“Thank you, Cedrick, you’re a literal lifesaver,” I say shutting the car door.

“No need to thank me, I simply did my job but you’re welcome.” He replies, before driving off.

Wait, his job? I’m confused. Didn’t he say he was simply passing by when he saw me?

Argh! I shake all the thoughts away before making my way up the stairs. The door opened before I could input the passcode unveiling William who stood on the other end, dressed in his usual button-up shirt, tie, and slacks. while loosening his tie, he sidestepped, granting me access to the house, I walked timidly in, and he shut the door behind me.

“Thanks,” I muttered quietly.

His eyes soften slightly as he briefly studies me before speaking, “Um, is everything okay?” He asks.

Why was he asking me that?

“Yes uhm I’m fine, Everything is fine.” I stutter keeping my head bent. “So how was work?” I found myself asking in an attempt to make conversations.

“Freshen up and meet me in the living room.” He says ignoring my question
