Chapter 6: Conflicts

After a long ride in the cab. Alexa felt the sudden urge to cry again. She and Daniel wasn’t even in a relationship yet but she has already experienced some post relationship conflicts. She goes home after everything that has happened. She fight that urge to cry and enters the house. She saw Lily lying at the floor, sleeping. She also saw Arthur who is in the kitchen. She goes upstairs and tries to calm down at what is happening. Alexa puts down her bag and lie at her bed. She closes her eyes and then sleep. She wakes up after seeing a bright blue light shining at her eyes. She stood up and see a woman standing in front her. Alexa couldn’t see her face because she is facing behind her. She got startled when the woman speak.

“You’re here,” the woman said

“Where am I?” Alexa ask

“In my subconscious,” the woman said. “We are somehow connected,” the woman added.

“I don’t understand,” Alexa said

“You will,” the woman said

Alexa wakes up and tries to remember the details she saw.

“It was a dream,” Alexa said to herself

She tries to reminisce the woman’s figure. She is tall with dark hair. She has slim shoulders and her hands look soft. She got tattoos in her body and jewels in her wrists. She is wearing a long gold with a touch of silver dress. She wore some kind of weird shoes that is so pointy. She tried to remember every little detail she saw but somehow she forgot some parts of it. Alexa is sure that she saw the woman’s face in side view but she couldn’t remember it. Then she heard her mother call.

“Alexa!” Rita shouted

“Coming!” Alexa replied

She comes down immediately and saw Daniel at the sofa. Daniel stood up as he sees Alexa and walks toward her. Alexa move away from Daniel and goes to her mother.

“What is it?” Alexa ask

“Daniel wanted to talk to you,” Rita said

Alexa let out a sigh and signals Daniel to come outside. Daniel followed her outside.

“What?” Alexa ask

“I’m sorry,” Daniel said

“Do you even know what the problem is?” Alexa ask him again

“No,” Daniel said

“See that’s the problem, you don’t know anything Daniel,” Alexa said

“Alexa, listen to me,” Daniel said

“No Daniel, you didn’t know the pain you put me through,” Alexa said. “You don’t know anything. You don’t know how people talked behind us. How they hurt me because of you!”

Daniel looks at Alexa with sadness. Alexa couldn’t even continue the words she wanted to say. She felt the tears that she has been fighting, fall in her face. She tried to wipe it down but the tears kept falling. Then it started to rain again, she sit down at the chair in their front yard. Daniel still followed her but he knows that Alexa wouldn’t feel better with him there. So he decided to leave.

“Mrs. Jones, I’m sorry for the trouble I have caused,” Daniel said

“What is happening?” Rita asks. Lily just woke up because of the commotion that is happening.

“What is it?” Lily ask

Rita just shook her head and give Lily a signal that she doesn’t know. Lily stood up seeing Alexa cry in the rain. She then looks at Daniel.

“I told you don’t hurt her,” Lily said

“I’m sorry,” Daniel said

“Your sorry doesn’t mean anything anymore, you already hurt her,” Lily explained

“Isolde, Arthur, pack our things. We are leaving,” Daniel said.

 Arthur got surprised at what Daniel said but Isolde immediately took action and pack their things. Lily goes outside and give Alexa an umbrella. After two hours of packing. Daniel leaves with Isolde and Arthur. Before leaving Daniel left a letter to Alexa’s room. He also looks at Alexa in the sofa still crying. Lily is drying her hair and Daniel took his last glance at her and then he leave. He ride his car and behind him the moving truck. They got to their old house where they moved in after what had happened in France. Daniel immediately goes to his room and locks his door. Isolde then explains Arthur what is happening. On Alexa’s house, her mother scolded her after what she did. Rita got angry that Alexa made Daniel leave. Alexa didn’t listen to her mother and still in the verge of her sadness and anger. Her mother kept screaming at her that made Lily go outside the house. Alexa goes to her room and ignored her mother. She sleeps again to remove all the frustrations in her heart.

She wakes up in the middle of the night. She scanned her phone and sees lots of missed calls and text. Alexa didn’t want to open and read it since she is sure it is from Daniel. She then organize her things. She made another resume and some other requirements so that she can apply for a job immediately. She still got some cash so she know she’ll be alright. Alexa goes back to sleep after doing everything she needs.

It is early in the morning when her mom called for her.

“Alexa!” Rita said

“What is it?” Alexa replied

“Someone is at the door,” Rita said

Alexa goes down and see the person who is at the door. She saw Isolde holding something.

“Alexa this is your paycheck,” Isolde said

“Thank you,” Alexa said. Isolde left after that. Alexa checks her paycheck and tells Lily to buy some groceries for them. After that Alexa receive a call.

“Hello?” Alexa said

“Hey, it’s me. Harold,” Harold replied

“What do you want?” Alexa ask him

“Have you think about what I said?” Harold replied to her

“About what?” Alexa said

“About working again here,” Harold said

“Oh that,” Alexa said as she thinks about it. “Okay, I will work for you again,” she added

“Okay good,” Harold said

Alexa turn off her phone after that. She arranges her stuff and be ready to go to work. She goes outside her house, dressed and ready. When it sink into her that she will have to go to work on her own now. She will ride bus again and go to that flower shop where her ex-lover works at. She arrive at the flower shop momentarily and saw many people inside it. This is actually the time of the year where people buys flower for their love ones. Harold saw her and told her to come in. Harold had given her immediately a list of flowers to arrange. So she quickly left her bag at the staffs area and goes to the customer service area to arrange the flowers. She is good at decorating flowers and choosing the right color for everything. She got done immediately and then she accommodates other people’s requests. She did her job easily and fast that Harold got impress at her skills. Harold then assigned her to deliver some flowers. She got over 15 deliveries to do. She got to the business scooter and take the flowers that needs to be delivered. She went from places to places across London. She delivered every single flower. Harold now is even more impressed so he again hand her some more deliveries. It is nearly closing time and she needs to do it fast. She made a strategy to deliver the flowers first to those who are far away and deliver later those who are near the place. She got fast to every address and deliver it just in time since she can maneuver over traffics by her scooter. For her last delivery it is in an apartment near her house. Almost a few blocks away, she notices the address. #75 Rose Street, as she read the address. When she rings the doorbell, she saw Daniel as he opened the door. She give him his ordered flowers and was about to leave when Daniel hugs her from behind.

“I’m sorry Alexa,” Daniel said

“I can’t do this anymore,” Alexa said as she release herself from Daniel’s arms

“Alexa, you’re right,” Daniel said. “I didn’t know. I never know that people have talk behind us. I’m sorry but trust me. I love you. I love you more than anything else in this world. More than anything else in this universe. We may not have known each other for so long. We might have people talking behind us. They must be against us but I’m willing to fight for you, for us. For our love Alexa. I know you feel something for me,” Daniel said as he grabs Alexa’s hands and put it in his chest.

“Feel me Alexa, feel my heart,” Daniel said. “Listen because it only beats for you,” he added.

Alexa looks at him and then Daniel hugs her. Alexa cried and a sudden rain pour into them.

“Don’t cry my darling,” Daniel said

“I’m so much hurt at what people have said. I didn’t steal you from someone. I didn’t flirt with you nor seduce you but they accused me of such grave things,” Alexa explained

“Baby, no matter what they say, I love you. Only you,” Daniel said. “You are the one and only Alexa that I will love over and over again in this entire galaxy. Don’t listen to them because humans judge things easily especially if they can’t understand it. But it is our love and we are the only ones who can understand it,” he added.

Alexa hugs him tightly as the rain still poured. They are now soaking wet in the side of the street when Daniel lifted Alexa’s face and kiss it. They kiss for a while till Alexa remembers her work. She push Daniel for a bit and got her phone out. She called Harold.

“Hey are we done?” Alexa ask

“Oh yes, the store has closed a while ago,” Harold said

“Okay bye,” Alexa said

She then put her phone down and continue kissing Daniel. When Daniel talk between their breaths.

“Who is that?” Daniel whispers

“It is my boss,” Alexa whispers too

“Tell me the name,” Daniel said

“His name is Harold, my ex-boyfriend,” Alexa said

“You didn’t tell me about him,” Daniel said

“Why would I?” Alexa said

“Just so I know,” Daniel explained

“Well know you know so stop talking and start kissing me,” Alexa said

“Wait a minute, you are working with your ex?” Daniel ask

“Yes,” Alexa said

“Where does he live?” Daniel ask

“Don’t tell me you are jealous at that jerk,” Alexa said

“Why would I?” Daniel said

“Of course, why would you?” Alexa said

“Let’s go somewhere good, I’m driving,” Daniel said

They both went inside the car and use some towel in Daniel’s car to dry themselves. Alexa looks at Daniel and promised that she will not care about other people’s opinion anymore. She looks at Daniel while he drive to their destination. The car pulled over at a parking lot. They both got outside and Daniel holds Alexa’s hands.

“Where are we?” Alexa ask

“Somewhere, something good has happened,” Daniel said

Alexa looks at him and then kiss his cheeks. When they arrived at their destination. Suddenly a surge of good memories rush inside of the mind of Alexa.

“This is Primrose Hill,” Alexa said

“Yup,” Daniel said

“This is where we first met,” Alexa said

“And the first time I fall for your soul,” Daniel said

Alexa sits down the meadow and look at the trees ahead. She also looks at the pinkish sky above her. She saw different people running, walking and chattering below the hill. She looks at the city light that seems so busy but up above the Primrose hill is so peaceful. She lies down and Daniel is beside her.

“Do you remember what I told you about the stars?” Daniel asks her

“That we became the light in the path of our beloved?” Alexa said

“Yes,” Daniel said and then he laughs. “It is a stupid thing to say,” he added

“Why?” Alexa asks

“Well here’s the thing about stars,” Daniel said. “Do you know the speed of light?” he ask

“Yes,” Alexa replied

“The light of a star travels differently and it varied as per the distance of a certain star. The time it takes for light from stars to reach us is the distance to the star divided by this speed,” Daniel explained

“Okay so?” Alexa said

“Did you know that when you gaze at the night sky, most of the light you see from the stars are like millennia’s ago?” Daniel said

“What?” Alexa ask

“Yes, most of the star you are seeing are like their past light,” Daniel said. “Because it took them so much time before they reach earth,” he said

“So you mean to tell me that the light we are seeing from them exist like for a very long time ago?” Alexa ask

“Yes,” Daniel said

“I didn’t know that,” Alexa said

“Well for a stars life, a blink of an eye is already a thousands of years,” Daniel said

“That is really interesting,” Alexa said

“It truly is,” Daniel said

“You must be very fond of the stars,” Alexa said

“I just happen to know something about them,” Daniel said

“You do know a lot,” Alexa said

“But if you look into its meaning. Our love is just like that,” Daniel said

“Why?” Alexa ask

“Because even after we move on from this life, our love will still be shining down for a thousand of years. That it will never go away even if time passes by quickly,” Daniel said

Alexa felt her cheeks getting warm. She didn’t know Daniel is so cheesy that he even used some facts just to tell her he love her.

“Now the conflict is over,” Daniel said

“I guess it is,” Alexa said

They stayed under the stars until they felt hungry. Daniel bought some food from the store and they ate outside. The stars have shine brightly that night that many astrologers and other people who love the stars have gone outside with their telescope to see this magnificent encounter. They stared at the sky and tried to name every one of them. Alexa doesn’t know any names of the star that is why Daniel taught her some.

“That one who is shape like a W is Cassiopeia,” Daniel said

“Oh wow, it’s extremely beautiful,” Alexa said

“Yes because its name is based on a beautiful queen in Greek mythology. Though she is quite boastful and in vain about it,” Daniel said

“Oh really,” Alexa said

“You see that constellation? The one who looks like a snake,” Daniel ask

“Yes, what is its name?” Alexa ask

“That is hydra, named after a sea serpent,” Daniel said

They have look for other constellation and Alexa couldn’t guess any. She scored zero at naming the constellations. Daniel laughs at her when guessed it wrong. Alexa though is intelligent and resourceful. She just doesn’t know her stars.

“I have a question for you,” Daniel said

“You already asked me lots of question,” Alexa said while laughing

“No, darling be serious,” Daniel said

“Okay, okay Mr serious,” Alexa said

“If you will be star, what will you name yourself?” Daniel

“That is a hard one. Maybe I will tell you when the time is right,” Alexa said

“No, tell me now,” Daniel groaned

“No way, it is already midnight. My mother is possibly looking for me,” Alexa said

“Okay fine, fine. I’ll take you home,” Daniel said

They drive in the middle of the street and both of them inhale the cold air of the night. They laugh and talk about each other while on the way. Daniel ask Alexa for another date and Alexa agreed. Alexa told Daniel that she wanted to walk on her way home. So Daniel parked his car in front of his house since Alexa’s home is just a few blocks away from them. They were walking on the side of the road. Stealing glances at each other. Kissing on every dark alley they saw. Alexa felt a lifetime of adventure that night. She didn’t want this feeling to end and stop because she wouldn’t want to miss it for the world. She looks at Daniel with great love and interest. This is the night Alexa felt something gravely deep for Daniel. She didn’t feel it the last time and now she have felt it, she knew she couldn’t stop this anymore. So she let herself fall into the arms of Daniel. That when she looks at Daniel’s eyes, they were like two pools whom she knows that when she fell, she wouldn’t want to come up for air. She wanted to drown at Daniel’s love. Daniel looks at her because she totally looks like an idiot. She also laughs because she couldn’t control the feelings she has for him. Daniel kiss the back of Alexa’s hands as they were near her house. They giggled as they were walking. Daniel pick a flower and then they stop at Alexa’s doorway. He put the flower behind Alexa’s ear and kiss her lips. He felt her soft and sweet lips. He kiss her like he couldn’t kiss her anymore. He pressed his lips gently but filled with passion and tender. Alexa felt the warm lips of Daniel pressing against her. Her hands move on Daniel’s back and unto the back of his neck and then the back of his head. She grab a fistful of hair that makes Daniel pressed his lips even harder at Alexa. Daniel has pressed Alexa at their wall and kiss her some more. Alexa gasped for air and Daniel saw her.

“You are beautiful my Alexa,” Daniel said

“I love you my Daniel,” Alexa said

That caught Daniel off guard and looks at her straight in the eyes.

“What did you say?” Daniel said

“You heard me,” Alexa said as she walks in the door

“Alexa wait,” Daniel said then steal a kiss from Alexa

“Goodnight,” Alexa said

“Goodnight,” Daniel replied

“I love you,” Alexa said as she enters the house and close the door.

Now Daniel really heard it right. It makes him so happy that he jump over and over again. He runs through the side of the street and shouted a couple of times. Alexa who is now in her room heard Daniel shouting and running. She laughs at his reaction. She baths for a while and changes cloths. She then lie down her bed and reminisce everything they did today. She slept after a few minutes of thinking. Daniel on the other hand, goes home happily but a bad news swarmed in his face. A news that will stop everything he planned for him and Alexa.

Arthur walks toward him and Isolde lock the doors. He sees that their bags are already pack. Daniel couldn’t think what is happening because he is still living at the moment he and Alexa shared. Now something bad has happened. He saw Arthur and Isolde panicking. They are planning everything. Isolde told Arthur to get some foods for the trip. Arthur goes outside and buy some foods. Isolde is now alone with Daniel and packs their other equipment’s. Daniel then confronted her and ask why are they panicking and what is happening. He told Isolde they will stay in earth forever but Isolde refused and told they need to go but Daniel got angry then Isolde told him something that will change his mind.

“She found us,” Isolde said. “Your sister, Mirana has found us.”
