72| The pretense

It was Saturday morning, and Miranda woke up in her room with a slight headache. Her phone rang from beside her bed on the bedside drawer where she kept it. She reached for her phone and swiftly answered the incoming call.

"Hello, Babe," she said, her voice sounding sweet and soft as she had just woken up from her deep slumber.

"How are you doing this morning, babe?" came Larry's calm response. He was at home in his father's house in the local town where his paternal parents reside, and he wanted to introduce Miranda to them. It was a highly anticipated day for him, although he was nervous. Larry knew that Miranda had no family, and he wanted to make his intention to marry her known to his family.

"I'm fine, just feeling a bit nervous and cold," Miranda said, not wanting to leave the house as it was the weekend, a day she had planned to rest.
