Chapter Six: Text Message

THE next day, as Ruby entered the office, her boss' visibly impassive expression immediately greeted her. With just one glance, she knew he was in a bad mood, and she silently hoped that she wasn't the reason behind it. Moreover, he had even arrived before her, causing her to feel a tinge of embarrassment.

"Good morning, sir!" she politely greeted him while walking towards her desk.

"Why did you hanged up on me last night?" Adam's voice boomed in every corner of the office.

She flinched and stops walking. "Uhm, I broke my phone." She lied.

"Really?" he sarcastically asked. "Why do I find it so hard to believe?"

She bit her lower lip. "I accidentally throw it."

"Oh! But why did you throw it?"

"I was shocked after reading your text message."

Silence prevailed for a couple of minutes. So she turned around slowly and she almost scream when she saw that he was just a few inches away from her. "

"Sir-"

"Why were you so shocked by my text message last night?"

She bowed her head. "I'm still a minor for that kind of SOP. It was bold. As in rated thirty bold. And I'm only twenty-eight!"

She heard him chuckle so she looked up.

"Why are you laughing?"

He shrugged. "Nothing. Let's just start working. We have a lot of important things to do today."

Her forehead creased as Adam's mood suddenly change. He became serious out of nowhere. At times, he could be flirtatious. Sometimes kind, but mostly grumpy.

Annoyed, she still admits that she liked it when he's kind. The memory of what happened in the backseat of his car always cross her mind. Because the man that made her a woman was very kind. And when he's grumpy, it's so annoying that he act like he's the king of the whole world.
