Chapter 8

Eleanor's POV

“She was really sweet.” Enzo said. I smiled to myself as I heard this. Enzo had never said this to me in person before. He mostly kept to himself. Hearing him say this about me added a new layer of pride to me.

“You are right. She is the best. Our wolves have never connected to anyone the way it connected to her before.” Luca said.

“Do you think she is the one?”

“I do not think she is the one, I know she is the one.” Alessio said without double thinking.

“I say we follow her back to her home and meet her parents. Tell them we want to make her our mates.” Alessio added.

I widened my eyes in shock. I could not believe what they wanted to do.

“No, they can’t come to my country and they can definitely not see my king!” I turned and went backwards, trying to be as stealth as possible.

Little did I know that Marco was not inside the room with them, but outside. I almost bumped into him, but I was able to see him and hide in time, so he would not see me.

“Pack up! Let’s be on our way!” I said to my cousins as I reached the room.

“What’s the problem?” They asked me, confused.

“Just pack up quickly. I saw the men and I must tell you, they are up to no good.” I told them.

“They want to make me their mate and for that to work, they must come see my father!” I said.

The girls began to panic. They were scared for me.

“That can't happen!” Bella said. “I know, that is why I did not let them see me. Let’s just go and make sure they do not see or follow us.” I told them.

That was how we packed up and left quietly. I didn’t have any of their numbers, or did they know who I really was. It would be impossible to find me.

We were at the hangar in no time and flew back home.

The same time we used to travel up here, was the time we used to go back home.

After the long hours on the road, we finally touched down in our home country.

We had a convoy waiting for us. We were driven to the palace. I tried to be as discreet as possible. I did not want anyone to see me. The chief maid or my brothers and father.

It could not be hidden however because after my bath, just when I wanted to lay on the bed, I heard the knock on the door.

As expected, it was a maid there to pass the information that my father needed me in the throne room.

I began to shiver as I walked down the hallway. I never messed up like this, but he always punished me bitterly. I wondered what he would do this time. It became clear that I was just acting on impulses and was not ready for the consequences. I was not ready at all.

“I hope he doesn’t kill me!”

“You fool! Where have you been?” My father didn’t even let me step into the room when he began to yell at me.

“Good evening, dad.” I greeted, ignoring his initial statement. My brothers were there too. It was already 9pm. The main reason I did not want anyone to see me when I got inside was so that this would not happen.

Addressing the issue in the morning would have been much better as I was even tired and needed to rest.

“I don’t remember asking for your greeting!” He yelled.

“I am sorry dad.”

It seemed, trying to act nice only made him angrier. I had to resort to answering his questions the way he asked.

“I went to Greece, dad. I wanted to have some time off to think about my life.” I said to him.

He stood up angrily.

“You went to Greece? You knew you would be visited by Alpha Alexandro, but you still chose to leave without saying anything!” He said to me.

“I am sorry dad.”

Before I could apologise completely, he swinged his hand at my face, slapping me really hard.

I held my cheeks as tears began to roll down my eyes. When I turned to my brother and step brother, they were laughing silently at me. It always gave them joy to see my father treat me this way.

“Do you know how much you have embarrassed me? Alexandro came here with his people, but you were nowhere to be found. Do you know how demeaning that was to me?” He asked.

“I do not want to marry Alexandro.” I finally came up with the courage to say it. Everyone was shocked.

“What did you just say?”

“I said I do not want to marry….” Before I could say Alexandro, I got another slap from my father.

I thought that would be all, but he came swinging again and this time, slapped me in the eye. I could feel my face hit up.

He even threw a punch in my tummy that made me fall to my knees.

“Are you stupid?” He yelled at me. “You have a duty to perform as a daughter of this family and I dare not hear you say such a thing again.”

I began to cry bitterly and I shrinked into myself. I knew this would happen, but I didn’t know it would have been this bad.

“You better still be a virgin when Alexandro comes for you the second time because if I discover that you have lost it to someone else, I will not just make your life miserable, but I will find the man responsible, whoever it is and make sure I tie him up and kill him before you.” My father threatened, just before going back to his seat.

I knew he meant every word he said. My father was never the type that said things he could not do. This could be me starting a war that has been on the verge of happening for over a century.
