~ AFTER TWO DAYS~Amelia and James held hands as they sat in the living room with their other family relatives. It was the third day since the party and they were yet to find Alice. The cops had also been working very hard to get more information about her whereabouts, but it seemed like Alice wasn't in Alabama at all. Amelia had refused to eat until she had found her baby. James and the others had tried talking to her but all to no avail. She refused comfort from everyone one, even her husband, James. "I am now more worried about Amelia than Alice. She looks so pale and thin. I don't know what else to do or say to her that would make her rest or eat. She tried sleeping yesterday, but ended up crying again." James uttered with great sadness. Amelia kept her head on his shoulder and didn't bother to react to what he had said. It was as if she didn't hear him speak. The only thing she had in her head and could hear was Alice's little chuckles and smile. "Amelia, can you please take
"Hi, Amelia." His response came with a slight chuckle. Amelia's eyes still popped out in shock, and she dashed to where Fred stood. "You took my daughter?!" She yelled, and Fred placed his index finger on her lips, shaking his head. "Shhh… You are going to wake her up." He whispered. Amelia's lips shuddered and tears flooded her eyes. She slowly bounced her head and smacked his hand off her mouth. "Can I please see her?" She mumbled, and Fred nodded. "Follow me." He led the way into the house, and Amelia followed behind him anxiously. They got into the bedroom and she found Alice lying on the bed, wrapped in a very white shawl. Amelia moved closer to look at her face, and she saw that Alice was sleeping peacefully, and she didn't look so terrible like she thought she would. "Now, you have seen her, let's step outside and talk. I know you have a lot of things to ask." Fred turned to leave the room, and Amelia followed him with tears still streaming out of her eyes non-stop. "F
"James, you need to calm down." Elena uttered, placing her hand on his shoulder. "Calm down?!" He smacked her hand off him and sprang to his feet. "What the f**k are you talking about?! How can I calm down when my wife and child are missing? Can you listen to yourself at all?!" He yelled at her. Elena flinched in fear and moved away from him. They sat in the living room and watched the policemen work on tracking her phone and car. "You don't have to be so hard on me! I saw how you were shivering and sweating profusely, and I got worried about your health. That's all." "Stop acting like a saint! First, it was Alice, now it is Amelia's. What exactly are you planning?!" "Stop it, James! The police have already investigated me. When will you ever believe that I would never do such to my sister?" "When the truth is finally out. When I find my wife and child." Penelope and Helen walked into the living room, looking super exhausted. They had gone to town to paste the missing posters o
The car pulled up in front of another house, this time a few houses surrounded this house, but they were too few to make Amelia comfortable. "You should move it now. My job is done." The masked driver uttered, and that was when Amelia realized that Fred had been staring at her the whole time. Alive clenched her jaws and opened the door, holding Alice carefully to herself. She looked around the remote road, trying to make a guess about where they were, but she got nothing. All she knew was that it was very far from where they first were. "Come with me." Fred said to her, swaying the key in his hand."Why are we here? Why did we leave the other house? What are you planning?" "Too many questions after such a long ride. Don't you want to rest? If you don't want to rest, I want to rest." He opened the door and stepped aside for Amelia to walk in first. "Fred! Alice shouldn't be in a situation like this. She is too young to go through all these. It's me you want, right? Can't you le
“I’ll be back in three hours time. Hopper is waiting for me to come and visit him. It’s past his visiting time.” “It’s okay, Penelope. I’ll stay back here with James. I can’t leave him alone in this condition.” Helen responded. “Of course. I’ll be back, okay? Please take care of him and yourself.” Penelope opened the door and stepped out of the house. After shutting the door, Helen heaved a loud sigh and turned to look at James. “How did you two meet?” James asked out of the blue. “You mean Penelope and I?” Helen answered, and he bounced his head. “I never got the chance to ask until now. Maybe this story would help me while away the time. I’m trying to get this situation out of my head but I’m finding it hard. Please help me.”Helen bounced her head and sat next to him on the couch. “Well, we both first met in high school. In grade one. It was not a pleasant meeting because I bumped into her that day, and also spilled her drink on her white t-shirt. She was so mad at me even th
“I’m done, Amelia. I’ll head out now. What else do you need for you and Alice? I’ll get everything.” “When you go out, you’ll lock us in the house right?” She asked, staring at his face. Fred gulped hard and looked away. “Yeah. I…” “You don’t trust me to leave me alone in the house without restraint.” “I’m sorry, Amelia. But I can’t be careless with you. Not anymore.” Amelia chuckled and shook her head and looked at him. “You don’t have to feel so bad about it. I understand you, okay? But I have a request.” Fred bounced his head slowly and looked at her. “What is your request?” “Can I at least go with you? It’s been so long I took Alice on a stroll. She seems bored already. I would love to take her out today. So can we go with you to the mall? I’d be able to recollect other things I need when I see them too.”“That is your request?” He asked, and she bounced her head excitedly. “That’s all I’m asking. I’ll be with you and I promise I won’t try to do anything stupid. Maybe then
“I think we have gotten all the things we need.” Fred said, holding hands with Amelia in the shopping mall. “Don’t you think we should get a Walker for Alice? I can’t keep carrying her around. She is growing weighty day by day.” Amelia grumbled. Fred chuckled and bounced his head. “That’s true. Let’s go and get it then.” “But can I at least use my card? You have been paying the bills since we got here, and you have spent a lot already.” Feed looked at her and let out a soft smile. “You’re worrying about me?” He asked. “Of course, I am worried about you. Why doesn’t it seem like a surprise to you?” “It’s happening so fast, Amelia. I thought I’d have to pressure you so much before you’d say yes to me. But it seems pretty easy.” Amelia clenched her jaw and looked away. “Are you trying to say I’m easy?” She asked, feeling offended by his words. “Oh no! That’s not what I meant.” Amelia broke into laughter and shook her head. “Calm down, Fred. I was just teasing you, okay? Let’s ge
Dinner was ready at James’ mansion, and they all sat at the dinner table to eat. Helen sat close to Charles, while Penelope sat next to Elena. “Elena, how was your first time at the office?” Helen asked after a few minutes of digging into their meal. “It was super hectic, Ma’am! My boss bombarded me with so much work. But I’ll survive. I’ll adjust as soon as possible.” She responded, and they all bounced their heads except James. She looked at James and noticed he wasn’t paying attention to anyone. It was just himself and the food in front of him. “Pookie, are you alright?” She asked. James raised his head and shot her a deadly look. “What gave you the gut to call me that? I think I have made myself clear about that. Stop calling me that stupid name as if you own me, okay? I’m a married man, with a child.” He responded with great anger. Elena heaved a sigh and looked away. “It was just to make you smile, okay? You don’t have to be so mean to me all the time. At least now you kno
