chapter 11

I woke up three times last night, and it wasn't because I couldn't find comfort in the bathtub. It was because of the nightmares that would poison my sleep.

I kept trying to get some rest but each time I close my eyes and sleep tried to drag me in to the deep, I would startle awake, soaked with sweat and trembling with fear.

By the time I woke up for the third time, I realized that trying to sleep was useless. So, I decided to leave the bathroom.

The amount of care it took for me to unlock the door was unimaginably challenging. I couldn't afford waking Elijah up with the loud click of the lock.

When I walked out of the bathroom though, Elijah was not in bed.

Even though it was dark in the room, the glow coming from the bathroom provided enough light for me to see that there wasn't anyone laying on the bed.

I glanced towards the walk in closet to see that it was wide open, but Elijah wasn't in there either.
