As the conversation quieted down, footsteps echoed from outside the hospital room.

The door swung open, and Liam saw Sophia clutching his mother's hand, her eyes tightly shut as tears streamed down her face.

Hearing the sound, Sophia looked up at him, her eyes red-rimmed. "Liam, the doctor said Mrs. Park is in critical condition! Don't go to the office today. I believe you’d be the first person she wants to see the moment she wakes up.”

Liam stood at a distance, his brow furrowed, showing no intention of comforting her.

"This doesn't concern you anymore, you can leave."

"…Alright then, just call me if you need anything."

The conversation suddenly turned to the topic of cellphones, startling Sophia, while Grace, pretending to faint, sneakily poked her hand.

"Did you see my phone?"

Liam stooped to search for his phone, instantly causing Sophia and Grace to freeze, their breath caught in their throats.
