Sage was stunned. When she looked up, she met Jace's dark eyes. He wrapped his large palms around her little hands and explained, "You won't be so cold now."

Sage went speechless.

Jace's palms were warm. When he held her hand, it felt like a small stove warming her hand. She was not cold anymore, but her hands were not the only ones that felt warm. Even her cheeks felt like it was burning.

When they arrived at the neighborhood's entrance, Jace quietly observed the area. He made sure there was no danger or ambush around before taking Sage into the cafe.

Laura's cousin owned the cafe, so it was a safe and familiar place. There were not many guests at night. Only a few guests occupied a few tables by the window in the cafe.
