls around here and the pack in general. Nothing happens without our approval." Huh. How nice. “I’m not saying…” I tried to argue again but Cassidy beat me to it. “My father is the Gamma of the Lycan king’s army.” She said. “Brielle’s father is the head of the pack’s wealth management. And Piper’s uncle is a senior member of the Lycan’s council. We are a big deal.” What a show off! “Now, let me reveal something really interesting to you.” She leaned in, bringing her face closer to mine. “You would be really dumb and stupid to think that we really wanted to be friends with you. We already have a fourth member. Mind taking a guess who she might be?” I sighed, already tired of their boring melodrama. Nice to know I was wrong about them. They were nothing close to friendly or nice. “Well,” I replied to Cassidy. “I wouldn’t know who your fourth member is because I am just new here. It’s also fine if you never wanted to be friends with me. Now, if you won’t mind, can you give me some space so I could enjoy my lunch in peace? As you can see, it’s getting cold already.” As soon as I finished speaking, I felt a hand grab me forcibly by my hair, tugging it roughly. It felt like a dream that in the flash of a second, Piper had sprung up from her seat and attacked me before I could even process what was happening. Screaming from the stinging pain, I tried to hit off her hands but it was futile. She only tugged and pulled at my hair even tighter. “You poor, sickly bitch!” Piper cursed at me in a tone of rage and venom. “You have the guts to talk back at us and fake ignorance, huh?! You really thought you would be able to walk freely after getting our fourth member involved in that car accident?!” “What the hell are you talking about?!” I yelled and screamed, trying so hard to fight her off while I heard the cheers and laughters from everyone else in the cafeteria. Through my hazy, painful vision, I saw Cassidy and Brielle laughing to their utmost delight. My heart burned in fury. How dare they… And that was when it clicked to me. Getting their fourth member involved in a car accident… Were they in any way referring to Sophie? “You think you can compete with Sophie, huh?!” Piper pushed me to the ground now as the cheers increased. She dashed me a slap right across my face as she hovered above me. “You stole Sophie’s spot in the Lycan King’s life! But no matter what you do, you can never be good enough! You can never earn the Lycan King’s love, you filthy thief!” Of course, these mean girls had to be Sophie’s friends. Birds of the same feathers. Tired of being stepped on, I allowed my anger cloud my head and in one swift motion, I slapped Piper hard on the cheek. The sudden slap pushed her off my body and sent her landing on her back against the ground. Without wasting anymore time, I towered over her and overpowered her, slapping her over and over again while she yelped in pain. “Spoilt! Mean! Brat!” I cursed at her face. “I’m tired of people like you! I am so fucking tired!” “Leave her alone!” Cassidy’s voice came from behind and she pounced on me with Brielle, the both of them pulling and tugging at my hair. Yet, I did not let the pain they were inflicting on me to stop me. I would make Piper a scapegoat and everyone else would learn to stay the fuck away from me. But it seemed like the gods were not in agreement with me. Because the next second, a sharp pain spread through my chest and my heart started to pound erratically. My grip on Piper weakened as I struggled to gasp for air, feeling my breath now labored. Fuck. It was happening again! Not now. Not now, pls. The degree of pain that spread from my chest, throughout my body made it difficult for me to think or focus. My vision began to turn foggy and dim. And the last thing I felt before I finally passed out was Piper kicking me hard to the ground.[ Nikolai ]As my council members bickered ceaselessly, I leaned back against my throne which I was seated on, watching the scene before me in total disinterest. Trust me, if I had anywhere else to be at, I wouldn’t be here in the first place. “This is unacceptable!” Councilman Darius slammed his fist on the table. “A sick Luna with cursed white hair? Everyone in the pack can swear that she is a binger of doom. Even her family says so. And her mother’s death while birthing her is no coincidence! She is a witch! A bad omen! And she is unfit to be the Luna of this pack!”“You can’t say something like that, Darius. Do you think the moon goddess chose her as a joke?” Councilwoman Seraphina scoffed ridiculously. “The bond was forged in the first place by the moon goddess herself before the Lycan king rejected the girl and chose her sister instead. Are we so arrogant as to question the wisdom of the moon goddess?”“Nonsense!” Councilman Pascal countered sharply. “This isn’t just about her
[ Elena ]I laid down, my back to my bed as I stared at the ceiling, completely bored out of my mind. I couldn’t show up at the academy today because the physicians had asked me to have my rest.None of these would have happened to me if it weren’t for those dumb, mean girls. A sharp knock on my door startled me and I looked towards the direction of the door before answering.“Who is it?”“It’s your maid, duh. Open up already.” The sharp, annoyed voice of my maid replied and I sighed before answering again.“Come in. The door is unlocked.”Following my reply, the maid roughly pushed the door open and stepped inside. Her gaze regarded me for a moment, raking my body all over before muttering.“Look at you. Lying like a bag of potatoes. Weak.”I clenched my jaw, feeling my blood boil at her words but it wasn’t enough to break me. I had dealt with far more worse than some clueless, disrespectful maid.“What is the matter?”Rolling her eyes ridiculously at me, she replied.“Some people
[ Elena ]“Are you deaf or pretending to be deaf? Why aren’t you answering my question?” Nikolai’s question came again after we stayed staring at each other for almost a minute. I was too frozen and tongue tied to think of a proper response to give. Asides from the shock of being caught in his room, seeing him almost naked and just out of the shower was just too much for me to take in. The only thing that covered his nakedness was a small towel hanging dangerously low on his hips, leaving very little to the imagination. With flaming cheeks, my eyes locked to the water droplets trickling from his damp, disheveled midnight black hair, trailing down the ridge of his muscular chest. I gulped, my pussy tightening together as I imagined for a split second, how his hard chest would feel under my fingers. Also, how stupid had I being to think he was still in the council meeting by this hour of the night? I had foolishly brought this upon myself. And it was all because of my good-for-nothing
[ Elena ]“Shit. I’m late.” I cursed at myself as I ran through the hallway, heading straight for class. Today was the day that I finally resumed school and I had foolishly overslept. One thing I hated the most was having to experience the awkwardness of walking in an already filled class and interrupting the lecture, causing hundreds of eyes to be drawn to me. Like an attention seeking leech. The thought alone raised goosebumps on my arms.Without looking, I took a sharp turn that led to my class, only to collide my body against something hard and solid. The collision caused me to lose my balance and I was pushed backward with a force that would have caused me to hurt my waist badly if I had met with the ground. But thankfully, that did not happen as a hand shot out, grabbing me instantly by the waist to stop me from falling.Panting heavily in relief, I lifted my gaze to look at the face of my savior and my eyes met with dark, piercing silver ones that seemed to stare back at me w
[ Elena ]After school, Lycan Nikolai’s guards picked me up and drove me straight home. Literal special Luna treatment, except that mine was only temporary.Well, I might as well enjoy it while it lasts. I already knew what kind of treatment awaited me when I eventually returned to my family. When we reached the packhouse, I stepped inside. Just as I reached the foyer, my shoulder slammed into something. Or rather, something solid collided with me. The impact knocked me off balance and I staggered, falling toward the floor. At the last second, I caught myself with my hand, but a sharp pain shot through my wrist.Wincing, I cradled my wrist and looked up to see what —or who— I had bumped into.Standing over me with a dark grin was the head maid. Behind her stood two other maids, their expressions also smug and amused.I rolled my eyes mentally, already knowing that they were here to cause trouble. I knew this because the head maid seemed to be committed to making my life a misery aro
[ Elena ]“The preparations for the mating moon gala are in full swing. This year, we're making it special by inviting newly mated wolves from other packs…”Adrian, Nikolai’s Beta, was briefing us, but my mind was somewhere else entirely. Nikolai had asked me to join him in the throne room to be part of the planning process, but I could barely focus.Today was Ronan’s birthday, and I was determined to execute my Plan B: sneaking out to the party without Nikolai catching me. However, pulling it off was proving harder than I had imagined. The packhouse was crawling with guards who wouldn’t let me take a single step outside unless it was on Nikolai’s orders. If I failed to make it to the party, Ronan would make a mockery of me for the rest of my stay in that school.I couldn’t let that happen.I let out a soft, frustrated sigh, completely unaware I had done so until Nikolai’s voice cut through my thoughts and dragged me back to reality.“Are you already bored, Elena?”I looked up, startl
I spent the rest of the time rummaging through my closet, searching for something party-appropriate. Frustration bubbled up as I sifted through one elegant dress after another. Dresses, dresses, and more dresses! Exactly what you would expect from a Luna who was supposed to always look polished and graceful. Then my fingers brushed against a pair of baggy jeans tucked away in the back. A small, triumphant smile spread across my face. Perfect!I quickly found a shirt that matched, along with a simple beanie to cover my hair. Laying them out neatly on the bed, another smile crossed my lips. This was the first party I had ever been invited to, and I couldn’t afford to mess it up.With an hour left to go, I rushed into the bathroom for a quick shower. Afterward, I did the bare minimum with my makeup. Just a swipe of lip gloss and a bit of mascara. As I glanced at my reflection in the mirror, I gave myself a wink, feeling oddly accomplished.I mean, being able to handle lip gloss and ma
[ Elena ]“So… your so-called ‘friends’ are the Bloodmoon siblings.” Nikolai said, his voice calm but laced with amusement. He had just parked the car at the entrance of the party, where Ronan and Celeste stood outside, casually sharing wraps of some illegal substance with their group before disappearing back inside. My throat went dry, and I froze, feeling my palms turn clammy, my stomach in knots. He had figured it out.Ugh! Why did he insist on coming with me in the first place?“You’re terrible at keeping secrets, Elena.” He added, leaning over to push open the door on my side. His muscles brushed lightly against my bra as he did that and I felt my cheeks heat up and body warmed up instantly. But he didn’t seem to have noticed the effect that small movement had on me. As he relaxed against his seat, waiting for me to step out, I remained rooted to my seat and didn’t step out immediately. I just sat there, staring at him, unsure of how to respond. Fear and confusion had me roote
[ Elena ]The Moon Mating Gala was just two days away, and the entire pack was buzzing with preparations. The academy had gone on a short break, giving everyone time to get ready. Young girls were beginning to fill the streets, shopping for dresses and accessories, hoping to shine their best at the grand event.I had never attended the Moon Mating Gala before. It was reserved for the elite girls of the pack —the daughters of high-ranking wolves, or at the very least, the most beautiful ones. The gala was a tradition where newly mated wolves, chosen during the last full moon festival, had their first official dance. They would present themselves before the Lycan King and Queen, along with other honored guests. And yet, here I was —not just attending, but standing as the Lycan Queen. Me. The girl who had never been considered worthy of an invitation. Funny how life could change so quickly… even if my position was only temporary.I had promised myself I would enjoy this moment and not l
Elena As Nikolai and I stepped into the throne room, I never expected the ‘important guests’ he mentioned to be Valerie and my father. But what shocked me even more was the state they were in. They were kneeling on the floor, hands bound, their clothes disheveled as if they had been roughly handled. Two guards stood behind them with stone cold expressions on their faces. I frowned in confusion. What had happened? What offence had they committed?“Sit.” Nikolai said as we reached the thrones.I hesitated, glancing down at the joggers and oversized top I was wearing. If I had known we were coming here, I would have changed into something more appropriate. It felt wrong to sit on the throne dressed like this.“Sit,” he repeated, his gaze locked onto mine.Forcing a small, thin-lipped smile, I obeyed, lowering myself onto my throne while he settled into his own beside me.From where she was kneeling, Valerie shot me a hateful glare. I still wondered what all of this was about.“Elena,”
ElenaWhen I woke up the next morning, I didn’t expect to find myself in Nikolai’s chamber. My eyes blinked against the soft morning light as I took in the familiar walls, confusion settling deep in my chest.Frowning, I slowly sat up. The pain from last night was still there, but it wasn’t as sharp. It was dull now, a lingering ache rather than the unbearable torment it had been. How did I get here?I tried to piece together everything that had happened. Nikolai had ordered his guards to throw me in the cell. Francesca had tormented me. Pain and thirst had drained the last of my strength. And then darkness. But now, I was here.In the room of the same Lycan King who had locked me up.Did he find me unconscious and bring me here? Why? And if he wanted to help, why not send me to the healing wing instead of his personal chamber?A soft groan left my lips as I ran a hand through my hair. My fingers brushed against something unfamiliar, and it was only then that I realized… that wasn’t w
NikolaiA bright ray of sunlight hit my eyes, pulling me from unconsciousness. Blinking against the harsh light, I raised a hand to shield my face and slowly pushed myself up from the grass beneath me.My heart clenched as my eyes scanned my surroundings.I was here again. Back in this place. This nightmare I knew too well. A memory that had haunted me all my life. A past I could never escape.“Get up already! Don’t be a lazy ass!”A familiar voice rang through the air, softening the ache in my chest even as it deepened the wound.I turned toward the sound. The sunlight faded just enough for me to see ‘her’ riding toward me on a horse, her golden hair flowing like silk in the wind. She was breathtaking. Effortless grace and strength in every movement. And that warm, teasing smile... it always left me powerless. As she neared, I quickly rolled out of the way to avoid being trampled, then got to my feet. She laughed, a sound like music, as she slid off the horse and ran toward me.Befo
[Nikolai] “Elena!”I ran to her slumped, unconscious body, my heart pounding harder than ever before. Panic seized me as I dropped to my knees, pulling her limp form into my arms. Her face was pale, too pale, and my chest tightened painfully. My breaths came in short, sharp bursts as fear gripped me.“Guards!” I roared, my voice echoing through the walls.Within seconds, they rushed in, bowing their heads before me. My glare was sharp and my jaw clenched in rage.“What the fuck happened to her?” I demanded through gritted teeth. The guards exchanged nervous glances, their eyes darting between me and Elena. Beads of sweat formed on their foreheads, and they looked like they could piss themselves at any moment.“M-My king…” they stuttered in unison before one of them finally spoke up.“We have no idea, my king.” Their heads remained bowed, fear evident in their trembling voices.I wanted to tear them apart, to snap their useless necks for failing to protect her. But right now, Elena wa
[Elena] The guards did not lay a hand on me, but the cell itself did. It was a wretched place —damp and suffocating with the air thick with the stench of decay and something long forgotten. A single, pathetic window sat high above, barely allowing a sliver of light to seep through, casting eerie shadows against the cold, stone walls. With a deep sigh, I leaned back against the cold, rough wall and slid to the floor. My face was streaked with dried tears, but I wasn’t angry at Nikolai for locking me up. If anything, I was surprised this was all he had done. Knowing him, I had expected far worse. Nikolai didn’t take betrayal lightly, and stealing from him—even for a good reason—was still a betrayal. I stayed in that cell until nightfall, my body growing weaker with every passing hour. My throat burned with dryness, and my stomach twisted in hunger. I had eaten nothing all day. I had left the packhouse without breakfast, spent hours with evil Valerie, and then ended up here, aban
[Elena]By the time I reached the packhouse, Tamara was already waiting at the entrance, pacing anxiously. The moment she saw me, she rushed forward, grabbing my hand in a firm grip.“My Luna, where have you been? The Lycan King has been searching for you everywhere,” she said, her wide eyes filled with worry. If someone didn’t know better, they would think we had been close for years. “He even sent for you at school, but you weren’t there.”“He sent for me at school?” I repeated, feeling my stomach drop. A sudden wave of unease washed over me —not because he wanted to see me, but because he had expected me to be somewhere I wasn’t.Or maybe I should be more concerned about the fact that he had gone to such lengths to find me. That meant whatever he needed me for was serious.I pulled my hand free from Tamara’s grasp, forcing myself to remain calm as I met her worried gaze.“Do you know why he’s looking for me?”She shook her head, her eyes glistening with unshed tears.“Was he angry?
[ Elena ]The next morning, after being dropped off at school, I didn’t go inside.Instead, I slipped into a corner, pulled a hoodie over my head to hide my identity, and hailed a cab. As I climbed in, I clutched my backpack tightly against my stomach, nerves twisting inside me as the car pulled away from the curb.I couldn’t believe I was skipping school for this. But this was important. As the cab rolled to a stop in front of my father’s house, I hesitated. The driver glanced at me through the rearview mirror and I handed him the fare. He drove off, leaving me alone in front of the place I once called home.I stared at the house, my backpack still clutched close and my heart pounding against my ribs.Memories flooded my mind —painful, suffocating memories. The way they had made my life a living hell. How they had turned me into a slave in my own home. And even now, after I had escaped their clutches, they still wouldn’t leave me alone.I swallowed the lump in my throat and took a de
[ Elena ]As soon as the lunch bell rang, I bolted after Ronan and Celeste, weaving through the crowded hallway and nearly knocking into other students. I mumbled apologies as they cussed after me.I caught up with Ronan and Celeste just as they were about to enter the café with their friends.“Hey! Wait… can we talk?” I grabbed Celeste’s wrist with pleading eyes. She let out a bored sigh, then glanced at Ronan and the others. “You guys go ahead. I’ll be there soon.”Once they left, she yanked her wrist free —not too roughly, but enough to make her point. Folding her arms over her chest, she fixed me with a cold, piercing stare.“What do you want, traitor?”I flinched inwardly. I knew that was what they were going to think of me now.“I’m sorry.” I said, licking my lips as I struggled to find the right words. The speech I had rehearsed in my head was suddenly gone. I felt exposed and vulnerable. “It’s not what it looked like.”“Oh, really?” Celeste arched a brow. There was disbelief
