I race up the stairs and make my way to Sebastian’s room seeking out the only person who can calm the storm raging inside of me. I hear the sound of the shower and proceed to the bathroom only to freeze in my tracks as I enter. Is there any part of this palace that doesn’t scream opulence?

Blinding white marble assaults my eyes and makes me stand out like a sore thumb. Across the room, three illuminated steps lead to a sunk-in bathtub surrounded by glass-encased candles, accented by a charcoal marble backdrop surrounding an electric fire behind a large glass screen, yet still managing to fill the room with its warmth, creating a warm ambience. To my right is a long marble slab with two matching sinks with gold fixtures in front of a wide counter-to-ceiling mirror that faces two glass doors. The glass doors are divided by a marble wall, with the first glass door enclosing a very minimalistic-looking toilet, but on the other side is the whole reason I came in here.

I storm through the Royal Suite and down the main corridor, rage fuelling my every step. That motherfucking prick! How fucking dare he say those things to Lemuel?! No wonder I’ve been having such a hard time getting through to him. Not only is he plagued with guilt from his past and a curse by a nosy Goddess, but he’s had my father in his ear echoing all his fears right back at him. And he never even told me! I’m not angry at Lemuel for not telling me, he’s only now started to open up, so I get it. I’m just fucking livid my own father would do something like this. He’s not only trying to sabotage my animai bond, but he’s hurting someone I love!I continue to storm through the palace, hunting for my father when I see Eisa happily walking towards me, her face falls in concern when she catches my expression.“What’s happened?” She asks with worry.“Where’s my father?” I grit out.“In the throne room with your mother, why?” She asks cautiously.“Go upstairs and stay with Lemuel,” I instru

  • A Queen Among Tides   Chapter 40: Making Friends - Lemuel

Sitting here trying to focus on Sebastian’s emotions is giving me whiplash. Since we’re not fully bonded, interpreting these emotions is just guesswork. He’s furious beyond all measure, but he’s also hurt, in awe and smug. I have no idea what to make of any of that. What could he possibly be in awe of? Not his father’s bullshit, that’s for sure. Scrubbing my hands down my face, I get up and make my way to the door, peeking my head out to make sure no one is around. I start walking across to my room when I hear the sound of a low whistle coming up the stairs. “Someone’s doing the walk of shame,” I hear Eisa tease. I sigh and turn around, “I am doing no such thing.” “Yet you’re naked in a towel,” she smirks, folding her arms over her chest. “I had a shower,” I retort. “Is yours broken?” She asks smugly. I sigh, “I can see why you two are such good friends.” She chuckles, “Go get dressed and then you can tell me why His Royal Highness was so furious.” I frown. I don't want to ha

  • A Queen Among Tides   Chapter 41: Sweet Sound - Lemuel

She leads me out of her suite and across the hall into the opposite suite. I can see why she’s brought me in here right away. The first thing that catches my attention in this suite is a spectacular-looking crystal grand piano. She leads me over to it and I take a moment to take in the beauty of this mesmerizing instrument. You can see every wire, every key, every chord. Everything is stripped away revealing the truth behind the magical music it creates, and yet, there is so much beauty in this clarity. Sun streams in and bounces off its smooth surface making it shine like a magnificent jewel. “You play?” I ask her. She smiles shaking her head, but the smile doesn’t reach her eyes. They look sad as they appear to recall a fond memory as she affectionately caresses the piano, “This was my mother’s. My father gifted it to her when she announced she was pregnant with me. I grew up surrounded by the sound of music. She played almost every day. The music stopped the day she died,” she sa

  • A Queen Among Tides   Chapter 42: Morning Pleasure - Lemuel

As I feel my senses stirring to life I’m aware of how hot my body feels and how laboured my breathing is. Fire ignites from my lower abdomen and shoots through my body and without thinking, I let out a pleasured groan. I finally open my eyes and look down to find the most erotic sight I’ve ever seen. Sebastian’s perfect, juicy ass pointed in the air while he sucks my dick and strokes his own. He moans around my dick sending euphoric shockwaves through my shaft, making my eyes roll back. I don’t know how long he’s been at this, but I could get used to waking up like this.I reach down gripping his hair as I watch my dick disappear into his wet mouth over and over again, “That’s it,” I moan. His desire and hunger are contagious as I watch him slide my dick out of his mouth with a pop and begin teasing under the head of my dick with his tongue making me groan.“Good morning, baby,” he says breathlessly.“It’s a good fucking morning for sure,” I breathe out as he takes me back in his mout

Slowly I begin to come to, but all I feel is agonising pain throughout my body. My insides burn like fire, my head feels woozy, and the back of my head is throbbing unbearably. What the fuck happened? I gingerly touch the back of my head, feeling something dry but still a little warm and wet against my fingers. I slowly open my eyes and as they adjust, I take in what appears to be some kind of dark, dungeon. There are no windows or sources of light, but beyond the cold, damp stone walls I can hear the muffled sounds of water. Am I underground? As my senses become clearer I’m aware of the growing sensation of fear and panic rising inside me, and it’s definitely not coming from me… Sebastian. He must have sensed what happened to me. He’s so scared and I can’t even reach out to let him know I’m okay. Fuck!“It’s about time you woke up,” a shrill voice sneers.I look over towards the bars of my cell to see a familiar blonde standing, watching me with amusement shining in her eyes.“Circe,”

  • A Queen Among Tides   Chapter 44: Making Plans - Sebastian

“Your Highness? ...Your Highness?” I snap from my daydream and look up at the patient face of Dimitra, the royal party planner. Despite my parent’s bigotry – mostly my father’s – they made no attempts to cancel my coronation, so it’s still on track as planned. Dimitra just wanted to go over some details for the big day. “Sorry, Dimitra, my mind was elsewhere,” I apologise. “On your animai,” she smirks. “You caught me,” I smile, sitting back in my chair. She chuckles, “Get used to it because it won’t change. I’ve been with mine for one hundred and sixteen years now and I still find myself drifting off into happy daydreams about him while I should be hard at work,” she says happily. “I definitely don’t want it to change, he’s everything I ever wanted,” I say dreamily, my mind going right back into the erotic gutter as I replay this morning’s events. I’ve wanted to wake him up with a blowjob since I met him, and it was fantastic! The hunger and desire burning in his electric eyes w

As I close the box and place it back safely into my drawer, Eisa bursts into my office looking concerned and quite pissed off. I rise to my feet, “What’s happened?” “My men have lost Circe,” she says warily. “What do you mean they’ve lost her?! How the fuck do the guards just lose someone?!” I ask as I come out from behind my desk. “I don’t know. They said they were following her and then she just disappeared,” she says in annoyance. “So she teleported?” I say in confusion. That makes no sense, Circe may be a High Born, but she doesn’t possess that ability… at least I don’t think she does. I never did invest time in getting to know her. Still don’t fucking care to. “They’re not stupid, Sebastian, they would have spotted her teleporting. This was her literally vanishing into thin air,” she tells me. “Then she has to be getting help from that bitch, Manon. I want you to–” My words are cut off by a scream of pain erupting from me almost knocking me senseless. “Sebastian!” Eisa sh

  • A Queen Among Tides   Chapter 46: True Suffering - Lemuel

Centuries of a cursed life now seem like a stroll through flower fields on a clear sunny day when compared to being trapped in a cell while I feel my animai go through a rainbow of painful emotions. His rage, fear, panic, and despair pierce me like splinters, each one embedding itself deeper into my being where I may never be free of them.Maybe this is just another aspect of my curse. Perhaps Merlos felt I'd become complacent in my suffering and teamed up with Zarseti to inflict a whole new type of pain upon me. Who knows what those Gods do for amusement? Merlos might have noticed I'd become adept at avoiding people and so she thought up a diabolical plan with Zarseti to bind me to someone I could never truly avoid and then use them to shatter my heart and soul into a thousand pieces. I might be losing my mind, but that all seems very likely to me.If Circe was able to obtain saffordite to hold me here, then that must mean she’s been able to obtain ocean jasper, and if that’s the cas

I walk over and lay down on the blanket and prop myself against the pillows and pat the spot next to me. He takes a step forward and I raise my hand to halt him, “Wait. You’re overdressed,” I say slyly. He smiles down at me and slowly pulls his shirt off over his head and my eyes quickly drink up his perfectly muscled physique. He slips off his loafers, unbuttons his pants and pushes them down along with his briefs until he’s completely naked in front of me. I sink my teeth into my bottom lip as I eye him with desire as I feel my cock get rock hard once again. “May I join you now?” He asks in a low voice. I nod, unable to find the words I want. He lowers himself to his knees and crawls along the blanket until he’s hovering over me. He slowly sinks down on top of him, the feel of his skin on mine sending currents of electricity through my entire body. His arms wrap around my head caging me between his arms as his lips descend on my neck. His soft full lips nip and caress my flesh as

I stare at him incredulously, “That’s a joke right?” He quirks an eyebrow at me, “Why would it be a joke?” “You’ve never been on a date?! And you’re just telling me now?!” I screech like a damn howler monkey. “It didn’t seem relevant,” he shrugs. “Didn’t seem relevant?!” I screech again, placing my glass down. “Would you cut that out, you’re going to disturb the sea life,” he chastises, taking another sip of his drink. “Lemuel, had you told me I would have done something extravagant,” I pout. He chuckles, “THIS doesn’t qualify as extravagant in your mind? You’ve set up a beautiful romantic date on a fucking yacht. Most first dates from what I hear these days are just dinner and a movie. Many would consider this extravagant, and I already love this date so stop having a meltdown and drink your drink,” he says, wrapping his arm around me and pulling me close as he kisses my neck making me take a laboured breath. I pick up my drink and take another sip, “I still can’t believe you

  • A Queen Among Tides   Chapter 71: Gem for my Jewel - Sebastian

I wasn’t nervous about Circe’s execution. I wasn’t even nervous about being given charge over a monolithic magical crystal now living in the oceanic version of my basement. But my first date with my soulmate? That has me nervous as fuck. Seems weird that I’m basically the supernatural equivalent of married and yet we’ve never been on a date. I mean, that night at the club does not count and that did not end well. I want… no, I NEED tonight to be perfect. That’s why I called in reinforcements. I’ve just finished setting the table on my family's yacht. Lemuel said he always felt at peace when he was on a boat on the water, so I want to give him an updated version of that, and no one has used the yacht in ages, so I figured it was time to dust off the cobwebs. The yacht is a Black Pearl and is one of the most eco-friendly yachts on the market. It’s 106.7 metres long and can reach speeds of up to 30 knots under sail and with a top cruising speed of 17.5 knots by motor. It has the ability

As I reconstitute I walk over to my desk, moving things around until I find the large stone tablet with scribble on it, or glyphs as everyone is claiming. I grab the block of stone and immediately teleport back to the throne room. “Is this is?” I ask, holding up the piece of stone. Aiyla’s eyes widen in disbelief and Isolde looks like she’s about to pass out. I walk over and place the piece of stone in Isolde’s hands and watch as she reverently traces her fingers over the carvings. “You were using part of an ancient prophecy, written by the Goddess Fretez herself… as a paperweight?” She asks in a low and slow voice. Wait, that thing was written by the Goddess Fretez?! Well, how the hell was I supposed to know that? It’s not like it came with a warning label that reads: ‘made by Goddess, do not touch’. I shrug feebly, “I didn’t know what it was. I thought it was just scribble,” I say defensively. Obviously, if I had known it was a sacred magical relic I would have been more respectf

“How much longer do you think?” I ask as I continue to pace across the throne room. “Aiyla said mid-day. It’s now mid-day, so I would assume any minute now,” says Lemuel casually while leaning leisurely against the wall. “What do you think the Orraikam looks like? Maybe an amulet? A mystical orb of some kind?” I ask enthusiastically. After Aiyla told us we would be placed in charge of protecting the magic of a Goddess, I combed the library for hours. I could not find a single reference to the Orraikam in any of our books, not even in our vault which is to protect ancient works from damage. It was a long shot, but I figured it was worth a look, but I guess the Delegation did a damn fine job of keeping this thing hidden, until now. “I’m sure whatever it looks like, is nothing either of us can comprehend,” he says in a very blasé manner. “Aren’t you the least bit excited?” “This isn’t about fun or excitement. We’re being entrusted with a sacred duty; I’m treating this with the level

“You, on the other hand, will not be so lucky.” “Your Majesty, wait!” Shouts a man from the crowd as he rushes forward falling to his knees. Tears fill his eyes, and he looks as though he hasn’t slept in years. “King Sebastian, I beg of you to show mercy on my daughter. She made a mistake. That shouldn’t cost her, her life,” the man pleads. I glance over at Sebastian who has gone from enraged to full-blown furious and I don’t blame him. “Mistake? Did you really just say she made a mistake?” Sebastian says through gritted teeth, walking over to the broken man. “Accidentally using salt instead of sugar when baking, that’s a mistake. Slipping on the gas when you mean to hit the brakes; those are mistakes. Your daughter actively and intentionally harassed me for nearly a century. Lied and deceived the former King and Queen.” Haemon and Callista both look sick with guilt over that comment. “Conspired with a known criminal. Organised a coup. Endangered the kingdom. Brutally murdered two p

I’ve been waiting weeks for this day to finally arrive. From the moment I met Circe, I wanted to slap the mouth right from her face. Back then I never imagined we’d be here – I never imagined anything until I met Sebastian. I certainly never imagined some deranged woman would try to tear us apart, and I never imagined we’d be getting ready for her execution, but I can say with complete honesty that I couldn’t be happier. A life sentence is too good for her, and I hate the thought of her still living in the kingdom, even if it is as a prisoner, so the sooner she’s gone, the sooner I can rest easy. Sebastian walks over and buttons up my shirt leaving the first few buttons undone while I pull on my jacket. He places a gentle kiss on my sternum, and I lean forward pecking his nose. “Even though I know how you’re feeling, I’m still going to ask anyway,” I say, placing my hands on his hips. “I just want this over with so we can leave this mess in the past and move on with our lives,” he

“It is my deepest honour to introduce for the first time, our new King and Queen, Sebastian and Lemuel!” I hear Eisa cheer through the microphone as Lemuel and I make our way into the ballroom. Everyone is gathered and cheering, still carrying the same excitement from earlier. I smile at Lemuel, tightening my hold on his arm and watch as he takes in the wonderfully decorated room. The decor is much the same as the throne room, only on a much larger scale. Glittering purple water pours from the fountains and waiters walk around serving drinks, but all that is tuned out the moment I hear ‘Do I Love You Because You’re Beautiful?’ begin to play. I grin at Lemuel as I bounce with excitement. Dimitra deserves a big fat raise after this. Lemuel smiles and extends his hand to me, “May I have this dance, my King?” I smile and bat my eyelashes, “I thought you’d never ask.” I place my hand in his, smiling wider when he pulls me close by my waist and begins twirling me around the dancefloor.

Lemuel and I slowly walk up the steps and gracefully drop to our knees before my parents. My father takes in a deep breath and adjusts his jacket. A mesmerizing glittering royal blue that merges into black satin from the waist down, with an indigo belt wrapped around his midsection. Black lapels cross over and allow just a hint of his white ruffled shirt to peek out from the neck and ends of his sleeves, giving definition to the ensemble. Black satin slacks appear to move in the light and cut down exposing royal blue shimmering oxfords at his feet. A stunning floor-length cobalt blue cape hangs from his right shoulder and gathers across the floor like the surface water of a beautiful oasis. It’s only when the music stops, and the room falls silent that I realise how long I’ve been staring at the inspiring image of my parents. A ring of cobalt blue glows around my father’s grey eyes, and with a wave of his hand, the surface water of the nearest fountain begins to bubble, acting as a m
