Parting the hug, Damien clambered on Elise's bed.

"Your bed feels softer than mine," Damien commented, pressing his palms into the bed.

"You're just imagining things," Elise laughed softly.

Damien loved to see her genuinely laughing. It had been a while since she did that.

"You always laugh beautifully," He complimented her, then reached for her bottom lip.

"I'm laughing so well because my fiance isn't going to lose his life. I'm so happy to know that we are going to spend our lifetime together," She smiled, touching his hand that rested on her lip. "I can't picture a life without you in it,"

"But you once lived without me," Damien reminded her.

"I lived with a replica of you, or rather a female version," She snickered, remembering Natalie. "And I was not madly in love with you, then,"

"Oh really??" He lifted an eyebrow with ease.
