Brandon POV

A carved ring like the ones on my fingers are considered a symbol of authority in a mafia. Every mafia boss is expected to wear a ring, with the symbol of his mafia group engraved onto it. It was like a crown for a king.

In a fight between two different mafia gangs, a side can only be defeated, if the ring is taken off the finger of their leader. I destroyed the Alvarez, Louisanas, Morgans; I defeated them one after the other, and took each of their rings. I killed Santiago Calaveros too, but...

Somehow, the Calaveros seemed to have returned now, and the only way they can fully get back into power, is if I give it back to them.

I sat in the solitude of my dimly lit sitting room, mulling to myself, as I smoked a stick of cigarette. I still couldn't wrap my head around the fact that Santiago Calaveros was back. I mean, it had to be him, right?

I looked down at the ring that I'd been absent-mindedly playing with. It was made of silver, and had the carvings of a two headed cro

Danielle's POVI slowly opened my eyes, to be met with the familiar, morning scenery of my room, here in Brandon's mansion.Speaking of Brandon, I seemed to remember him putting me to sleep last night, but he was nowhere around, right now. He'd probably run off to do some mafia business or whatever."Shall I run your bath, Miss Owens?" Anna's voice suddenly startled me, and I turned to see her standing by the door of the bathroom."Dammit, Anna!" I exclaimed, placing my hand on my chest and sighing in releif. She just smiled at me."You've got to stop calling me that." I said to her, as I lazily rolled off the bed."Sorry, Miss Danielle." She said, and I resisted the urge to ask her to call me "Danny".My thoughts suddenly drifted towards Sam, and the conversation I had with Brandon, last night. I remembered how Brandon was so unwilling to help Sam, and a sudden wave of panic began to wash over me.I began to imagine all the horrible things they must have done to Sam, or the things t

Brandon's POVI hung up my phonecall , as I casually strutted into the abandoned building, looking as relaxed as I can be. Seeing as I personally destroyed their former residence, it was expected of them to take refuge in a place like this.My eyes subtly scanned my surroundings, taking note of the few men standing around with weapons in their hands. Looks like they haven't gotten their numbers back. Finally looking straight ahead, my eyes landed on a familiar, tall, lean man, with a tattoo of the Calaveros symbol on his neck; Wade. His bloodshot eyes watched my every step, as he grinned maliciously. Wade was definitely looking much worse, than the last time I saw him. Oh! I could still see burn marks on his face.I could tell from how he stood, that he was trying so hard to appear intimidating, to exude dominance and make me cower. It was quite laughable. They were about fifteen men in total, and luckily for me, I had taken on much more, all by myself."I was expecting you to come w

Brandon's POV"You had one job!" I seethed at Micheal, as he cast his gaze downwards."One fucking job, Micheal!" All I needed him to do was remain here in the mansion. If he had just stuck to the plan, this wouldn't have happened. He disobeyed my orders, and now the ring was gone."I'll find out who did this, Boss!" He said, making me turn around to look at him."Uh oh!" Aurora exclaimed lowly, from the sofa she was lying on.The Calaveros were obviously a step ahead of me. Wade was right about them having more tricks up their sleeves, and it made me furious that I had fallen for one of them. They obviously planted a mole among my men, which meant that whoever took the ring, was still here. The Calaveros were daring enough to make a move on our inside, and it infuriated me. "You messed up!" I growled at Micheal, aiming a punch at his face, and causing him to stagger backwards, with a grunt.I suddenly brought out a pistol, cocking it, and pointing it at him. "You fucking disobeye

Danielle's POVI couldn't believe what was happening right now. I mean, I never knew much about Brandon, but this? This was a lot.I was looking right at the man, who raised Brandon to be the ruthless, mafia boss he is today. This same man was also the biological father of that bitch, Aurora."You haven't touched your food, honey. You alright?" Aurora grinned at me, from across the dining table, where she sat beside Brandon.I clutched my utensils tightly and clenched my teeth, as I remembered walking in on two of them, kissing. I really wanted to wipe that grin off her face.Fuck! I should have declined, when I was asked to join them for dinner. Here I was, seating at the table with Aurora, Brandon and their supposed "Father". I felt like a total stranger in their midst, especially when they talked about "business". "I'm fine!" I said to her, through gritted teeth. She seemed to get a kick out of pissing me off. Her and Brandon had that in common.I noticed Brandon's lingering stare

Danielle's POV"There's nothing for us to talk about, Brandon!" I groaned out in frustration, as the blue eyed, mafia boss stood in my way.I was already running late for classes, and today would make it the third time this week. It was time I realized that I'm a final year student, and I had to be really serious with my studies. No hot, arrogant distraction of a mafia boss!"I saved your friend, you know?" He suddenly said, drawing his gaze down to my lips."And I appreciate that." "Doesn't look like that to me." He took a step towards me, and I frowned. His hand suddenly reached out to brush some unruly strands of hair from my face, and I flinched slightly."It bothers you, doesn't it?" He asked.I couldn't bring my eyes to meet his, nor could I even open my mouth to give him a suitable reply. I didn't trust the words that may come out."This marriage arrangement between I and Aurora, it bothers you." He said more confidently this time, and I forced myself to slap his hand off my f

Danielle's POV"So, how's your granny doing now?" I asked Sam, as I plopped down on a seat beside him in the library.I got to find out that Sam's only relative was his aged grandmother. She lives in a retirement home for old people, here in Las Vegas. The only reason he was involved with the Calaveros in the first place, was because they threatened to hurt her. They needed his expertise on the use of the dark web, for purchasing illegal weapons. Sam had no choice than to help them. But then, they soon realized he was also a useful tool for getting to Brandon. "She's...fine, I guess." He answered, making me raise an eyebrow at him."Well, she's a little shaken up by the incident, you know?" He explained, making me nod my head slowly at him."Riiight!" I drawled, as we finally fell back into silence. We remained like that for a while, before Sam decided to speak up again."Look, Danny. I want to apologise for being a total dick." "Yeah, you were." I scoffed at him, making him smile a

Danielle's POVI didn't expect to be standing in front of a five star hotel, when I finally arrived at the address given to me. I had left Aurora at the shopping mall, as soon as I heard that my brother had been taken."Follow me." A dark man in a suit, beckoned to me, and I hastily followed behind him.We walked down a very fancy lit hallway, heading towards an elevator. In the elevator, the man just waited patiently, while I reluctantly entered. He punched in some numbers, and we were soon moving up.I eyed the strange man warily, scanning his body for any kind of marking or tattoo, that would indicate what mafia group he belonged to. I was willing to bet that the Calaveros were behind this, and the thought of my brother in their custody made me so scared. I didn't waste a minute, when I was sent an address. We finally arrived at a very luxurious suite, and my eyes immediately began to scan the scenery for my little brother. There seemed to be no one here."Wait here!" The dark man

Danielle's POVJuan looked anything but upset at my refusal to do his bidding. If anything, he looked quite confident about being able to change my mind. It's been over two hours of me being seated here in this luxurious suite, and every attempt I made to escape had proven futile."Where is your boss? I want to see him!" I demanded, frustrated by his unwillingness to let me go. He was also surprisingly gentle with me, which unnerved me in a way.I was pretty sure his boss is the little brother he mentioned in his story earlier, but I could be wrong. Although, it confused me a little, I was only bothered about an audience with him. I really wanted out of this place, and I knew talking to the "right hand man" wouldn't do much good."I'm afraid not. My brother's a little shy." Juan smirked at me, as he busied himself making dinner in the kitchen. His sleeves were rolled up, so I could see more burn marks and the marking of the Calaveros mafia. However, I didn't see the said ring on hi

Danielle's POVHe came back to me! Brandon came back to me, after six months in a coma, after six months of helplessly waiting for a miracle. He made my nightmares disappear with just his presence."Momma!" My four years old son exclaimed, right before hugging my legs. From the looks of it, he went fishing again with his father. He looked up at me with his big, hazel eyes, and that was all I needed to confirm my suspicion. "Did you go fishing with your father again?" I asked, raising an eyebrow at him."Um...Aurora also came with us?" He confessed, making me roll my eyes, before bending down to meet his height."I wasn't going to punish you, Austin!" I said, making him sigh visibly in relief."Come on! Go ahead and call your sister. Six months since I last looked into his vibrant, blue eyes.My stomach was now bigger, as I was slowly nearing my delivery date. However, I didn't think I could do any of that without him, without Brandon.I let out a sniffle, like I had been doing for over a million times, taking his large hand in my smaller ones, and squeezing lightly."There you are, Danny! They've been keeping me company ever since."I don't want to!" I answered her stubbornly, not wanting to take my eyes off Brandon's unconscious body, even for a moment. He w

It was that Calaveros man from earlier; Diaz."Where do you think you're going?" He grinned sinisterly at me, before attempting to drag me off to the direction of their minivan.I started yelling, punching, kicking and scratching as much as I could, but it only seemed to anger him, as he kept tugging at my wrist. I let out a gasp, as a bullet suddenly went through his head, splattering blood all over my face. I watched him fall to the ground with a thud, and I turned around to look for who fired the shot. It was Micheal, and he kept gesturing for me to keep running towards the car.Looking down at the corpse before me again, I suppressed the urge to gag. He had a gun on him, and I bent down to take it from his lifeless hand. I'd seen men using guns before, so it shouldn't be too hard for me, right?Brandon was now clearly winning, as he stood over Sam, who was br

Danielle's POVA fight to the death? What the hell was he thinking? What sort of barbaric, mafia tradition is that? Why is it even a thing?I was suddenly dragged down from the vehicle I'd been boarding, and my eyes immediately started searching for Brandon. We were now on some sort of old, abandoned bridge, and armed Calaveros men were everywhere. I was yet to spot Brandon, even as Sam slowly emerged from behind me. He was shirtless, giving me a much clearer view of his tattoo adorned body. I glared at him."What's the matter, Dee? Nervous?" He smirked at me.I made a move to lunge at him with an attack, but one of his men was quick enough to hold me back, making me groan out in frustration."You won't get away with any of this. I managed to say, as his arms were literally choking me.He loosened up, when he realized I was saying something, and I took that opportunity to gasp for breath, before speaking."No matter what you do, Sam. I'll never love you." I spat at him.For a moment, I thought I saw the old Sam, the one I'd always trusted. His eyes widened in an emotion that resembled... regret? He was however quick to get rid of the look, as soon as it came."This isn't about you, anymore." He seethed, tightening his hold on my neck again and dragging me along.I continued to struggle against his hold, as I we moved closer to the direction of the gunfight.Soon, we were in some sort of courtyard, which w

Micheal argued."What will you have me do, then?" I yelled even louder."Will you prefer that I let them die?" "That's not what I said." Michael said, his voice cracking. I knew my words struck a nerve. His own family had been murdered in front of him, a long time ago. It was a very
